Question About Stand-Alone Mobile Sites

Most of the info I have gleaned to date about creating mobile sites are geared to creating a mobile version of an existing site.

Do you think there is a market for creating just a mobile site for clients? (Without them having to have a redirect from their existing site to the mobile version of their site, that is.)

If so, how would that work using some of the scripts, templates and emulators being offered and discussed on other threads within this forum?

Are you talking about clients who do not have a regular website at all?

If that's the case you could create them a mobile site and host it on any domain - there's nothing tricky. You would set it up the exact same way however obviously they won't have a standard site so no need for a redirect script.

If you are planning to earn money from your mobile website

Signup for the adsense account, and create ads for your mobile content

add in ur htaccess file to automatically tranfer mobile users to your mobile content and others to main site

Hassan: Thanks for your input. However, there is no main site to redirect to.

if there is no main site - you can just do a standalone mobile site for them but i don't see why you would not want to create both for them...

you could always use a fluid width design but unless you know your way around css i tend to think these don't look to good...

hope that helps

Yes I do think their is a market for just stand alone mobile websites, because of all the millions of smartphone users. Get into mobile my friend.

If you are pitching a client for a mobile site who doesnt have a regular site then I would definitley take the oppotunity to upsell one to them, it makes much more sense to have both.

With that said they could have a stand alone mobile site for pro-active mobile marketing campaigns even if they havent got a regular site.
