ASO, or App Store Optimization, is the app equivalent of SEO and what you should be learning about. How to best optimize your app in the store will depend on numerous things, including the keywords you are competing for (check out Searchman for this), your app icon & screenshots and localization. This will also vary depending on the OS, for instance here at IconPeak we just launched an Android app, which requires that you use natural text and mention your top keyword five times in the summary. To rank on that keyword you need only two things, downloads and reviews..

The more downloads and the better reviews, the more you will rank..

Many of my customers have ranked top 100 in their category, after they have bought only 50 reviews from me.

One guy just bought 500 reviews from me, he did go from position 1000+ to top 20.

Best way is the social media like Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook. Then would be blog comments and communication to all the contacts by e-mail marketing.
