One man operation at the moment - looking for an inexpensive call center (scripting, information gathering, answer questions) that also does (or specializes in) doing live engagement via SMS (Texting).

Many of my customers text me with questions before they will purchase. I need a service that can field the text messages for me when I cannot, gather info and answer questions and then pass the relevant data onto me.

Questions:

1. What is this type of service called?
2. Does anyone know of any services around now that do this that would be friendly to the small business?

You need to hire somebody for customer support. I don't think there will be any service. Person who answer sms need to know your app.
Also you you need to answer 24/7 you will need several people from different timezone.

You should definitely hire a virtual assistant. Hiring a VA will take some of your work load considerably and the great thing about it is that it is absolutely friendly on your budget. You can outsource to the Philippines for workers who have the skill set that you need.

Yes, its nothing but customer support, like call answering, e-mial, chat support, it also comes under the same category. Habiliss can manage this. They manage my mails, receive phone calls and i hope they can receive and send text messages as well. Check out.
