I just got two meetings in 30 minutes

I decided after reading the thread 2 clients cold calling in offline marketing discussions.

I got my android phone and went to my maps application and pressed places, then I did a search for bars. All of the local bars in my area started popping up on the places page. Then it's easy, I go to each place page for the bar or (niche) and then I click on the page and see if they have a website, if they do I click on it to see if it's mobile ready, if not I press the back button and give them a call.

I use a simple script saying, "Hi, my name is Ryan Padilla, I am a local business owner in town and I found you on my mobile phone and noticed you don't have a mobile ready website. I would like to create a sample mobile site of your website and come in and show it to you. (How is this day)(at this time)?

I called 12 businesses and only got 3 decision makers on the phone, 2 of them said yes. All this in 30 minutes

I don't know how the appointments will go, as I am brand spanking new at all of this and still have to buy Quentin's script and learn how to use it.

I have a meeting on Tuesday at 2 and one for Thursday at 11am. I am going to go in and show them the website, but don't quite know how to sell it to them, hoping the site will sell itself. If anyone has any suggestions on this I would really love to hear what you have to say.

Anyways, I hate cold calling, always have, but i had to suck it up and now I just want to say, with this particular thing for getting appointments, it's like shooting fish in a barrel. I think once I up my selling skills it would be easy to have this replace my stupid restaurant job. There are a bunch of other things I am going to do as well. In the meeting I am going to attempt to get an interview with them to do a review on there business in a directory website I am going to build. Somehow after selling the client or not I want to go into the interview questions mentions to gather information and build trust with the business owner and find out what they are doing in there marketing and how I can somehow fit in. There are so many upsells that I am seeing and I basically see it in my head like this.

All we need is a foot in to meet the business owner/Decision maker and to get in and build trust and to give them value by finding out what they are doing and after finding out what they are doing I plan on telling them how they can market more cost effectively. like using google voice for there offline marketing to track results, claiming there google places page, barrying bad reviews by adding good reviews and dealing with there customers before they leave the establishment to see if they were happy with there experience, onsite offsite seo, backlinks, press realeases, articles. I am hoping to give them so much free information that they will just ask me to do it for them. And then when I do a good job for them, I plan to do upsells.

I purchased the ambulance method from Costa's Peppas and found a lot of businesses that need reputation management, these two businesses that I am meeting need it, as I saw right on my cell phone when I was searching for businesses that need a mobile site. They need reputation management too, and there are some very ugly websites out there too.

There are also so many that don't even have a website, but I have to figure out how to sell those first before I get into websites. I am planning on outsourcing this stuff to when I get busy so I can solely focus on marketing and generating new accounts for my business. I have not made any money from this, but the warrior forum is really like a college. I've earned more from this place than my 5 years in college ever taught me.

I'm so excited, and the WF provides a wealth of information, I am just on information overload and currently in the process of taking everything that I have learned here in a matter of weeks to bring it all together. I am trying to somehow take everything I learn from here and put it together.

I know how easy it is form personal experience to suffer from 'information overload' but if you stay focused and keep doing what you're doing then you'll make a killing!

Being pro-active in lead generation is the way to go and you've definatley made a great start!

Hey Ryan,

Great that you are taking action, i hope it works out for you.

I`m also trying to get all of this together like you..

But i have to find a good va to outsource too because my mind is to explode already with all the information and tasks that come with providing services..
Making websites, facebookpages, facebookshops, google places, mobile websites, qr codes, video`s on your own is hardly possible...if you still want to get some sleep now and then..

Awesome job Ryan,

Your story sounds like mine from Wed. I called a few places and with the first two I got appointments but the other ones I couldn't get a hold of the owner.

I like your Google places to find leads idea. I'll have to try that one.

Also, I had a quick minute to myself while picking up the kids from school today so I called a local diner (the place is set up like it's in the 1950s...pretty cool). Anyway, their website is terrible so I called and used the same type of script you did.

He said for me to come in next Wed at 2:00. So for now I have 3 appointments for next week and hope to set up some more on Monday.

This weekend I'll be preparing various promo literature and a mobile website contract. I also want to set up some QR Code magic to show them some stuff with that while I'm there.

My goal is to mainly sell the mobile website and hopefully convince them into working on their regular one as well. Sell it as a package deal at a good price. Then after they get comfortable with me (maybe a month or two later) I can hit them up with new ideas such as videos, SMS, etc.

But like I said, the goal for now is to just sell the one item. I don't want to scare them away with too much information.

Mike, so glad I read this! I have this exact plan, but I'm yet to take action on it fully.

Would love to know more about your future offers of upsells! A mobile website alone does not bring risidual income, so I suppose it all depends on upsells as to the success of these ventures.

Hey Ryan, What do you plan on doing with the people who didn't have a website at all on google maps?

I was looking through and there are actually people without a site... you just focusing on mobile for now?

It was your post mrcouchpotato, that inspired me to take action! So thank you for that.

I am going to try and upsell them on being there marketing consultant and bringing them more business, by finding out what they are currently doing with there advertising and recommending different things to them. While maximizing the customers and followers they already have, through sms text messaging, email marketing, etc.

How exactly do you right a contract, I'll have to google this. I still have to build the sample pages, I bought Quinten's script. I hope I spelled that right, it seems like a bit of a learning curve for me as i don't really know how to read HTML or webdesign language, but it's okay, I hope I can make it work, I'll try my best.

When I call these businesses it's amazing how easy it is to get them to agree to an appointment. The second appointment the guy asked me if I could come in that day. Still have to make the sample, but damn the response is unbelievable. I never thought it would have ever been that easy. I am going to devote my whole day Saturday and Sunday to focusing on learning how to set up the samples and see if I can make the sites really nice, if not I will outsource it in the future, but the point is I am almost scared to set any appointments until I have learned the script. I will have it learned by the end of the weekend.

And then come monday I am on the phone for 3 hours a day to fill up my time with meeting business owners. I think it's also important to find other ways to get the foot in the door, hopefully after I have enough money from mobile sites or consulting I can start to hire someone, and then it's on to creating new ways to get business. That's another thing, I bought Costas Peppas Ambulance method and I implemented that I starting sending out emails instead of direct mail though because I don't have money for direct mail. I had two business owners call me back, I lost the sale because it took me by surprise when they called, but I have since finely tuned what I do when they call back, I sent out 22 emails and got two calls back and two emails, that's pretty sweet odds if you ask me. I have since been working on building value in the script and outline of my services for that one method alone. What i think it's about for me so far is just finding new ways to create contact with these business owners and using that as a way in, and after providing them with value and delivering on the services, I have then proven myself and will have my foot in to create a lasting business relationship and having them gladly hand over there referrals. HOPE!

I know that I am getting way ahead of myself here, but the point, is that I hope everyone see's the potential in themselves and in being able to create there own way of making money. Seriously I've been around the warrior forum for about 4 weeks or something not sure and too lazy to look really. I learned about it years ago, but I didn't pay any attention, that was dumb. This place is a gold mine, literally. There are so many creative ideas, and it really sparks my mind and gets the creative flame burning to a point where I am starting to tie things together and come up with my own money making ideas. it's about trying new things and finding the ones that work and keeping them, fine tuning them and at the same time developing new ways to create new business, new ways to get ourselves in front of business owners to offer them value.

And we are offering them new ways to market there business or whatever it is that we are offering. Correct me if I'm wrong about that somebody please, I am in no way an expert, I am brand spanking new to this, but my point is that if you apply the stuff the people that are actually successful and making money on this forum are saying, you will make money. If you don't then it's impossible for me to believe that your trying your hardest.

If you want this you can get it, and I think knowing that is half the battle, knowing that you can and having that in your mind. That at least has lead me to believe in this, and I know that I can make a business out of this and create wealth for myself. If you have that desire and confidence in yourself than how can anything bad come out of it.

Things might get frustrating and hard when you aren't getting new business and I know because I'm still working at a restaurant for crying out loud, I have no furniture in my apartment, my girlfriend and I sleep on a memory foam pad because the cat got on to the air mattress and popped it, i don't have any choice but to make this work, because nothing else is cutting it for me, I have to make this work, and trust me getting turned down by a few businesses and having people think I'm crazy for trying to achieve this doesn't %&*$&#* matter, because finally after searching very deep and learning I know that this is something I can do, and anyone who believes in themselves can do.

I'm sorry if I have gone off on a tangent and gone off subject if that is annoying to anyone, you maybe saying this guy is new, he doesn't know what the hell he is talking about, but that's the thing I'm trying to say, it doesn't matter to me, all that matters to me is that I want a good life and I am going to stick my kneck out there and offer services that I know are good for small businesses, too many people are hurting right now, and I know I can help them, and I also have something to offer to those that are thriving. i can help them get more customers, I know I can make there business endeavors more fruitful no matter how successful they are, and that is what I am seeking to do. No matter how successful they are, I am almost 100% percent sure there is something that a business is missing in there marketing efforts, and if I can get that message across to a business that is already thriving then that is grounds for making the big bucks.

I felt inspired to write this and I hope it was not too much of a bore, but anyway, thank everyone so much on this forum that has helped me and thank everyone for giving such valuable free information.

God can you imagine what my posts are going to be like when I actually start making some money.

I am planning on selling them a website and a mobile site, I am devising a plan on what to do for that, but honestly the leads for businesses that have a website and not a mobile website are burning hot!!! Because a lot of them already realize the importance of having a website, and mobile sites are still generally new to many, many, many businesses, not to all of them, but it is new to a lot of them. And the business owners a lot of times are going to want to keep up with the times and make there site mobile ready once they see the difference on a cell phone.

If anyone has any input on selling a website to businesses please chime in and give some advice because I also would love to know how you go in cold to sell a website.

I am not just focused on mobile, I am focused on everything, like I said I have information overload, and I am just trying not to get the cart before the horse. But there are so many things we can offer a small business.

The main thing I am focused on is developing new business and finding something to get my foot in the door to gain trust from these business owners and make money while doing that. For example getting a business to let me come in and meet the owner is what I am trying to do, and I am trying to create several different avenues of achieving this, mobile websites being one way to get in, reputation management being another one of them. I saw a post for contacting businesses about there groupon ad and offering them a way to capture a lot of that flood of new customers through text messaging and email marketing, by getting the customers contact info when they come in for the groupon offer and when new people just come in in general, and then offering there own deals after capturing peoples info so they can make offers to that list and make all of the profit. So i hope I am clearly making my point because I am not the best writer in the world, but the point is, I am finding as many ways as i possibly can to get my foot in the door to offer my front end products and then upselling to them in the future things that will cost a monthly fee. And growing at a rate I can handle so I can handle any new business that come from this. I listened to offlinerockstars.com interviews and learned so much. One of the main things I took away in one of the interviews was making a plan and to only take on as much new business as you can handle. And making sure when you grown to a point that you can't take on anymore new business to use that new money to put back into your business to make it better and finely tune things to handle what is going on and to get ready for new growth so that you can prepare it to grow more and handle more clients.

I think that's more than just a straight up cold calling since many (if not all) small business owners truly should have mobile sites nowadays. You don't need some sleazy selling tactics to trick them into purchasing that since it is a clear need. Good work!

I would look at Google there is a tool to search places for the same type of business in the same area. It provides a list and you can cold from it.

I have been working on some up-sells to so I will need to integrate that as well after the initial contract is signed and I have a check in my hand.

I am working on the contract as of the moment I finish this post.

The pricing I am going to be using is
$350 a year if hosted on my server
$500 if they want the files to upload on their own servers.
$525 if they want me to upload it for them.

I am finding a ton of people that don't have websites as well.

I called a coffee shop today and figured out he is looking to build a new website, I am putting together a sample for him and then going to send it to him. I said I would have it ready in a few days. Then he would like to meet with me next week if he likes what I come up with. He doesn't even want a mobile site, but I am going to create a sample just in case because of how easy it is.

Also a lot of small businesses websites are not very good, so I would like to look into the quality of there existing websites and work out a package to do upgrades in addition to mobile sites.

And again I mention reputation management due to the fact that some of these businesses are hurting from their bad reviews and if I can show them the value of them letting me help them then I'm sure there are a lot of upsells there too. Reputation management is pretty big right now I would assume, especially because of the fierce competition. And when a business has bad reviews eeryone can see them, and they can also see them compared to the other businesses that pop up above and below them. It doesn't make there business look very good when they have bad reviews and the businesses above and below them have goodreviews. WHO DO YOU THINK YOU WOULD WANT TO DO BUSINESS WITH? The business with good reviews or the business with bad ones.

I have my first appointment tomorrow, I have one on wednesday, and thursday too, I just finished my mock-up sites for the first two appointments. I have to get the contracts and invoices printed out and prepare for my meetings. I make sure and generate a qr code for each business so I can take my smart phone in and say, "here is your existing website on my phone, here is the sample I created for you, I then will give them my phone after I open the qr code reader and say scan the barcode. Then it will lead them right to the site for them to browse around and see for themselves how cool this stuff is.

I also want to try and get them to let me do there sms marketing and email marketing for them. I haven't figured out my prices for that yet.
And I haven't figured out how I am going to try and get them to let me be there marketing consultant, but if you do the research you can see that a lot of businesses marketing is outdated and they need our help. It's just getting the message across and building trust.

I will let you know how each appointments goes and update everyone on any problems and successes I run into.

You are right, that is why these leads are so hot right now, because a lot of smart business owners know they need one. I am also finding in my calls that a lot of businesses don't even know what I mean by mobile friendly.

One guy said, "the website comes up on my phone just fine, it works."
I explained to him that it doesn't fit the screen and you have to scroll around and zoom in and out to find things which can be confusing to the users on a cell phone.

Hi,

I have heard that a lot also from 'potential' clients:
{the website comes up on my phone just fine, it works.}
They don`t see the problem with scrolling and fiddling around with the screen..
I even had restaurant owners tell me; yeah but they can download the menu pdf, haha
some people just don`t get it
I will have to make a website that really shows them how they are losing customers or a free report for them to download with all the benefits that a mobile website offers..


And i thought i was stoked, i love your drive man, i`m sure you will get sales in the next few weeks.

overcoming your fear of cold-calling was your first challenge, check-off list.. now go invest a day playing with Quentin's WSO.

i bought it, and his videos/the script will help you get started building sites, and from there is just just "practice, practice, practice" to become proficient/confident in doing it. he offers some good resources for graphics/templates as well.

So I have my first appointment at two chicago time. I have one tomorrow and one thrusday as well.

I finished the first two mock ups and generated qr codes for both I can't wait to see the wow factor when I ask them to scan it with there smart phone or mine if they don't have one.

you definitely get better with practice. My sites are looking better and better

I am working on building my website as well for marketing consultant. I am dong some seo and backlinking for it and really trying to get it to be a killer website so I can start emailing people and letting them take a look at my portfolio and website before they decide to do business with me if that's what they want and I have been finding that it is what a lot of businesses ask for.

I'm a bit nervous, but I really think the product will sell itself, and I certainly hope that is true, I will let everyone know how things go.

So I went in today and talked to the director of marketing and pr. she loved everything I had to offer. She loved the site and was amazed when I told her about my directory idea along with sms marketing and email marketing.

She can't hand out checks, but she is the direct contact to the person that makes the decisions and she is going to discuss with him everything and hopefully I will have a meeting with them. Anyways, I didn't sell anything yet, but the meeting went very well. It was short, but it was sweet.

I sent an email detailing what I will be doing for the mobile site along with additional services including sms and email marketing and a gem of an idea I got from one of Don Alm's posts.

This business is basically headquarters for everything Irish in my city and I proposed a directory website, lisiting businesses that are irish related. And they can hand out a link or qr code to the directory of irish businesses to their patrons. I will go out and charge a fee for these irsih related businesses to advertise on the directory for $$$. I will charge a yearly or monthly fee, but I haven't worked that out yet. Got to figure out what makes the most sense for all parties involved. Anyways I offered to give the irish headquarters a percentage of my advertising profits just for handing the directory out to all of there patrons and She loved it.

This could be great to generate more revenue for them.

That's all I got. She didn't have any objections and didn't even really say too much, she just simply said I love the idea and I will be bringing it up to my boss. I will follow up with them later this week. Probably friday. I Already sent the email and left a voicemail stating that I sent the email.

My fingers are crossed, but for now I got to focus on my future meeting.

How is everyone else doing, does anyone have any ideas they wish to share that could help me and others out?

This is so fun!

I can already feel my new bed coming and furniture and a refrigerator full of all my favorite food and snacks.

Perfect job .... do you have a screenshot of the demo site you made?
Those scripts you can do a lot of editing to make it the way you want.

Its all about making calls now getting more meetings.

Okay so I had a meeting today with the president of a corporation that is in the coffee selling business. I try not disclose the clients I am working with just because I don't want to risk losing them. Call me paranoid, but oh well.

Anyways, I met with the president and she was blown away by the site.

She showed up about 30 minutes late, but it's okay because the meeting went so well that I don't mind her tardiness at all. I went into talking about her website and showed her how it wasn't user friendly at all on a mobile phone, I then had her scan the qr code to the site I built her and she was amazed. She looked at the new website and was really involved in looking and browsing around. She was amazed at the tap to call and tap for direction features. She just couldn't believe it and she was so excited that she grabbed one of her managers and told him to have a look. Shen then went on and asked me if she could keep the qr code so she could bring it to the office and show everyone in the office. I of course gave it to her.

She decided that she wanted to take a look at the contract that I had written up and she wanted it to sink in for a day and that I can call her tomorrow. She said I want to do this right now, but I have to let it sink in because I don't want my excitement to get the best of me.

I told her that the contract is just something I bring in to go over with you, but I am willing to work with you on the contract if you see anything you don't like and she was really happy about that.

She informed that national coffee day is next week and that the company just purchased a vehicle to drive around the city and hand out free bags of coffee and she wants me to set up a page for the company with a special promotion in honor of national coffee day. She wants to put a qr code on all of the free stuff that she gives out, and build up a little mobile page on the mobile website promoting that special offer. She just kept going on about all these things she thinks that this mobile ready stuff will be good for in the future of the company.

She then went on to ask me if I do anything special for her if she gave me referrals. I said yes of course I will work out something special just for you. She went on to add as an oh by the way that the clients she would be referring are very big and successful companies. One being The Chicago Trump Tower. Holy hell!!!!!

I also discussed the existing website and it needs a lot of work, she just kept going on about how ugly the site was and how it wasn't user friendly at all. She possilby wants me to do a redesign of the website and also wants me to fix some problems in google places that I found when I was just looking on there. First of all the google places page still direct to there old website. And they just had a new website built, but it is quite confusing either way, so hopefully I get commissioned to build a new site as well.

I am amazed by this meeting. I thought she was the marketing director, but she told me that she was promoted a little while back to president. So without even knowing it almost the whole meeting until she told me, I was sitting with the president of a big corporation talking and having coffee.

Haha the whole time I'm sitting there thinking oh god please do this, I got to buy some damn furniture and rent is coming up soon, and I am running out of groceries.

I have another appointment tomorrow, got to get on the horn early in the morning and call more businesses to fill up my next week. I am trying to hire an appointment setter as soon as I have the money for it. Hope that happens very soon. And I have about 3 more more poeple that I know that want me to do this for them. I am building a website for my business and yes of course it will be mobile friendly. I can't wait to start marketing through direct mail and setting up more marketing for my company.

I hope I am not boring anyone by sharing this stuff. I am only sharing it to let you know that you can do this if you're new and you're wondering how to put it all together. I am new too and I have never done any of this until about 3 weeks ago, but it is possible to make money on your own. And one day you could be sitting in your apartment not knowing how to pay the rent, with no food in your fridge and no furniture except a foam mat to sit on, and the next day you could be having a meeting with the president of a major corporation drinking coffee and talking about doing business with the trump tower of Chicago.

Not trying to brag, but come on that's pretty fu%$*&% cool lol.

I will add some screen shots to my sites as soon as i figure out how to do that.

I like that free report idea. How would you get that in the business owners hands? I am looking into writing a simple book outlining all of the internet stuff a business should focus on, like google places optimization, mobile sites, seo, websites, internet marekting, etc. And want to start a meet up group. I have read a lot of stuff about doing meetups and speaking in front of small business owners and that it's a great way to get people to trust you and do business with you. A lot of people are getting lots of business, and referrals from these meetings.

Anyway i like the free report idea.

Is anyone using direct mail or anything? so far the best way I have found is cold calling, but I would really like to know if anyone has different tactics.

Ive seen quite a few posts that say the same thing you are saying here in the MM section. It just goes to show that if you cold call for ANYTHING, you will find there is still a HUGE market for websites... and to think they say that market is saturated. Heck you run into a ton of biz owners that need a site ACCIDENTALLY if you just cold call, even if its not for websites.

Although I think mobile marketing could be a better door opener than a standard website pitch, and maybe open some people up who wouldnt admit they needed one if you were calling for that reason.

I may run a test next week on that and let you know the results.

I can't remember where I got the idea from damn it. But anyways I got frustrated because I have run into a bit of a slow streak with the cold calls and setting appointments which I know is to be expected. So I called a funeral service today and presented the owner with the idea I got from one of the posts on this forum and thought it would be great to try out.

Here's the idea, I saw a video about qr codes on grave stones and having them link to a webpage that leads to the deceased persons memorial website, and honoring the memory of that person. So the job is to basically build a mobile site and website that is dedicated to the memory of that deceased person and put the qr code linking to it on the grave stone so anyone could scan it and bring that persons story right on their phone. What a golden idea! Wish I could give credit to the person that gave this gem to the warrior forum. If you read this thank you.

Anyway, I called the owner of a funeral service today and presented him with a short version of the idea. He said that it sounded like something he would possibly consider. So I asked for a meeting with him to show him a sample and talk to him about the possibilities. He is meeting with me on Tuesday.

There are a ton of funeral homes out there and what better way to honor your family then making the memory of them virtual. I would definitely want to honor the memory of my deceased loved one with this and when I go visit the great what better way to scan through the past than having there story right at my finger tips.

Anyways I have a question.

Am I allowed take this idea and use it to make money for myself??

If it were me, and it's not, I would just start, and see what works. Try both of them and see which you have more success with.

You just have to find someone to do the metal print.

Just google metal print. Find a company and call them to work out some sort of deal with them, once you have a few funeral homes that you set the deal with tell the print shop that you would like to set up a wholesale deal or offer to build them a mobile website for a break on the cost of prints.

I just offered my improv school a mobile website for free classes. Haha. She said she would think about it. Out of all the companies that probably do this, I'm sure you can find someone to give you a deal. And think if you could build them a site and get referrals from them. Print shops have a lot of small business clients I would assume, so while I am typing this bam I found another way to get more clients. Set the print shop up to do all of prints and start bringing them lots of orders from the metal prints on the gravestones. And also ask them for referrals to all of the accounts they have. Now you have a relationship with them and referrals for more small businesses that need a mobile site.

You bet you are. Swipe and deploy, go for it. You can add a twist of your own to the idea like a Facebook page, or a message to the family page.

PS just a fair warning, I'm no expert or anything, but you should probably look twice about sharing stuff or photos even that might give away private details since-- you could get in breach of contract or a zillion other things. Not trying to scare you, but contracts may do stuff like that, etc. When in doubt-- especially if you're just starting, take caution, since it can come back to bite you later when you've got a whole business.

Glad to see all this success. It makes me really happy to see people that were in the same position as me (not knowing where my next come-up of money was going to be from) succeeding with their business ventures.

Mobile web sites are awesome and very easy to sell, especially if you have a smart phone and can show them business owner or marketing director or whatever right on the spot!

Anyways, were you able to collect a check? Coffee is for closers remember... CLOSE the deal and get a signature and a check before you give away the house.

The coffee shop has not called back. I called and left a message for the president and basically said.

"Hello, Its Ryan, and I am calling to follow up to find out if you are interested still or not in the mobile website. Either way if you could give me a call back and let me know at (my number). I will go ahead and leave the site up for the rest of the week and if I don't hear back from you I will assume it means you are not interested and I will delete the files. Thank you I am excited to hear from you and have a nice day."


I don't know if she will call or not obviously, but we'll see.

I had a meeting at noon today and I sold a site to a restaurant. We are working out the rest of the details about what he wants on the site,but the contract is signed. Now he just has to pay me. He was super busy the entire meeting so it wasn't the best time, but he said no please lets just do this meeting now and get it done with. I said okay and he signed the contract and now I am having to go back in this week to collect the check.

I have 3 appointments with funeral homes this week to show them what I got and hopefully they would like to do business, and I am sure that they will, because it's a way for them to bring in more profit and it's so easy to tell them about the memorial mobile sites.

I have run into a brick wall with setting appointments for mobile websites, but I just have to keep calling, it's been pretty hard to get the owners on the phone, the good thing is that some people are telling me when to call back to speak with the owner, so I have several places to call back this week, and I am continuing to call new businesses to try and set appointments. I thought this method would be easy to get at least one appointment a day, but a lot of the time I am realizing that it's not. I hope this doesn't discourage anyone, because it's still good, you just have to be dedicated and don't let 100 no's discourage you. Keep calling! that yes will come, and I know once I get some businesses to work with I can start my referral marketing tactic from there. Referrals are the prize and are part of my long term goals for the month. my short term goals are getting at least one appointment a day.

So I just have to keep calling businesses no matter how many damn no's I get. Is it frustrating? Hell yes it is, but anything worth it isn't going to be easy. This is so new to businesses still and it's something they need. Which is why it's so important to get them to sit down for a meeting. This stuff is so valuable and I know if they just sit down with me I can show them why there business needs it.

I will leave an update on the coffee shop if anything changes, and I am also waiting to hear back from the Irish Culture center. If they don't call back and anyone has any advice on what to do in this situation please add.

I thought for sure I had them sold, but now I just can't figure out what went wrong, because they all seem so excited about this stuff, but they haven't been back in touch yet.

I realize they're very busy so maybe that's it, but all I can do is wait I guess.

This is great stuff Ryan and all.

I saw someone ask about price points.

2 examples now - working on a lead here in New Orleans - I charge $500 for a fully customized mobile site.

I'm also working with an electrician - his site was really out of date. There was an opportunity to do both his main site and mobile site - a "twofer." It's really a great situation b/c now I can control the look feel and marketing message as we brainstorm together. For this I'm billing $1800 and instead of a monthly fee for additional work (he's very proactive and invests alot in his marketing) - I've negotiated a $97/hr. rate to work with him and his assistant on their email marketing.

The key is to not sell - as Ryan was sharing earlier - many businesses know there's a problem, they just haven't made the connection. I offer them education and back it up with stats that are relevant to them. Having something they can look at - a mockup is a great idea - even if it's something that you created for yourself.

Hey Ryan, thanks for the update. I'm new to mobile stuff but I have done a little sales. So my tip is to keep the flame at constant temp. Sell the sizzle not the steak right? Well you can't get a sizzle if there's no heat. These guys will be busy doing their day to day stuff. Give them a follow up call and then follow that up with an email.

If they're interested but say they're busy, just turn up. This is when they're slow. Caves, restaurants always have slow times during the day/night.

Get in the ear of the 2ic. Sometimes the decision is made but they have no time, so this will prompt them to delegate.

Keep at it and keep us informed. This is great stuff.

Don't want to go too off track here but I imagine the biggest downfall to this mobile marketing and setting up a meeting is reaching the boss of a company. Do people only attempt to cold call and get hold of the person in charge or are people following up with an e-mail?

Personally I may try the cold calling to speak with the manager first, then if no luck send an e-mail specifying why you was trying to reach him and then call back a few days later to try again and see if he got the e-mail. In the e-mail you can do a simple pitch and specify that you will call back to try to reach him/her again. They may end up telling staff that if such a person calls to put you through so you can have a word.
