Depends. Ecommerce sites have their own apps to offer convenience for their target users who are always on the go. People would browse on mobile but still do their shopping on desktop / laptop.

It depends on how you use your optimization skill i guess.

But to think more or less 50% of the worlds population uses mobile phone, there is a huge potential to market your product.

Creating mobile apps and mobile friendly sites will surely help you if you know how to target your audience.

I have read before that some countries are not interested on the words on your apps/site but will gladly click on the ads that are engaging (flashing, colorful and girls obviously). So take that into consideration when you advertise your site

According to statista.com by 2017, over a third of the world’s population is projected to own a smartphone, an estimated total of almost 2.6 billion smartphone users in the world.
Of course not every mobile phone is a smatphone but I presume we talk smartphones these days when speaking of e-commerce. I imagine e-commerce will "soon" fully switch in favor of mobile platforms.

My answer is YES. I think, nowadays, most people spend time on their phone are more than anything. They look at phones while waiting, eating, walking, talking, ect., so, mobile marketing can definitely increase the rate of exposure. However, it also depends on what commerce you want to do. For example, I don't think that doing the medicine commerce through mobile market is an appropriate way.

If you're marketing anything online, then you should be targeting both mobile and desktop users. Whilst mobile has over taken desktop, why not market to them? They are still people at the end of the day.
