I love them. Especially the "Spicy Pickles". Keep them up. I am in the process of creating a couple.

There are plenty of nice and inexpensive Wordpress themes here:

Hi Neil, could you tell us what size image you used for the "Emergency Plumbing Service' demo, please? I'd like to build my sites with a front page and I ain't quite sure what size image to use.

Appreciate your assistance,

Ray

Ray,

I believe the screen dimensions of an iPhone are 320 x 480 pixels. It's a good start. When using an image type landing page like that you are never going to have the one size fit all phones properly. So just go after the most popular devices. The width is the main issue though. Make sure that is 320 pixels or less. The height isn't so much of an issue because the user can easily scroll up or down.

Hi Ray

I usually work to a width of 320 when creating the designs ;-)

I am totally new to mobile marketing. My experience is mostly with desktop website design and desktop publishing. I have however become fascinated with designing/creating mobile landing pages. I started practicing doing a few and then I couldn't stop! This is what happens when one has too much free time Let me know what you think. P.S. I think there are 84 of them for 24 different business categories.

I started doing websites with Macromedia/Adobe Dreamweaver. Over time I learned if you wanted to do something really fancy and quick, Dreamweaver was not the program to use. I started to use Serif Webplus (now version X5). It is easy to use and has a lot of built in special effects.

Hey guys great thread and designs. I think I found something that will help us all! Here it is Onbile - Create your mobile website with premium templates . They basically offer completely designed mobile phone websites that you can tweek to your liking or that can you tweek for your offline clients. They even offer hosting at $12 for their month to month plan. Seems like a lot for hosting but if your client is paying say $350 plus an extra $15-$20 per month for hosting and management, no biggie right!? What do you all think of this? Hope to hear some response.

These examples are so freaking clean! I love mobile websites, I just hate the fact that my clients are not willing to convert and I have to make QR's that scan to their big clunky non-mobile.....

They must see the value in making it easy for customers to ACCESS their information - hence, their need for a QR code. Why, then, don't they take the next logical step of making it easy for them to NAVIGATE and TAKE ACTION with that info in a mobile-optimized way?

Sometimes when a person's being a bonehead, it helps to repeat back to them everything they're saying.

ie, "OK, so to make sure I understand you, you DO want to reach mobile users but you DON'T want to make it easier for them to learn about your business or potentially become a customer?"

You might find them not even understanding their own objections, and closing yourself a deal.

Your landing pages look amazing. I'm a newbie so I have to ask this question. Isn't the purpose of a mobile website to load a website as quickly as possible without all the glam and glitter of traditional websites? I don't know enough yet but it seems with all these graphics it might slow things down a bit.

Do you really think I am going to download apps for all my favorite local restaurants, bars, my plumber, my locksmith, my dentist, my mechanic, etc, etc? My phone would be full of these useless apps I use once in every blue moon.

A MUCH more sensible AND cost effective solution is for small business owners to have mobile optimized versions of their website. This way we need only bookmark our favorite sites and we don't need to download a separate app for each and every business. We can then easily access their website whenever we need to.

Besides, when I (the typical person) am looking for a service provider in my local area do you REALLY think I would go to the app store and search there? Of course I would not. I would go to Google and do my search. What am I searching for at Google? A website!

Sorry to say but websites are definitely where it is at for small local businesses - there is no denying it.

Let's not get off topic. This thread is for mobile website design examples.

Strongly agree - APPs are fine for large companies, BUT NOT local business owners. Local Business Owners simply want traffic and sales - not apps to download, etc.

Business Owners are struggling to understand the importance of mobile presence as it is, and adding APPS (and yes, they do have value) just adds more possible confusion,

Mobile sites should load as fast as possible and should not have a lot of glitter, etc.

Is it your special code that you use for the icons for the menu items and social media?

Kelvin, what are you looking at? A picture or a website? Sites will appear differently on a real phone than they will in a pixel based displayer like all "simulators" on the internet (like the mobilizer). An "emulator" will behave like a real phone but is only available for Mac users in the iPhone SDK.

PM me your real website address (don't post the URL here in public) and I'll check it for you if you like.

Really like it! looks like done with WP ezmobilegenerator.

To be honest icon based site get more client Wows than menu style because they think its like an app rather than mobile web.
Definitively thub up to your mobile design.

Actually it was built using WillR's amazing mobile templates WSO. When you join WillRs community he has a forum. In that forum an icon style front page solution was created and posted from one clever member (thanks Darren!). I took that icon based code and just changed the icons and colours and logo (made with the help of WillRs "Little Red Snapper" logo creator). As mentioned above, I made the icons myself using an icon template PSD and free icons sourced from the internet's many icon sites such as IconFinder and VeryIcon.

Here's a variation on the theme with my own "Click To Call" button, different icons and a slightly different logo.

I also have willR templates and is a forum member at willR but rarely go visit.

Bill, don't know about your sales conversion rates but mine is like 85% icon and 15% menu style, I always suggest both with a mockup when 1st started but now I don't waste my time just offer icon style. All my competitors are offering menu style in my area and that's why I'm successful, it's my USP (Unique Selling Proposition) also here is a tip. Don't tell them it's a mobile site but say mobile site app, clients knows that iphone apps are hot and always wanted to have a "app". Of course you tell them it's online and is not a native app for iphone, it's better because all mobile phones can see your site app without download anything. BINGO!
