What Is The Motor Of Motivation?

What if I were to say to you in all sincerity there is nothing you can do to increase or decrease your current output because you really don't have control of your life the way you believe you do.

Would that kind of reverse psychology force your to jump into action to prove me wrong? Or would you simply acknowledge there really isn't much that can be done right now and we must continue to live with what ever level of success we are currently experiencing; sort of like the law of inertia. What do you think?

I agree with reddy20. This will work with people who have a high level of self confidence, but not with someone who is already low on it.

It would encourage me to prove you wrong, just to be contrarian.

I've never been the type to listen to others who tell me I can't do or accomplish something. I'm a rebel like that.

Yeah I would want to prove you wrong and I use your false claim as fuel ;-)

I never worry what someone says to me as long as I know that I am giving my 100% in what ever I am doing.

If you said it with all sincerity I would think you were inexperienced, delusional, or simply negative and I would move on. I don’t take the time to talk people into things. I work with people who are already motivated to develop and grow.

If you said it with all sincerity I would also feel sorry for you.

I will surely answer that the complete opposite saying:
"What if I were to say to you in all sincerity there is a myriad things you can do to increase or decrease your current output because you really have control of your life the way you believe you do." is, at least statistically, 50% true

    I'll take this half, please.

I bet you're the type of person who blames everyone else besides yourself for misfortunes in life due to your own inaction.

Do you believe that you have free will, or has your life already been mapped out?

Why would you think that? He's asking a hypothetical.

I never claimed to know his intent.

It's a hypothetical because he's not making a statement. Notice the following terms he uses:

"What if I were to say to you"
          "Would"
          "What do you think?"

I'm not sure why you would make an ASSUMPTION about someone based on a hypothetical without any further proof he is what you claim him to be. Maybe you can help us all out by explaining your reasoning.

maybe you need to re-read everything, and mind your own business. My comment or question was for the OP, not you. Unless you're admitting to the same beliefs of blaming others for your misfortunes and lack of free will, then we can continue.

It depends on my level of desperation. If I know that without an increased level of output, I'm going to starve, than I'll increase my output regardless of your claim.

Although I believe that our subconscious minds control the majority of our behavior, I also believe that our output can be controlled by using self-suggestion and creating a burning desire for the achievement of our goals.
