      Thanks CG Tsang!
Is there a failsafe way that we can all find our life's definite purpose? Does that require lots of work and self-analysis or should it be already there inside our heart?

I believe that we all know our life purpose.

Write down the question. What is my life purpose?

Answer it until you start crying.

        Cheers,

Additionally, there's a good exercise from Steve Pavlina that people may find useful. Here's the link:

How to Discover Your Life Purpose in About 20 Minutes

Following your life purpose (or doing something that makes the most of your innate/natural talents etc.) + Being of service to others = Happiness. : )

Following reason. An individual's life is the standard of value. For the individual to live it has to be rational. Rationality equals life, irrationality leads toward death.

Think about how life expectancy shot up after the enlightenment (when people started applying reason/science etc..). Actually reason began making traction as early as Aristotle.

So there is no room for instinctive or intuitive behaviour then? I think you are talking nonsense by giving only half the picture here. My opinion.

    Great thread...

For me... it's all about following your heart, going with the flow of life, with ease and stress free.

I love to read different religious text, and of course any book that I believe I can glean a thing or two about life... but I love what Jesus said about Having overcome the world. To live a happy life for me is to see everyone as the same, to love, to be empathic and compassionate... and to be disconnected, not attached to ANYTHING... not attached to material things, not attached to results, not attached to yes... even my own family <--- that's a tough one for most people to grasp.

But that's how I live a happy life.... it's a journey for me... and as I go along this journey, I learn more and more what makes this life work... and what this life is all about.

The #1 secret to living a happy life may not really be a secret at all. You can choose to be happy and manifest contentment in your life if you desire to.

I've read many true stories of people living in dejected states of poverty who find every day ways to celebrate the joys of life. Witnessing their singing, dancing and full-faced smiles, I have little doubt that their positive outlook is achieved through simple determination. To be happy no matter what, in spite of circumstances!

I don't think it's possible to live happily 100% of the time, because there will always be ups and downs in one's life, but I think being prepared beforehand and effectively managing different situations in life is essential to stay content and happy within.

Purpose in life will give you a reason to live your life to the fullest, and to stay motivated.

I'd recommend all the people here to read Choose Yourself by James Altucher, and follow his blog. His book is a must-read, if you want to be happy and to improve yourself.

Many of us have the notion that money will make us happy.
Yes, money is important but the truth is we do NOT need money,
we want what money can buy.

Personally, what makes me happy is GROWTH and CONTRIBUTION.
That's what I realise many successful people spent their time at.

Actually money will come automatically as you IMPACT more people in your life.
If you want to make a million, find a way to impact a million people.

That's what makes me passionate about life.
I love brainstorming and ask myself,
so how can I impact millions of life for my next project?

Try it out. Hope it helps!

Monitor your thinking and what you let in.. this concept to me is absolutely bullet proof..

Create a routine for the beginning of your day and for the end.. In both routines include reading or listening to something positive and inspirational.. this will drastically improve your thinking.. avoid things like the news, email, FB feeds in these routines.

    Remember..

You can't control what goes on during your day, but you can always control how your day begins and how it ends..

    Cheers!

For me, the secret to living a happy life is to be content with who you are and what you have. If you appreciate the little things, those that we take for granted, I don't see why you can't live a happy life. Also, you should choose to be happy and not let the negative things take over your life.

    Good post.

By seeking "happiness", you're actually ensuring that you never achieve it.

That want and desire for something beyond what you already have will follow you forever. Even when you should be ecstatic, you'll still be seeking again before long.

Just be content with the present and accept whatever life may throw at you.

That's not to say that you shouldn't have goals, but you must enjoy the process of working towards and achieving them.

Don't go to work miserable every day to reach some promised land that may never come.

Gratitude! Be grateful for everything in life. All things you have currently, your past and future accomplishments.

Start small with something you really love and build from there. If you can be grateful for just a couple minutes a day, everyday, and make it a habit you will start to increase the amount of time when you are grateful and then it will become a part of you.

The other thing is to be creative instead of competitive. If you are in a creative mindset, there is no competition. You can focus on what you care about and create value for yourself and others. By fighting others you are only hurting yourself.
