Amy Van Dyken-Rouen Is Unbelievable

Today Amy Van Dyken arrived at Craig Hospital about 10 miles north of where I live. I have watched her over the years win 6 Olympic Swimming Gold Medals and get married and move on with her life.

All of that changed On June 9th when she severed her spine in an ATV accident and at this point is paralyzed from the waist down. No crying for her though....

After severing spine, Van Dyken-Rouen thanks TODAY fans for support - Video on

Matt Lauer came to Denver and did a great interview with Amy on the Today Show this morning. She has already been in the pool and has stayed positive everyday. She is supposed to be paralyzed from the waist down for life, but she has experienced sporadic sensation below her belly button since her surgery, and has set a goal to walk out the hospital in August.

One thing I found interesting was her husband, former Denver Bronco punter Tom Rouen, put a cell phone in her hand when she was first in the hospital asleep after her surgery. He hoped it would be a form of therapy because she loves social media, and it worked. She has stayed active with her friends, and followers on Facebook and Twitter.

I find this story very inspirational!

Inspirational story even though I couldn't watch the video because I am out of the US at present. I saw her on Youtube instead.

Amazing woman! Thanks for sharing this!
