Best Self Defense Tips For Women

Hi,

recently I was asked to write a post on self defense tips for women which could be shared with female staff in office on Women's day. I met a few experts to understand the take on this subjects ( to get some tips as well). Later, I carried out research as well to come up with the article. The final post which came up was appreciated by all for the practical tips it offered.

Do you have any self defense tips to share which can help and make a difference to someones life especially a women ?

Here is what I learnt...

-Exercise and stay fit.
-Exercise your mind. Simulate a situation in your mind
-Understand Fear.
-Focus on survival
-Expect to be injured
-Warrior Mindset.
-Confident body language.
-Improvised weapons come in all shapes & sizes. Learn to use them.
-Pressure points in human body-ears, eyes, nose, jaw, throat, groin, abdomen, cheeks and back side of the knee. Hit these point hard

-De-clutter your handbag
-Add important telephone numbers to speed dial in the phone.
-Download Security Apps on your smart phone.

I'm not an expert on this by any means but I would say body language is extremely important. Many times confident body language and dominant posture diffuses these situations.

Better planning and being realistic are also important. For example, walking a different route to work or avoiding places or situations where trouble is likely to be.

Not sure if this helps. Again, not overly knowledgeable about women's self defense but I did feel it was something that deserves more attention than it's getting. Hence my two cents.

If all else fails, shin kick to the balls. Nothing drops a man faster.

    Arjun,

Something you didn't mention specifically..... related to safety more than self defense....

    Situational awareness.....

Many people put themselves in "bad situations" simply because they aren't paying attention.

I've seen several cases where women were abducted and assaulted because they were walking around alone.... late at night. They assume they are safe because they aren't in a "bad neighborhood."

I also remember one serial killer was asked why he "chose" a woman.....

    His answer....

"I went around the neighborhood and looked for an unlocked door."

All that woman had to do to keep from being a victim was lock her door....

Palm heel strike to the face... jab to the throat... followed by knee to the groin.

    Then run.

    This is real self defense.

If you go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, make sure you tell your partner where you're going...
