Who is up for a 5:30am wake up challenge?

My buddy and I are trying a 5:30am wakeup call for the next 5 days. I want to find out if this will make us more productive and motivated. Who wants to join this challenge?
I want to see how this affects everyone, good or bad.

      Easy enough for you!
Not sure if I can go a half hour earlier...

Kidding of course. I am comfortable with 6:00am, but this is a great challenge for those who have a difficult time getting on the go in the mornings. An earlier morning is a more productive morning..

Early bird gets the worm.. A writer gets peace and quiet.. This I quickly discovered!

    Nice initiative.

At what time do you usually wake up? What are you planning to do with this extra time?

    Cheers,

The nice thing about work at home entrepreneurs is we can wake up when we want if we want! I prefer it that way!

I always get up around 5am but have a nap or two in the pm.

        This is an interesting idea.
I get up at 6.30am and soon when it gets hot here in Spain I will make it 6am.

Not sure if 5.30am would work for as I have to cycle to the beach, do my workout and then cycle back.
I might try it out one morning to see if I can still train intensely so early in the morning.

I used to wake up at 7:00am. Now I'm aiming for 5:30. I plan on working or surfing with this extra time.

At 5;30 this morning I woke, went for a pee, drank a pint of water, got back into bed, opened my iPhone and spent the next hour working on an article for a client.

At 6:45 I went downstairs and joined my wife for coffee.

My normal routine 7 days per week!

    Prosperity to all early risers!

I'm in. Normally, I wake up between 7-8am depending on how the previous night goes. Sometimes I work late even though I'm more productive in the morning. (doesn't really make much sense huh?) I'll use the extra 1.5 hours to get a head start on actual work since nobody is expecting me to check email that early.

    OK, so here's the deal.

I'm going to create a FB group. This group will be based around the challenge to wake up at 05:30 each morning. Who wants to join can PM.

For every day you do this starting tomorrow, you will get one point. At the end of each month, we'll make a scoreboard.

In other words, if person A woke up 6 times and person B only 4 times, person A takes the first place and person B the second.

It is a honor system so even if you can cheat, you won't benefit from it.

In this group we'll also be sharing insight, techniques and tactic for doing this a bit better and easier.

Just out of curiosity, what time do you get to bed at night in order to be up bright and fresh the next morning at 5.30?

I am trying to gauge a good time to get to bed.

When I first did this I went to bed at 10:30pm but after 3 days I'm finding myself aiming for bed a litle after 10:00pm as it takes me time to fall asleep. You will need to find out how many hours you need to feel rested. For me that is about 7 but for Elon Musk prob 3-4 since he is a machine

IMO, five days is too short because you might not be used to it yet...
I wake up between 04:30 and 05:30 and get to work. Yet, the first weeks I started this habit, I could not produce any work till around seven, just because I wasn't used to it.

It might be easier if it's already light outside around 05:30.

I agree with Isaiah. It's better if you turn it into a 30 day challenge. I started waking up at 5:00 am four weeks ago. The first 5 days were HARD!!! But after 2 weeks it got easier and was able to do more work.

Waking up at 5:30 AM is a great way to start the day. It is nice and quiet, and there aren't many distractions coming your way at that time in the morning. Make sure you get 8 hours of sleep the day before you get up at 5:30 because it can be tough to get up that early when you're really tired, especially when you know you don't really have to.

Yep, that would be good for me, 8 hours in time difference means I wouldn't have to be up till mid afternoon.

      I can sleep on that.

I'm not having luck with 5:30am every am. Alarm going off, sitting by side of bed. Get to wash bathroom/wash up by 5:45am. Walking dog. Start real working on project by 6am.
I may have to skip real wash up and breakfast until 7+. Then get kids ready and do long dog walk. Continue working at 8:30a.

I listen to Robin Sharma occasionally and he's a great advocate of joining the 5am club (getting up at 5am daily). His advice for the 'Holy Hour' is the following:

spend the first 20 minutes doing some form of exercise
2nd 20 minutes learning - reading something inspirational or motivational etc.
3rd 20 minutes journalling - looking at your schedule for the day, planning, gratitude etc.

I've found on the days I managed to do it I had an infinitely more productive day. I just find it very hard to get up at 5am though, even if I go to bed earlier. I think it's just ingrained in my mind to not get up before 7am.

Other motivational speakers such as Brian Tracy and Tony Robbins are also advocates of early rises and they all seem to have a specific routine to start the day similar to the above.

I've made some serious changes to my diet and fitness in the last few months and I really feel getting up early each day is the final piece of the puzzle. My diet is really healthy now, I go to the gym every other day and cycle on the days in between and yet...I still can't seem to wake up before 10am!

Good luck to everyone having a go at this. I sent a request to join the FB group.
