Trying to promote Android app a little bit more

Made new android app and got it published on Google Play. After a week or two without having any installs, I payed for google ad mob campaign (10 bucks) and ended up in having 20 installs. I also uploaded apk to several alternative stores, 4 or 5 maybe and that's it.

What do you suggest. How to increase number of installs. I don't want to pay for false ratings, or false installs that would vanish in a week.
How to attract more people who are really interested in using my product.
What could be a good place to look at.

thank you

Almost of new apps in Store will go through this touch period. New app ranks far, attracts less and so on. So publishers may try any methods to rank it top, drive more installs and reviews. On this point, there is no virtual traffic and less expense helping a lot.

Here are some methods may help you.

    Free methods

    Exchange installs & reviews/Cross promotion

Once you published your app in Store, you can market it with cross promotion with other apps by installs and reviews exchange. It is free while it is still hard to find that publishers like you. You may try some Cross-promotion networks (CPN), Facebook group or exchange forums. And there are many groups on networks where publishers can exchange installs and reviews each other. However, generating installs or reviews from users will take much longer time.

    Social media networks

Ask fans to install or review your app. Having a Facebook Page for your app is a must-have where you can ask them how they like your app designs and features and any get feedbacks. Also, you can share any news about your app, etc. However, remember not to make your posts only about your app, though. That is boring. It’s like talking to someone at a party who only talks about themselves.

    Make a video

Videos shows great ability even just 30 seconds, it has power to show users why the App is worth a try. Make up a story of your app? Show the real life? Yeah, both OK.

    Offline promotion

Make connect with your friends and families. You may ask them to help you spread your app in their relationship circle. Also, participate in meetings or conferences that are relevant to your App, and make full use of it to build partnerships.

    Paid ones

    Buy app rating & reviews

One app can get reviews, it must get installs firstly. Reviews provider like BestReviewApp will guide real users to install app, play and reviews it with ratings. This method will help a lot on app overall ranking. At the same time, the traffic is from real users which is organic. It will Not have bad impact on apps.

    Paid advertisements

CPI ad networks would be better for app installs than CPC, CPM. Run advertisements on some Android forums, Google ads or social media, it is one common method for publishers to promote app. But you know, there are many people browsing Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. There are less targeted audience for your app.

    Generate installs

Higher ranking is extremely helpful for app visibility. App can get installs from users directly via download link. Or drive install via keyword search. The former method is straight forward install amounts singly. While latter one aims at helping app ranking in App Store search results. Keyword optimization also will guide real users to install the app via targeted keywords relevant to your app. We would like to help you on this if you need.

I also submited to like 5 stores and did some smo but didnt help... buying traffic turned out to be harder than I thought.
I also tried cpimobi, but their installs are invisible from google console. Also looked at facebook, mimimum daily budget is 40 bucks, which is a lot. Airpush asks for company info during registration and few others I tried are expensive, asking 200 dollars as a minimum budget....
Didnt try feverr yet, but I will ... can anyone suggest decent traffic source that converts to installs up to 50 dollars budget.

Generally, it is important to figure out your target users based on what your product can benefit them, so that you can attract them with appropriate hooks in an appropriate area through appropriate promotion channels.
Besides, you have to know about your competitors. Not only to learn about their advantages and disadvantages, but also to know their users and their promotion channels.
The most importantly, you should know the app itself and improve it. And I totally agree with what ASOtop1 said that higher ranking is extremely helpful for app visibility. So, here's some tips for you to boost app ranking.
    - Make attractive icon
    - Optimize screenshot and description
    - Test and improve your app
    - Do app store optimization
    - Improve ratings and reviews
    - Increase traffic and downloads
-Take good use of social platforms
In addition, a good reputation of a product is definitely helpful for promotion. Same does apps promotion, users are more likely to download the app with higher ratings and more good reviews, as long as those reviews are real. Unlike others who make fake app reviews, ReviewApp4u provide real and good reviews from users all over the world.

Hello! I was able to see your issue and I'm glad to help.

I noticed that you are experiencing the same ordeal as the new guy I help in the other thread so I'm just going to relay the same advice that I gave to him and hope that this will help:

    1. Start creating blog articles about this app.
    2. Post this blog article in your website as well as in social media.
    3. Create a newsletter to promote this app and send it to your subscribers.
    4. Make a video about it and post it in social media.
    5. Create a microsite

As for your concern regarding the placement of referral links in FB, I suggest you read this article to help you more about this: Utilize social media to make money online.

And once you are able to market this app and gain a decent following, don't forget to monetize this app with the help of a reputable affiliate company...
