Faith and online business

Hello,

It is a known fact that it can take quite a long time in order to create a profitable online business(that is stable), under normal conditions.

I am looking to hear from people, for purely inspirational purposes, who have stuck with their businesses for more than 1 year, while making $0, just to reap the rewards.

I find such stories show great strength of character.

1 year?.....how about 3 years with zero income. Luckily I didn't need the money as I have a well paying full time job but I had always dreamt of building an online business so that one day I can "retire" from my commuting job and work from home. If only I had listened to the pros way back when they told me to build my own list. Good Luck and start building your list with quality unique content...the money will follow.

It was probably 2-3 years that I stuck at online marketing before making any decent money. It was partly my fault because I was not taking things seriously enough at the time (easy to recognize when looking back now).

It wasn't until I quit my job and was forced into taking action that I achieved more in about 2-3 weeks than I had in the previous 2-3 years.

Nothing forces you into action more so than having your balls on the line.

You'll find a lot of the people who have spent years earning nothing online are those who have a day job. Things are too comfortable for them and thus they have no real consequence of not taking action. You see this same story play out over and over again.

Risky but has a lot of merit to it. Often however people who take this route are building businesses on sand more then an stable foundation as they are just looking to make money as quickly as possible.

I've known people who have done just as Will has said and it's worked out perfectly for them. I also know of 2 people who have done what Will has said and they ended up in some pretty bad situations.

Telling someone with no experience or no skills online to quit and work it out, probably isn't something I'd be comfortable recommending. As Will said himself, when he quit he had a few years of learning behind him.

For my self-development advice blog, I told myself at the outset that I wouldn't even consider monetization or a list until half a year in. I felt that I had to earn that right, so since we started we've been putting up 4-5 quality articles each week. I've been published internationally multiple times, have a major print magazine publication coming up, and continue to work with leading authorities and companies in my field.

It's taken time, money, and mountains of effort, but I just feel grateful to be able to do all this. I'm living my dream and my passion: helping others. I can't stand the thought of my readers reading anything but the absolute best advice, or ever leaving my site not feeling somehow enriched.

Lost co-workers, writers, friends, sleep, and a lot more sleep over it, but I stood by my word, never sacrificed my principles, and in 10 days it'll be 6 months in and 63 countries helped.

More mountains still to climb, but what's a mountain to an eagle?

It took me about 6 years before I was able to make a consistent income online. I know I would've reached success a lot sooner if I wasn't suffering from shiny object syndrome. I kept going from business model to method, to get-rich-quick scheme until I finally realized that I was just running in circles and I wasn't really focused on building a business.
