It Feels Like You Have Been Cursed

What if you understand that you need a certain mindset in order to succeed, yet your thoughts just won't allow it?

What if you know what it takes to push past all the bad thoughts but you have lived 30 years of negativity?
Negative thinking is all you know....even though you try to change your mindset, your "Failure Mindset" is so powerful that even though you keep trying....deep inside there is a belief that you are just not going to succeed.

You are broken.
It's too late for you.

Success is possible for others......but not you.

How can a person fight their own powerful inner negetivity when it is all they know?

You read self help books.
You try to work with the Law Of Attraction.
You keep as fit and healthy as possible.
You try to see the good in everything.
You try to learn how to relax your mind and live in the present.
You try and try and try.

But nothing seems to be working.

    well .

i can relate ..avoid getting to depressed about it..because they will just put you on meds that will make things worse before you get better.

you are not broken ..the world has gone fargen nuts and there are probably as many feel like you do as not around the world right now ..

stop with the self help stuff ..untill you do things that actually help yourself .. and don't try to convince others to change ..it will be hard enough to change yourself and get them to notice .

you can live another 100-120 years ,,better off going through this now and figureing out how you want to live .. than staying on the path of status que ..for another 10 20 or 30 years ..

i am not such a good motivational or inspirational person..as i have gone through hell the last 5 years or longer ..in order to learn what i need to do to create the life i want ...

the one advise i can give .. is re evaluate the dreams you have and start giving up the ones that compensate for the feeling of being broken ..find a thing you can master that serves others as well as yourself .

What you need is to build positive habits.

You know exactly what to do to become successful but your body and mind blocks you because we don't like change. You need to force yourself in the beginning and build habits. After sometime, these same habits will become natural and you will become successful.

    Cheers,

    C.G.

This was a difference maker for me. I used to read self-help books religiously, and watch a bunch of motivational videos, but I wasn't taking enough action.

You need to act "as if'. Act as if you already are the person you want to be. Start doing the things that you would do if you were a positive and successful person. Once you start feeding your brain evidence of the person you want to be you will slowly but surely become that person.

You see, this is where I go wrong. This is where I find all this LOA stuff really difficult.

I understand why we need to act "as if" the things we want are already here but I just find it so difficult to put into action.

I mean, how can a poor person "imagine" and "really feel" what it is like to have money when they have never had money?!

How can a depressed person make themselves "feel" happy when their days are filled with pure dread and pain?!

LOA mentions that if you want something you need to put out the "vibration" as though you already have it. Then the "Universe" will match that vibration and give you more of that thing.

You can try to imagine you are rich or have a better body or have a nice home, etc but if you do not "BELIEVE" that you have these things now....if you do not really FEEL as though you have these things now then the LOA just wont work!

I mean, how do people get round this?

Well if you have tried to focus on the positive but the negative seems to be drowning you, try harder. It is usually the worst place to be so you need to keep moving. As the saying goes If you are going through hell keep going. You will not achieve the positive mindset right away. Just like depression it takes time. So you need to keep up the effort.

Need to take one little positive thing at a time, and keep building. Negativity without a doubt continues to bring negativity. Positivity, even starting with the smallest, brings positivitiy and positive changes.

I've come very close to believing that you either have it or you don't. And I know about having bad luck, it seems to stick with you even though you've spent days and nights without sleep working on projects, campaigns etc or whatever you're working on, and still seeing very nil or zero results. The IM business whether it's your own product or affiliate marketing is a very very tough game. If you don't have the marketing skills or a hefty budget to invest in a real coach or mentor who will teach the proper path on making sales and getting a positive ROI, you're pretty much out of luck.

I'm not a believer in law of attraction, self help books etc. They will not make you financially free or wealthy. Prayer doesn't even help you get financially free. And I've been an avid gym freak for over 20 years as well, and I'm still not financially free.

The phrase I hate the most in internet marketing is "Take Action". I have no problem taking action, and I've done alot and failed numerous times. Now the phrase "Take PROPER Action", that's a whole different story.

There's no such thing as follow 3 or 5 steps and make $200 a day with ease. That fantasy doesn't exist.

Sure I can approach methods and believe they will work, and when they don't, it's very difficult to stay positive.

Internet marketing is very hard. Anyone who tells you it's easy is blowing smoke. If it were easy, everyone would be successful.

30 years of negativity may take 30 years of positivity to undo.

What matters is you stay on the right path.

Keep doing the good things you are doing. Good is good. You can trust that.

It will not just all of a sudden "work"

It will happen for you little by little. Perhaps at first just small flashes of relief and insight here and there.

Also, check out this post I recently made about negative thinking:

But nothing seems to be working.
What you do is stop "trying" or "reading about" good luck and success.

Instead, you get mad - really pissed off - tired of failure and tired of your own excuses. You make a list of things "to do" and then you do them even if you don't feel like it.

You stop worrying about "trying" or "looking for" or "changing your mindset" and you work and work and work - you write, you build, you DO until it starts working for you....then you do even more.

IM, more than anything I've seen, has people who spend years "getting ready to get ready to do something once I get my mind around it".

Success breeds success. IM doesn't care if you are in the mood or not, feel lucky or not, believe in yourself or not....simple truth is the more buy buttons you have online the greater your chance of success.

It's that easy - and that difficult.

like another Warrior said earlier in another recent thread don't beat yourself upside the head with it. Try to really sit down and honestly face your feelings and what you've not allowed yourself to feel and really own it..... I think that is awesome advice.

C.G. is on to something here. If you have been doing this for an length of time, you have established several "habit loops" that are running at will in your mind. This is the reason you feel that you have no power over them.

A great book (and it is excellent) on this is "The Power of Habit" by Charles Duhigg. There are some videos on YouTube by Charles that will open your eyes to some things.

Let me also say that there is no woo-woo here. It's all about logic, reason and evidence sewn together with great writing and interesting examples. This is one of the two best books I've read this century!

Do not make the mistake of thinking that because you have see a few of the YouTube videos, you don't need to get the book. I would recommend the paperback, where you can highlight and make notes.

But nothing seems to be working.
there is no try there is do or do not

i am not in the nicest mood right now .. and i am not meaning to offend the poster ..

a few years ago i was one of the most inwardly negative people you could meet .. for a period of a year or two i was in a state where i had a pulse and was angry at life every morning i woke up .i was as depleted as you can get in every area of life .

anyhow there is no quick turn around .. it can take a few years or more to pull out of it ..

the problem with feeling you are broken and trying to fix yourself..is that you tend to glue on parts that do not belong..the last year or so..life has stripped all that away ..

the only way to get through it..is to not live exclusivly in the present ..and to move out of the past ..strip away every idea of success ..that is there to try and impress other people..or show others .. figure out what kind of life you want to live and the people you want around you ..

now as far as the negative self talk or the negative thoughts ..i found a formula that worked for me ..

there is a way a bully would talk to lets call that x ..then there is a way someone would have to talk to you to get you to beat them nearly to death with a baseball bat ..lets say that is around 3x to 4 x

then there is negative self talk and the negative thought stream ..that runs 10x to 15 x and it gets maintained well beyond when somone else would get bored

now when it gets bad ..and the answer to..would i beat someone else to death for talking to me like this ..is yes ..

you have to take that voice down to drill sargent level ..then shut it down

when you take all that mental energy you are using to hold yourself down ..and begin applying it to being who you want to be ..it actually gets a little more difficult because the world around you is reflecting who you where .

make what changes you can..but don't tell anyone about it

I can relate but you won't like the answer.

It all comes down to your perception. I've learned so far that bad things happen. That life is NOT fair. That you may try your best and still fail.

And you know what I do then?

    Remember these three things:
    1. If I get over this, I will become a stronger person and life will never be the same.
    2. Nothing moves until I make it move, so my circumstances may change as soon as I answer my emails or in 14 months. I don't know. But I must start somewhere.
    3. I focus on my keystone habits. Life gets a lot easier when you know you must do some things every single day.

Does this always work? No ...

But it is enough to get me past virtually any obstacle.

    Good luck!

Yes, for the past few days now after I have completed my morning exercise I just sit for 5 minutes and try to focus on nothing. I am not sure what benefit I am gaining from this but I do feel more relaxed and so will just keep doing it.

    Joe Mobley -
If you have been doing this for an length of time, you have established several "habit loops" that are running at will in your mind. This is the reason you feel that you have no power over them.
I think this has a lot to do with why I am where I am today. I have learned very negative habits and they do come to me naturally. I fight them off most of the time but the fact that they are ALWAYS there is just frustrating. I have had enough, I am better than this.

I have read many books on LOA but never really looked into the "habits" side of things.
Thank you for the, "The Power of Habit" by Charles Duhigg, book recommendation and Youtube videos. I will get this book asap and read it as soon as I finish Psycho-Cybernetics.

I read an article some time back that said something to the effect "you hate yourself because you don't do anything." Kay is all over this. Go do something.
I do do stuff all the time! So much so that I have no time for anyone! I am constantly trying keep busy and notice that if I am not busy for even just a few minutes my mind starts thinking again and the negative thoughts try to bring me down.

    Odahh -
you have to take that voice down to drill sargent level ..then shut it down
I do this all the time...everyday. When the negative thoughts come I use a technique to get rid of it. I shake my head quickly from side to side and the thought goes. When the thoughts are powerful I have to vocally tell them to "Shut up". It works...but I am sick of doing all this. It is all just a temporary fix, not a cure.

    RogozRazvan -
It all comes down to your perception. I've learned so far that bad things happen. That life is NOT fair. That you may try your best and still fail.
So true. I have learned, I have taught myself to perceive life as just one huge freakin pointless struggle. It has become a habit. It needs to be broken.

    Results.

Keep taking positive action until you start seeing results from Internet Marketing.

Thinking positive (etc.) is great (and highly recommended) however it's the results that you see from your efforts that will change your mindset/belief

And it doesn't have to be something extravagant: Maybe setting the goal of earning just $100 will be enough to change your mind.

    Good luck. : )

P.S. Make the decision that you will do whatever it takes to earn that $100. Then, if you really do give it everything and it doesn't work out, you can be proud of yourself for acting like a "winner."

Some posts touched on habits and attitude. These alone don't suffice.

The basic pattern for success starts from owning your own beliefs, and keep yourself accountable to both the good and the bad in your life.

I have learnt that we are exactly where we need to be in most cases. Hence, the best way forward is to find people you want to emulate, and start acting accordingly. It's at this stage that acting as if comes in.

Before doing anything of the above, be sure to specify for yourself what it is you are after in life, preferably for every area of your life, whether it is health, family, friends, work, business, dreams etc.

So far I am working with the LOA and also learning about habits by reading The Power Of Habits.

I am doing the gratitude thing every morning, I am learning to be thankful, I am working on my negative vibrations and trying to "allow" the things I want into my life.

So far I am picking things up but there is much to do.

I think this interview I did will really help you a lot.

If you feel you may be CURED you might just be! Trust your intuition

It's DEEP so be warned. This is not for the light hearted or closed mind.

Sometimes we are not only dealing with mindset. Sometimes it's to do with the spiritual.

Subconscious mind stuff is just one of many level that stops us from succeeding!

    Check it

I was enjoying that interview when I realized I'll be half hour late to help some friends out. Wow, you guys really got into that one well. Didn't realize it is almost an 1.5 hours.

    ----

Sharpturn - Thanks for sharing. If speaking for yourself, I want to share with you something that helped me overcome my wreckless drug addict caused depression.
    Learn to joke about it!
    Call yourself a sooky baby!
After you call yourself that, ask yourself "Ok Sooky, Baby need a bottle?"
Then go get a drink, or whatever it is you asked yourself you needed,

I believe we need to develop a strong speaker in our heads. A parent so to say.
    A.K.A - Your subconscious

We all have a subconscious that is programmable, we just have to talk to it with authority. It might sound silly what I am saying, but would you listen and fully respect someone without any authority over someone who does? Compete with your subconscious thoughts by speaking over them with authority. I spoke to myself like my grandfather, someone I respected the most in my life.

    ...
I might have to get into this a bit more later. I am running out of time, Cheers!

    there is this saying:
a pessimist will see a failure at every opportunity,
an optimist will see opportunity at every failure.

it comes down to this - you need to train yourself to see the world differently, and it takes time.
what good does a self help book have, if you are not training yourself to have it's new set of mind?

    Hi sharpturn,

My advice would be to just look at the reason WHY you're doing what you're doing everyday. This is not specifically for building success in business, but to be more specific, I have experienced the death of my mother, the death of a child and just recently a miscarriage. Now these things are not to cheer you up lol but it's my way of saying that the way I live my life right now is to change how I look at things. PERSPECTIVE for me is the one thing we can control regardless of whatever misfortunes we've had in the past. I hope that this helps, but I wish you luck!

I relate very well with this. I used to live trapped in this actually. Recently I learned to live mindfully. This has changed my life. I am living now with peace and joy, and greater success. I highly encourage that you look into this.
