My SMS Site Looking for Feedback!
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

Hey everyone, I am getting ready to launch an SMS service and wanted some feedback on what you think about my site, Shout by Text its not completely done and the system is not set up yet but we are close. Let me know what you think, like I said we are not completely done but what do you think about the look and feel; plus the video

I appreciate any advice you might have.

Thanks,
Shawn

Very nice site. Is that Wordpress? The video content is great, but the voiceover seems a little annoying. I expected him to say "dude" at any moment. Nice site though.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, it is a wordpress site. Lol, I actually kind of like the voiceover, but know what you mean. I had a few options but this guy had a professional studio and some experience.

Thanks again.

Looks pretty good, but one thing that caught my eye was the features page. Seems like it's a little blank or missing something, can't quite put my finger on it though.

I know what you mean, I think I am going to try a 2 column approach and see if that helps. Just seems bare or something. Thanks for the advice!

It was concise and I was impressed by that. One of the problems with sites nowadays is too much information in too little space (clutter). This is what I like about the mobile site trend of getting to the point.

Keep that site clean! Do not make em think too much, do not let them see a complicated front end. They will then dread the backend being even more complicated and go look for something else.

Perhaps....just maybe a 2 column layout can help by reducing scrolling but I loved that you keep it simple.

Thanks, and you totally hit my motto of keep it simple. I definitely want it easy for people to make a decision and not make it more noisy than it needs to be. Thanks again.

Very well done! Love the name! Your site is clean and clear with good navigation. I do agree that the voice is annoying. He sounds too young and a bit too much. I also think that you'd be wise t add that they can have any kind of offer they want - it's amazing how stupid people can be and some may think that's the only offer they can make...

Best of luck!

Good looking site. Very simple. I like how you have your logo on your video. For me at first I didn't recognize that's it a working video. If you would change the picture frame of the video to look more like at video instead of a white rectangular screen.

Best of luck to you!

unnatural has a good point about your features page. I'd leave it "as is" only add a couple text lines under what you have now in bold. Make the bold text one font larger and your new added text smaller.

I think that all you need. Site looks great.

Hey there Shawn,

First off - Clean, simple and straight forward - I Likeeee very much

2nd - Solid, quick intro video - gave me enough info to at least want to find out more about your service!

The following suggestions are nit picky and I can be anal, so please take them as just my viewpoint.

Home Page - There is a Features button and a Features section, where one has nothing to do with the other. Just think about it. Maybe name the bottom section "Why Buy From Us" or "Why Use Our Service." Also, a little too much white space between the Logo and menu. No need to justify everything either left or right, try center sometimes.

Feature Page - Gray Home / Features bar, just get rid of it. Looks sparse, try 2 or maybe 3 column approach as you stated, this will keep the scrolling to a minimum or eliminate it.

Get Started Page - Gray Home / Get Started bar, just get rid of it. PO Box address can look disingenuous or as a fly by night company. Just remove it. Do you need all the fields filled out on the form, either way let the client know what you need as a minimum. I like the call to action in getting them to contact you and setting them up a demo. Maybe give them a little more detail ie - Fill out the form and we will contact you on a trial demo within 24 hours, or something like that. Do some A/B testing in this area as well if you are not sure what to put.

Also, let them know on the Home Page that you can give them a trial spin.

On both the Contact and About Pages - Gray bar be gone! Too many WP themes do this as a default and it drives me batty.

Humanize the site a little so the clean lines are not misjudged as a cold, heartless company that just wants your money. ie - Your copy and your Twitter feed.

Just one more thing, your copy on your features. As the saying goes sell them the sizzle not the steak! I look at this as Shout by Text has a solid service and a great team behind it, the STEAK. However, how am I, Sam Q Customer going to benefit from using your service, the SIZZLE! Point out the obvious to customers on how SBT can benefit them.

Here is a short article I found on Features and Benefits that does a pretty good job of explaining what I am trying to get across Features-Benefits

Shawn, overall love the site and its simplicity!!! And I applaud you for finding a path and taking action on this. I wish you well my friend and please let me know how things progress.

Sam

First off, I can't say thank you enough to everyone who made suggestions or just pointed out things they like, I truly appreciate it.

I made some changes to the Features page and made it 2 column and I agree it does look better.

Sam, its funny you mentioned Why Us because I was thinking the same thing and you are totally right. I'll be making that change tonight or sometime this week.

To be honest on the copywriting I have'nt really given it any thought but totally agree that its better to add the sizzle, which I will do.

Love the suggestions on making the trial available on the homepage more visible. I will definitely implement.

Sam, totally agree about some the WP stuff and design. While I do know a little about designing I tend to stay away from it, but I will get with the creator of the theme to see what we can do.

Thanks Everyone, I truly appreciate all the comments.

Oh and I do SEO so once I do my keyword research I'll work on working all that in there.

I really like it! Like everyone has said simple and straight forward. I realize that your not finished yet but I would suggest if you do not already intend on doing so, add a pricing page. As simple and straight forward as it is, from what I've seen, people like to search the internet and find the answers they need before calling.
Secondly I currently resell for someone, but I can not tell you how many times I've been asked if someone can resell my service. If you don't already have intentions to do so I would highly recommend it.
Best of luck,

Thanks, I do plan on putting the pricing on there and totally agree. I am working on my pricing structure currently. I basically am trying to undercut everyone from a pricing standpoint. The provider I will be going with is working on a white label feature and currently has resellers and sale agents. If you would like to be a reseller let me know and ill keep you posted.

Agreed on the simple yet effective design. I'd add more colors though. Example: the logos at the bottom of the page, or on the buttons. Only the features pages seem to have some color and it makes the page come alive. It would be very simple tweaks. Otherwise, it's pretty damn fine.

The video and voice is "in your face" but in line with your company name (and nice logo BTW). If you realize you cater to a more older, conservative crowd, then I would tone it down. For the younger crowd, it's a keeper.

Pricing can be a double edged sword because when you do this you become a commodity and there will always be someone who will be cheaper than you. Always. Do you really want your clients saying "well, XXX text service is .25 cents cheaper than you, so I"m going to go with them".

Position yourself as a text marketing consultant, and you'll be able to get higher prices. Trust me, most biz owners will need help with something as basic as putting together a good text offer to send to subscribers. And before they can even do that, they will need help just GETTING subscribers. You simply have to work with them, and help them be successful.

Most biz owners are used to paying hundreds of $$ per month for newspaper and YP ads that don't work, so don't be afraid to charge them a monthly fee for their text marketing and throw your expertise in the deal. They want customers, and if you can bring them customers via text message marketing then charge accordingly for your services.

I like the site and I've seen a lot of them out there. It had a feel of some that I've seen before until I clicked the video. I really like your video, the voice-over guy is good to me. What service are reselling? I've been researching for a minute and just wondering what is the best strategy to go with. ~ Brandy

Hello MCConnon,
I like your site...our firm positions itself as a consultant to the small and mid-sized business owner. You definitely will fine business owners wanting you to do the work...so price your services within the bounds of what you can live with....going forward. Being the low cost provider is fine...but then you have guys like us that give Unlimited Text and Unlimited Keywords...for a flat monthly fee.

We also offer white label reseller texting websites...so PM me and I'll provide our website and more information.

Best of luck with your new ADventure...UncleChucke

Nice, simple and clean. Interesting about the white-label feature. I used a company a few months ago that has a very similar page layout...wonder if that is the one you're using. Won't mention names of competitors in the thread.

Our firm, ELOOKMEDIA is designing Websites and Back-End all year long so let me give you a couple professional advices.

This site is too simple!

Add color like on the button to click to see the video [important]

Add color on the logos [Footer] and links [thats the bare minimum]

Lay out is alright but on Text and mobile marketing features | Shout by Text

Separate the benefits from Social media integration like FB

Need a pricing table,

Still need a lot of work but you will get there.

Check your forms, keep the fields minimal. more fields, Less answers!

ALSO. Hows the results on SMS campaign directed to B2B?

Is SMS still more effective for B2B campaign?

Does anybody out there has some metrics?

Agree with the other comments... it's nice and clean. For something that can be technical and "over their heads" it's important to keep it easy to understand.

One suggestion, focus more on the benefits business owners achieve by using text marketing. More sales, more customers, etc. rather than just the features. Text coupons are one of the most beneficial since they can get customers in the door quickly, raise sales right away with them. So even though it is on the features page, I would make text coupons it's own bullet, and make it the top left instead of top right.

I think the message is clear and direct; however, the repeat of the graphics detracted from the message a little. I agree that the voice is raspy, but your voice is your voice, right? I'd rather hear you than have some fake voice deliver the message.

Nice video, I like it, nice webbpage.

Just some suggestions top of my head.

Like your site. However before your customers to go forward and signup for a demo you need to provide more solid data than commercial videos in my opinion. (cost, guarantees, etc). Some customer example videos that tells that thier ROI has increased etc..
