Organization Assistance

I am having a terrible time getting back into the world of marketing and need a starting place to get back on track. My issue at the moment happens to be organization. I need ideas on what/where/how I can store and organize very important information safely. For example, one of the things I need is a system to keep my links, usernames and passwords organized where I can access them quickly and easily without putting them at risk. I also would like to hear your tips on any other forms of archiving, indexing and storing you use for your information. I've been using my bookmarks but they aren't much help.

When it comes to storing passwords, user names, links, and anything else along those lines a simple spreadsheet will do. Spreadsheets are a great resource when it comes to staying organized.

I'm not sure its the safest thing in the world, but for the last 3 years or so, I've used RoboForm. You can download the free version from their site. It holds all your usernames and passwords and will pop up when you visit a page which needs logged into. It has a master password so people can't just seal all you info. I don't have a ton of pertinent info so it isn't that big of a deal for me and I like the convenience.

I have been thinking of downloading RoboForm for a while, but for some reason or another, have not done it.

What I do use instead is a password-secured Word doc. All my usernames and passwords are there, and I also use a computer software backup.

I don't know if this solution will work for you, but it does for me.

    Hey JaSunn,

    get yourself a roboform.

If you are using firefox you can use roboform to
store your username, passwords, bookmarks etc.

If you are using Avant Browser, than they have taken
care of it for you. they have a built in database to store
or your log in names and passwords, bookmarks and rss feeds.

Yeah heard good things about RoboForms.

For other organization, I recommend using an "Outliner" app like Keynotes, I'm actually using EssentialPIM Pro for my outliner, calendar and to-do lists.

(Tested a lot of pim's EssentialPIM came out on top for me)

For bookmarks... use a social bookmarker like Delicious. They got bookmarklets that you can just put on your browser toolbar.

Gotta check out the book Getting Things Done by David Allen... having paper, reference drawers, folders, paper-clips, labeler... all key...

Thanks for this post. I have gathered some really useful information just reading through posts. Many of you all ask questions I would never ever think to ask and they help so much. Great stuff. Need to go to bed but can't quit reading!
