Square Mobile Payment Collection

Hey everybody!

I haven't saw a post on if anyone was using this but I have found it to be an effective way to collect payments on the spot without getting a check if you have a smart phone this is great.

Square is going to be huge.

Back in March 2011 they were processing $1 million in payments per day.

In May 2011 they hit $3 million in one days payments!

The only problem is that it requires a piece of hardware that attaches to an iPhone.

http://www.card.io is another solution but it doesn't require additional hardware.

I expect mobile payments to be a huge part of our lives in the next few years.

I have and use the Square service. It's great for taking payments right on the spot and people are amazed how cool it is.

You can also take payments over the phone without using the little device. You just have to write "Phone Auth" on the signature line when keying in the payment.

I really hope they grow into something bigger and add a reoccuring billing feature.

I tried to use Square. I ordered a reader (twice) that was never delivered. I didn't have a pressing need for it, so I didn't pursue it any further.

Mm I sent for a square card which did come back. Don't yet have an Android (supports 2.1 and up), so have not tried it out, but it seems simple enough. No extra hardware as far a I can see, you download the app for Iphone or Android, - you plug the card directly into your phone (3.5mm Jack) - and start swiping cards.

Thanks so much for the card.io link - looks like a great back up too.

I love using Square. Drop dead simple and easy. Only snag I encountered was the $1,000 weekly limit. This can be adjusted, but it came as a surprise when they held back funds. Once I read about it though it made sense.

There is a different rate for hand keying versus swiping.

Makes it easy to have money arriving in checking account. Another feature you'll love is the fixed fee. No more end of the month nightmares and wading through credit card processor statements. No surprises.

I use the swipe device and also hand key the transactions.

Looks like a winner. Easy way to accept payment. But perhaps more importantly it'll give you another WOW! factor for client acquisition, especially if you're in offline marketing.

Hey, yeah...my first experience with it was just last week at a RoofTop party and had to pay for dome door prize tickets (I won by-the-way) and said "Do you take Debit?", thinking it would have to be a joke, but to my surprise, she said, "Yes"...Wow I signed my name right on her phone! I then got a text and saw it in my bank site...You probably know all this, but Hey...It was pretty cool to me. ;0)
