Are apps a good way of promoting a blog?

Do you think in-app advertising is another good channel for blog promotion? I'm talking about creating your own (industry relevant) app and advertising in it, not someone else's app.

App marketing is good for businesses not for blogs. It will get little much results. There are many other ways to get traffic like social media marketing.

I think it helps little much in marketing but it is too hardworking.
First you create an app for the promotion and then, you advertise your app. Its too hard working and time wasting. You can use other ways to get traffic.

I think apps are way to promote other apps. But i dont think its good for blogs.

Hey Sean DeSilva - I personally think this can be effective depending on several factors

I also think it might not make sense depending on a few things. Would your audience mainly be B2B or can you tell us more about your target audience? Also would your goal be to link people to the blog from the app? - or essentially have the blog content also available through the mobile app and a link made available on the blog for users to install the app? Depending on the content delivered in the app and how engaged users might be on a daily/weekly basis is another factor to consider. I am curious to hear more of your thoughts.

You can try, but its not really going to perform really well i think.

Most app users are just there for the app and if an ad really gets them well it will most certainly do the job. but the chances of bringing people to your blog will be a lot of work. UNLESS, its something that they really really need. For the most part, i think having a gaming blog for in-app ads shouldnt be a bad idea. Like provide walkthroughs, cheats (lol) or guides. Then let them comment. In no time, youll have them coming back. Content is the key! ....and a few bucks to spare.
