Apple separates the ranking on iPod and iPhone?

Just notice, since last week, for most apps, the ranking on iPod and iPhone are different for a same app now. Even on a same keyword, the ranking differs.

Will Apple separate the ranking on iPod and iPhone the same way it does to the ranking on iPad and iPhone?

Wondering: Is Apple trying to set new algorithm?

If you still think mobile SEO is only about WAP pages and the mobile web, you may have been living under a rock since July 10, 2008, when Apple launched their App Store for iPhone and iPod Touch. This week they announced their 1 billionth App download, and many out-of-work programmers are wondering how to become the next App Store millionaire.

Thanks for your reply, but I can hardly agree, unfortunately. I did not mean the overall ranking but ranking on a certain keyword.

Apple did launch their App Store separately for iPhone and iPod Touch long time ago.

But the iPhone ranking and iPod ranking on a same keyword have always been the same.

The ranking only started differing like 10 days ago.

I also checked some other apps those days. For a same keyword, if the app ranks below #20, its iPhone ranking and iPod ranking would probably be the same. But, if the app ranks above #20, its iPhone ranking and iPod ranking differs.

However, Apple has not officially announced that they have separated iPod ranking from iPhone ranking. Also, keywords ranks analysis tools like AppAnnie, SensorTower, MobileAction cover iPhone ranking, iPad ranking, too.

So I think, Apple might be testing and trying to set its new measurement for app rankings. not sure though.
