Is "Being Happy or Content" a mindset or it takes much more than that ?

Can any one stay happy with whatever they have?
Is it possible?
Does it mean that we should never aspire or dream?
Is it bad to long for materialistic things, gains or riches?

In my opinion, being happy or content is nothing more than a mindset.I am not saying that we should not aspire or dream. Neither do I mean that we should live like a Hermit (Well, you can if you want to :-) )

What I mean is "Be Happy & Content" with whatever you have "for the time being" Enjoy whatever you have...live the moment and keep working towards a better tomorrow

People fret over lost opportunities, worry about tomorrow, become jealous of other people's accomplishments. They forget to enjoy what they have attained today for what they couldn't have attained.

Remember Life is a race sometimes you get what you want and at times you don't. Don't let things which eluded you today trouble you. Be Happy that today happened and Enjoy ! Tomorrow is another day. What ever we couldn't get today probably we will strive and get it tomorrow

Cheers !

    I would summarize it in

Be Happy with what you have today
and work hard for better tomorrow

Dreaming is a nature of all humans but being happy with what they have is not a nature of all humans.

When I read your post it immediately brings to mind a lesson I've learned in life: LIFE IS CHANGE and I believe that although it's a nice thought to be happy with what someone has, I find that it's an irrelevant pondering, well for me it is irrelevant. I have been to what I call rock bottom, emotionally, financially, physically, and I would always think about children left to die on the streets of Calcutta, and people living in filth in third world countries, and people being bombed to death or ripped apart in Baghdad. It makes being happy with what I have seem like nothing worth thinking about because I have my life and my limbs and for that I thank God! Everything else that has transpired in my life I count as blessings and appreciate them as such. I find it important to ask God for help and guidance and then whatever happens is the blessing. I think many people look past the fact that they tried to get something or accomplish something or do something, and the fact that it didn't turn out the way they wanted can be a blessing as well.

Being happy or content is easy to achieve and incredibly difficult to master. Much like most spiritual truths – easy to understand, complex to implement.

Being happy for where you are in life Right Now is being in Gratitude.

You are more fortunate than Billions of people right now if you have a roof over your head, a fridge with food in it, a car or bus pass to take you around and a dream to pursue.

Your dream is 'in' you for a purpose.

Actually it is your 'higher' purpose if you can learn how to get past conditioning and 'limiting' beliefs that hold most people back in 'Inertia'.

I find the world thirsting to "Keep up with the Jones'" and not being content with what they have already. Why is that? Its because what we lack inside, we search outside. It all goes back to self-love. I've learned this lesson later in life and at the right time. Till this day, i pray to God to remove anything I pursue or people in my life that's toxic or no good for me. I agree with Amanda that I believe things we may have tried to strive for didn't work out as a blessing. I tell a family member that all the time. God may be protecting you from what you want for your own good. Its not always about what you want in life, but what you need in life.

Being happy is simply a decision. But people find millions of excuses not to hold on to that decision.

After making that decision life will confront you with tests to see if you really mean it!!!
