The "Boring Word is the Secret Ingredient to Success

I've learned through over 8 years of IM that the key to success online is consistency. I When I have my big months, it's because I've been very consistent in terms of my work ethic, and therefore, my income is consistent.

However, once I lose track of that consistency, my sales tend to go up, down and around - eventually I get burned up and lose my sales track. So what's the secret to being consistent?

    Yes consistency is important. I'd rather take consistent baby steps each day that lead to something great after a long period of time than to take 1 big massive step and take a week off and then start again and never really get anywhere. Daily repetition also builds self-discipline and self-confidence, which is necessary to take on bigger challenges that are awaiting in the future.

    It's difficult to feel consistent or even be consistent in terms of output. There are so many ups and downs. You get good days where you have been obviously productive.

    Then, there are days where you do stuff and get nowhere. For example, recently I tried out some new software that I had never used before. Well, I had used it but I was trying to do something I had never done with it before. After a whole day of trying to get my head around it, I had nothing to show for my day's efforts. It is productive because I had to figure it out and I did the next day. However, it doesn't feel productive or consistent at a psychological level when sometimes you have nothing to show for a day's work. You can end up in an irritable mood when things don't work and that doesn't help consistency.

    But, yes, consistency is good, especially when you get a run of days when you have been productive and consistent. You also feel more motivated when you are on a roll.

    I thought positioning was the secret word that is boring and few talk about ..

    tvon has put a thread or two up on consistency and i am a fan of it to ..

    but you can't constantly stay in the same place you have to move where the action is then take the consistent action required for success in that pursuit.

    So true.

    For me it's building the right habits. Like writing 2 blog posts per day, working on product creation etc.

    Once these tasks become habits, They forms part of your everyday life and you constantly do them.

    Consistency is a boring word that is often overlooked when pointing out keys to success. Consistency is important even when the sales are not rolling in. Many give up at this point instead of remaining constant and making the adjustments needed for success. Consistency is required in effort, attitude, approach and energy just to name a few.

    By the same token if you are doing something that is consistently not working, then you must recognize this and make the necessary adjustments to change your results. I've been there many times and found that usually a tweak or two is all that is needed to make a difference!

    Another boring word often overlooked is focus.

    on one hand the success community and gurus preach to get out of your comfort zone ..which is a zone where everything is pretty much consistent day to day week to week month to month year to year .

    most people effort is poured into keeping everything as consistent as possible .

    even Brian Tracy pointed this out when he recounted losing a job washing dishes that he really hated .. the first thing he did..look for another job washing dishes .

    If you want to understand the power of consistency. it is similar to compound interest .

    look at the majority of people ..and they will be consistenly doing thing that prevent the from living a better life..and in a position where compound interest works against them not for them .

    you are problably already 90 percent or more consitent in the actions you take..just most of thos action either don't add to success or make things worse .

    if you keep your sugar level in your blood constantly high . you are going to developed insulin resistant type 2 diabetes.

    The key to ANYTHING in life is consistency. Finance, parenthood, health, etc. Actually, destiny = consistency.

    What you do on a repeated basis tends to become who you are and the reality that surrounds you.
