Are You Really Accepting Money Into Your Life?

I read something the other day about attracting and accepting money into your life that struck a chord.

The basic premise was that you are subconsiouly NOT really accepting money into your life if you feel you are always working hard to make money.

The author said that although he was really rich, he still picked up any and all pennies he found because they were a gift from the Universe. He believed that if you don't notice nor accept the small amounts of money that the Universe throws your way, then you are NOT ready to accept the bigger amounts, and therefore, it will not be sent your way.

Needless to say, it struck a chord because I knew that if I saw a penny in a parking lot or lying around, I usually bypassed it. Little did I realize that this is the Universe giving me FREE MONEY.

Now I actively look for money just lying around, but I don't go out of my way to search for it. This has cascaded into me looking for other opportunities that come into my life for making money.

It seems like such a small thing, but it has made a big difference in my thinking and accepting money into my life. I hope it helps you too.

    Good post, Woody!

I've found it to be true in my experience that scoffing at small amounts of money sends a strong message to the universe that holds back larger amounts. My family and friends laugh at me because I pick up small change from the ground, the sofa cushions, washing machine...LOL But the funny thing is that the more I do it and get excited about it, give thanks for it, the more unexpected larger sums come to me too. Then their tune changes to say, "How come all these neat things happen to you? I never get unexpected refunds, I never get unexpected gifts and checks!"

I have to agree. Being accepting of all amounts - big and small - seems to go together.

I may have read the same thing - about picking up coins because it "sends a message" to the Universe or whatever.

You make an interesting point. I've always been a change-hoarder (people also hand me their change because they hate carrying it around), and it really does pay off... before I was legally old enough to get a job the change I collected would buy basically whatever I wanted. Never underestimate the power of a penny! (The cashiers didn't appreciate it though... :X)

Same here. Now I don't even actively look for it and I come across and I now always say "money comes easy to me". It's had an effect on my online business as well. I had a problem in the past feeling like I deserved success seeing how my parents struggled, but how can I help others if I don't have enough. So now I dream big so I can live comfortably and share my blessings

yeah, there's this game you can play with that one cent. The game is to try and double your money, by bartering. It'll probably take you a while to win the game, unless your lucky :-)

So you take your once cent and you trade it for say something like an egg or something small like that. Now you've got that egg or something else that's small and of little value, but it's higher in value then one cent or penny. Let's say that egg is worth four cent or four pennies. that means you've skipped a step.

Now trade that egg for something else that's a little higher in value, keep going untill you've reached eight cents or pennies in worth, then it's on to sixteen and so on.

The goal of the game is to reach 1 million dollars.
Now there are some rules though
        1. the original penny MUST be a found penny
        2. You can't take money or stuff out of the game
        3. you can't put your own money or extra stuff to trade into the game

When you win this game, you'll have gotten one million dollars in free money. Since you've found the original penny and never put any of your own money at stake.

ps: I think I've read that exact same book, can't remember the name of the book or the name of the author though. I liked the way the book read though and he had amusing stories to tell

That really is the key word..."accepting."

Most of us go around "chasing" money.
Most things you chase keep running.

How do you attract a love partner? Money is kind of like that.
Respect it, acknowledge it, pull it to you...and picking up change is
          part of the process!

Money is Energy - in order to allow it to flow in to your experience you mst also let it flow out of your experience.

I.e. spend money with joy and never be be mean or afraid to spend - it implies lack.

One reason the rich get richer is because they have a spending mentality which attracts even more money, while people with little money or debt focus on lack and attract more lack.

If you have a genuine need - not frivolous - just buy it knowing that money is not an issue.

There is a very profound psychology around money. Your belief system around money is really going to determine a) How much you can accumulate or b) How little of it you will have.

You must determine your key beliefs around what money is for you, before you can change them. Three questions you must ask yourself are.

    1) What is money?
    2) What is not having money?
    3) What is money really?

Come up with as many answers as possible for each question. Do this exercise alone and only when you can complete it. Then for each answer you want to ask does this BS support me or does it hold me back. For many people who do not have an abundance of money in their life you will find that it really comes down to how you believe and feel about money.

I did this exercise many years ago and discovered that one of the beliefs I had about money was that "you have to be a ruthless person to have money." as you can imagine that is not a very good belief to have if your core value is I want to help and support people. The conflicts between your core values and your beliefs will truly determine what you can have in your life as well as the happiness, joy and passion that we all truly want. Money is only a means to an end.

I read about this in T. Harv Eker's Secrets of the Millionaire Mind. I loved the book! Though I would guess there can be some others that mention the same thing.

    • This is a subject close to my heart, I have been looking at my beliefs about money, what they are and where they came from? It's time to become aware of them, challenge them, accept them and then let them go as they no longer serve a purpose.

      Thanks for this thread!

This is something I have never heard of before, but it makes a lot of sense.

From now on, I'll check my surroundings more often not that I'll go out of my way to find a penny but certainly will pay more attention...
