Time Management - A Better Perspective

hey everyone. I haven't spent much time here on Warrior this summer. The activity has kept me going all the time. From boating, swimming, zip lining, and BBQ's, I've been keeping myself very active and entertained. If not now, the summer will be gone, and the shovels will be out.

Which brings me to this post. With all the activity, I have still found time to write articles and personal development.
One of the more recent - Time Management Exercises - This gives a unique perspective on time management.

The following is a quote that stuck in my head all summer. It was by an amazing acrylic painter I met.
"Life is just too short, and its nothing but slices of decades"

With all of the steps we can find on the internet about how to manage our time, it's never really explained about how important that time really is. It wasn't until this quote when it hit me about how much time I really have. 10 years seems like a long time, but when you consider this a decade --and the healthiest people in the world only get 8 to 10-- it then shows just how important it is to use the time we have.

It is important to take every minute of the day like it is your last. There is never time to do something later, or tomorrow..
Tomorrow is nothing but a figment of your imagination. Today, is the only day you have control on what you do.

So do it~

you manage for things you want more of.. and you can't get more time ..

you manage for better experiences from how you use time ..and the 8 to 10 was for people born 50+ years ago..if you are under 40 or 45 and live healthy and avoid traumatic injury .. with the medical advancement and other thing you can get 15 to 20 decade healthy vigorous and productive .

the problem when it comes to time management .. is a lot of people probably 99.9 percent are thinking in terms of trying to put aside enough money so they can stop working or for when they get to old to work ..

if you do the proper things now ..there will be no time in the future you have to stop working .. so protecting and nurturing your health is far more importan than trying to squeeze productivity out of every spare minute of the day

I'm sorry, but I disagree. I've yet to see any medical advancements that can realistically extend human lifespan to that of 150-to-200 years.

Plus, I'm not that sure that this would actually be desirable. The planet's already plagued with overpopulation. If people lived twice as long (or more), the situation would get far worse even more quickly.

Finally, I find it rather sad that, while modern medicine offers many good ways to extend lifespan, most people choose to ignore them. Smoking, lack of proper diet and exercise, and doctor avoidance are just some examples that come to mind quickly. I seem to recall that the average American lifespan is actually decreasing, almost certainly due to such lifestyle choices.

When you learn and maintain good time management skills, you’ll find freedom from deadline pressure and from stress in general. You’ll be more productive, procrastinate less, and have more time to relax, which helps further decrease stress and anxiety.

Time management skills are like shoes or a good pair of jeans — you may have to try several pair before you find just the right fit. They’re different for each person and you have to find what works best for you.

Below are a few that work for me which you may want to borrow.
    Make a list.
    Set deadlines.
    Stop multi-tasking
    Delegate responsibilities.

when i worked the job where i ran a crew .. the deadlines for getting stuff done where there when i walked in the door .

Having a list of what needs to be done is key

not multitasking is a good strategy ..the stratagy to get several things done at once is to arrange them so progress on each task is stacked so you are doing one task at a time but you are making progress on many things ..

it is really hard to explain this concept to "normal" people with the western mindset of seeing things as separate .

most people do this in the grocery store though .. if they know where the stuff is the route is planed through the store so they go through each ilse once get what they need and check out ..they down buy stuff for tonight meal then go back through for lunch tomorrow .. then dinner tomorrow ..so people do a weeks worth of shopping in a short period of time .

as far as delegation goes ..should that not be considered outsourcing..unless you have employees .

He actually seems to be a life long painter, Giving his realism and outstanding talent. Several of his already sold paintings went for $15,000. He is doing well with it, and enjoys it very well I would believe.

A few of these are standard for anybody, and most people should adapt their own custom time management techniques that best suit their lifestyle and goals.

Another important point to keep in mind is that time is not equal.

You can't do when you are 70 what you can do when you are 30.

So if you think you can get time back at a later date, you are deceiving yourself.

There is a moment in life for everything. At 20 - 30, it may be about partying in Ibiza. At 70 it may be about teaching your grandchildren wise lessons.

Treat time as an investment and life as the marketplace. Sometimes it is best to invest in real estate. Other times to take a future option on a stock. Yet other times to take a very bold move and put all your money on black or red.

You will never get it back.

as mentioned, the key is a plan, and the listed items need to have an order, so you can go through them one by one...otherwise you get lost or multitask...where you may not complete some items with quality

    Nice post.

You're right. We often don't realize the importance of time.

    I like this video.

It will slip my own mind countless times. Much less than before because I have become more aware of the things I want to achieve. The more time pass us by, the more obvious of an importance it has.

Thanks for sharing that video, it was a great perspective. (The music is very... suspenseful)

Most people get stuck in a comfortable work rut, allowing the years and decades to slip away until their life is almost over. It's important to live a conscious life and understand that what you are doing or not doing every minute of this day directly impacts your lifestyle ten years from now.

@damiensuccess, powerful tips! I came accross Eben Pagan's Wake Up Productive training videos via WUP Prelaunch 2015 - Video 2. According to him, we only have a little bit of willpower each day and we sometimes spent most of it on things that aren't that important.

This 2015, lets focus on things that can bring big dividends in the future.

Time is something I think about all the time, thinking about it in the perspective of decades, its almost scary because of how short our lives seam. I feeling like living a day at a time and focusing what you have to do during those 24 hours will result in a full rich life in the long run.
