Can I have some opinion:
Does anyone send out Aweber/Getresponse mailing list email using Blackberry phone?
Or is it majority of us here prefer the iPhone rather than other brand such as Blackberry, LG, Samsung, SONY?
Thanks for your opinion

I have used both the iPhone and Blackberry and I must say I prefer both of them for certain tasks.

I much prefer my Blackberry 9700 for doing all my emailing and text messaging. Nothing beats having the actual full qwerty keyboard when trying to fire out emails or text messages nice and quickly. I've never been able to do is quite as fast on a touch screen type phone such as the iPhone. I also love the battery life of my Blackberry.

In terms of apps and adding additional functionality to the phone then the iPhone is definitely the clear winner. It's also much better for searching the web. This does come at a cost though since the battery life gets chewed up much quicker.

They are both great phones that have been built for different purposes. The Blackberry has typically always been designed with the business person in mind. Someone who needs quick and easy access to all their emails and is not too fussed about the novelty side of a phone.

The iphone, from my experience, is more suited to those who do a lot of web surfing and like to treat their phone like a bit of a toy.

This is funny. We wouldn't be having this conversation if it were not for the iPhone because there wouldn't be a mobile sub forum here. The iPhone ushered in the mobile web and mobile marketing as we know it back in 2007.

I think you will find that the majority of people prefer the iPhone.

Simply put, it's more reliable and runs smoother. MUCH smoother. This is coming from a guy who has had multiple blackberries, seen his parents go through blackberries, seen his friends go through blackberries, and also the same applies for androids and iPhones.

I continuously have heard people that switched from the iPhone to the blackberry resent their decision (also apple users that have switched to the android). The reasoning is simple... Androids and blackberries seem to clog up overtime and their keyboards simply do not cut it.

The iPhone is far more advanced and with iOS 5 and the next iP coming out..... theres no reason to not get it lol. I've waited in line for every single one and you better believe i'm doing the same here!!! it's a great time to network lol.

This!... market is primarily Droid vs iOS now, RIM has fallen waaaaay behind on the BB phones, their just plain clunky and non-smooth to use. I had a Bold and the whole BB email/text thing is overrated, I have no problem with text and email on my iPhone.

iOS is much smoother and so much more you can do, especially being jailbroken my phone is fully customized. I can type faster on the iPhone than the BB's or other phones that have keyboards.

I actually think the easiest & most effective twist to this is to draft the message you want to send your list while on a desktop computer or laptop. Save the draft & then send it from your mobile. It's quicker to type it up that way & you still get the coolness factor of having it sent from "my iPhone" or "my Blackberry."

As to which phone is cooler, Blackberry is a pretty straight laced business phone IMO; I think iPhone has a lot more options which I like. I personally was so glad to get rid of my Blackberry, but that's just me

I have had a Blackberry for 5+ years, Android for one month, and iPhone for 1+ years. I loved my Blackberry during the time I used it but wanted something more dynamic so I switched to an Android. I felt the Android was an improvement over the Blackberry. Around the same time I had the Android, I also bought my first iPad and fell in love with iOS and felt it was much better than the Android OS so I dumped it for an iPhone.

Everyone is going to have their own preference, why not try them all out?

What does a closed environment really mean to you? I hear people say this but I don't think they put much thought into it. I actually think this is a huge benefit of the iPhone.

For day to day business - I am a heavy email user - BB is much easier - I simply find the keyboard easier to use, and for me, more accurate. But I also spend quite a bit of time online as well - and for that purpose, the iphone is better. I spent the last several months using a Droid and quite honestly - dumped the contract and returned to the iphone. I still miss my BB, but am an iphone user for now - the final decision was really that I run a full mac office - ipad - macbook - mac desktop - so syncing everything together was easier with the iphone.

Android is the only way to go.

Full rooting capabilities (on most phones) allows you to undo all of the crappy programs that service providers slow your phone down with.

Active fan/hacking community that creates beautiful ROMs and themes.

Imagine having an iphone that didn't force you to use itunes and could go for three days (easy) without a charge, and looked as slick as it operated.

    That's android.

You can tell which post on here reek of spam lol

We have another Bold now, the new model as my gf's work provides new phones. They have iPhones as well however they ran out before she got hers (seems even professionals prefer the iphone lol) and they only had the new Bolds left.

I stick to my previous statement, BB's are just clunky and out of date to use. I can type waaay faster on my iPhone screen then that crammed key board on the BB. The only "key board" phone I liked was a HTC TyTn 8525 I had 4 years ago as the position of the phone combined with the pad layout made it nice to use. iOS blows BB OS away, BB Apps aren't even remotley close to being on the same plain as Apple or Droid. I can't think of one advantage... it's even slow online browsing vs iPhone.

There's a reason RIM is losing more and more ground, just clunky out of date products. Just not on the level of usability and flexibility/customizing as iOS or Droids. And now you have the new iPhone5 and newer Droids coming out that are taking technology to the next level again, while BB is kinda just stuck floundering around.

Target markets for the iPhone and BlackBerry are starting to overlap as well. The iPhone is a media consumer's dream, playing movies and music with ease. But it's not as finely tuned for the corporate user; large companies have resisted letting employees use iPhones on corporate networks, and information-technology consultant Gartner has advised its corporate clients to avoid the iPhone for now.
Still, analysts speculate that Apple is working on a corporate-friendly version of its e-mail software or that Apple will announce it's working with a third party to handle the job.
Meanwhile, BlackBerrys are taking on more iPhone-like trappings all the time.
The BlackBerry has long been the staple of corporate users who focused mostly on e-mail and calendar features, but Research In Motion has recently been aiming for high-end consumers who might buy the device for play as much as for work.
BlackBerrys now boast cameras that shoot both still and video images. They also play music. Now, Research In Motion is rumored by analysts and gadget blogs to be working on a new device, the BlackBerry 9000, that sports a touch-sensitive screen -- making it look an awful lot like an iPhone. The company declines to comment on future products.....!

I love Android, in fact, I once had the EVO4G. Absolutely loved it. Then, when I moved business in this area, Sprint was no where to be seen, so I went with the iPhone at Verizon. I am not going to get into a favorites war, but I will address some facts. The Android is not a phone, it is as operating system. That being said, the Android OS is on many different phones and developed by different companies. Sigh...the #1 selling phone (from one company only) with it's own chips and it's own operating system (Apple only) is #1. No one with that fashion can compete. I F'd around to much on my EVO4G, it's fun..I got nothing done. Being in a business, that's not a good plan. I'm in business to make money. I don't fool around with my iPhone. Personally, I am more productive on it. Now, let's recap.

The iPhone and the iOS system is boss...period. It doesn't matter who has one, how old you are, etc. The numbers never lie. Again, I must repeat in case you disagree with me so far. "The numbers never lie. The iPhone is boss."

You are right! Numbers don't lie at all...

      so here they are...

      According to Nielson:

ANDROID: 40% Market Share and Rising

      IPHONE: 28% and Dropping

      BlackBerry: 19% and Dropping

      Windows Mobile: 7% & Steady

      Other: 5%

      Windows Phone 7: 1%

So there you have it! Android is WAY ahead of the Pack!

The first smartphone I ever bought was the blackberry storm when it first came out. Initially i was impressed but the novelty soon wore off especially when people started adding me to thier BBM when BB hype started - all their status updates became so annoying! slightly relieved when the phone stopped working properly and the buttons fell off. Having said that i use BB curve for work and have a iphone 4 as my personal phone and have to say I much prefer the iPhone over BB anyday.

I will be investing in my first smart phone when this contract is up next month. I have been looking at the Atrix 2 and the lapdock. It seems to offer more options for mobile marketing. The lapdock solves the problem of typing. 1 Ghz dual core. The camera has 8 MP and video at 1080p. Display size 4.3 in. Memory is expandabe with 32 GB microSD (Which means I can carry more micro SD cards and store more data-especially if taking photos/videos for a potential customer) 8.5 hours talk time with the battery.

      Blackberry Torch only a 3.7 screen. 5MP camera/720p, 6.8 talk time
Iphone comparable to Atrix, but the memory is internal, so you get what you get. and display is only 3.5
So my choice is the Atrix 2 - Android OS Hope it helps!

        I use Android.

        Blackberry is ok for texting..etc.

I find the I-phone navigation to be less user friendly than larger screen Android phones and I am unable to use the I-Phone touchscreen keyboard to type without getting many errors.

Most of the larger screen Androids have large touchscreen keys allowing error free typing and many are also available with slide-out qwerty keyboard.

I use both the iPhone and Blackberry. I must say I like them both for different tasks. Overall, Apple iPhone and Apple products in general our better now and for the future because of long term sustainability.

It is my prediction that blackberry will be brought out very soon because of patents they hold. The BB platform will not be around in five years or even 3 years as fast as the world is moving now.

I think the iPhone is a superior product.

But for those interested in Mobile Marketing in different languages, and those interested in travel and doing business in South America (my case)

    Nothing beats the BlackBerry.

You can get your client's PIN and be in contact with them for free all over the world.

What i do is that i have an unlocked BB, and i have my t-mobile sim card, i have a sim card for Colombia, Venezuela and Peru (where i spend my time).

Whenever i land, i just put the sim in, and re-activate the account with the country's given carrier, and READY TO ROLL.

But if i were to stay in the US definitely the iPhone gets my vote.

I've used a BB, but not an iPhone. My last two phones have been androids and I'm very happy with them. The Galaxy S2 LTE from Samsung is my latest and it's one sweet machine!

I'm not sure this comparision is fair, but the smartphone market share battle reminds me a bit of the Beta vs VHS war. I think there's a parallel here. Android is an OS which has been licensed to everyone and anyone and the other two major players have kept their proprietary. We all know what happend to Beta because Sony kept it proprietary.

We've just updated our iPhone app for GetResponse and added some extra features. You can grab it from the Apple Apps store.

Just a note to those who think Blackberry is dead or dieing!

In developing countries like South Africa (where I live) mobile is massive and Blackberry seized that opportunity to the extend that Apple, Android and Windows are so far behind the eight ball that they will never catch up. With more than 40% of the smart phone market in the bag, Blackberry has reached critical mass. The main reason for this explosive growth is BBM and a cheap basic data bundle. (Iphone has 4% market share)
As an iphone user and advocate I waste my breath in trying to convert blackberry users to Iphone. In fact, the unthinkable is happening here. Iphone owners cross the floor to Blackberry (Remember when betamax owners crossed the floor to VHS even when they knew they had the superior product?)

So which is best is all a matter of perception!

Good point about the market share. One important thing to consider is VHS & Beta are formats. The Smartphone market is not a format, it's a constantly evolving product and service offering that moves at the speed of light. The devices we use three years from now will be vastly different from the devices we extol as technological icons and use today.

Eric Schmidt has talked about this. The Network Infrastructure on the continent is fragile and limited at best. Blackberry knew this and entered the market aggressively with their hosted network to deliver quality and dependable service.

Never discount the other smart phone platforms. I don;t see apple winning in africa but i do see Windows and android mounting an effort in Africa.

Eric Schmidt mentioned a collective humanitarian effort to deliver broadband across africa under the guise of a humanitarian effort. I could see Google and the Gates foundation building infrastructure from the social humanitarian angle. The companies would then go in and be able to compete with blackberry (RIM) in Africa.

I have both devices. By far i prefer my iPhone over the blackberry. The iPhone does pretty much anything well. The blackberry does a few things really well. The blackberry app store does not have the diversity of the apple app store. That said, there is something about the blackberry that I love because it was my first smartphone to have push email.

Research In Motion, the company that created the blackberry and runs the network blackberries operate on had a network outage Back in Q4 2011. The outage was a rolling blackout starting in the middle east and eventually hitting NY. The market made a huge deal out of it and blew it out of proportion. The Headlines were filled with doubt over the executive management of the company. Shares dropped and the company was weakened. The market value, market share, and confidence in executive leadership has been anemic to recover since then. The market sees RIM as dying a slow death of stagnation in it's limited market
As an app developer I am not sinking any effort into the platform.

    Hi there....

    just to share

Yes, it is possible to send autoresponder via Blackberry. You need to install Antair AutoResponder via the BlackBerry Desktop Manager. You just need to confirm your subscription if you have Blackberry Enterprise to enable this...

Though most of us I guess would be using Iphone nowadays over Blackberry (well, it looks better) and the features are really good for marketing purposes..you dont have to be to techy...you know what I mean...

Who says RIM is going out of business??

I love my Blackberry... and I happen to live in the neighboring city to where RIM is located (head office). A friend of mine is high up there... no, RIM is not going out of business. Restructuring a little maybe, but that's not new news.

I've had two Blackberrys - curve and the newest Torch (9810). Took me a bit to get used to the touch screen on the torch, but I do mostly use the pullout keyboard for typing.

I would not switch to the iphone unless I had to - however I am considering getting an iPad, only because some apps I want to run (and show to clients), only run on iphones or ipads and not Blackberries.

That's about the one problem - there aren't enough developers for Blackberry apps.

To me - being a business phone - it drives me a little crazy that all these app creators etc. are out there, stress "for business", but totally ignore the Blackberry users.

In Canada - there are a LOT of Blackberry users. Every time I go into stores, I see more people using the BB vs others, and all of my friends have BB's. I keep trying to rack my brain to think of a friend who uses an iphone, and I haven't yet found one nearby.

My hubby worked for a major hockey retailer (he was on the corp side-IT dept) and his boss got an iphone, and after about a month returned it for a BB.

Most people admit that the BB is best for main business stuff, the iphone is great for "fun". Don't take my word for that, just what people have said to me. (A lot of IT guys I've talked with don't like the iphone either for trying to get it to connect properly with the business side of email etc)

Of course... this thread looks partially older... lol

Most people including myself prefer the iphone over the blackberry. It's just so much more seemless and endless amounts of apps available for every possible task you can think of. I used to own a blackberry, two different models on four consecutive years. After the last one broke, rather than continue with another one, my husband convinced me to switch to the iphone or android. I haven't switch back since abandoning the old blackberry. Apple definitely started something most of us can't get enough of.

Does anybody know why the iPhone cannot send pictures via text message? I can take the picture but cannot send it. I have a 3G. Wondering if I should upgrade to the 4G? But thinking 4G has too many problems too. What do you guys think? Thanks

This would have to do with your mobile carrier or settings, not the phone itself.
