SMS Questions

I have started looking into to SMS for my daily deal website.
I am uncertain of the sms market. I have actually read that it is very over saturated.

If I do do it........

Am I better off buying wholesale and running my own service with my marketing company?

Or using an existing service?
-if so which one?

If I understand your question correctly, you already have a daily deal site and you want to amp it up a bit by incorporating and building an SMS list to send your deals to, correct?

If that's the case, all you need is a single advertiser account to use to build your list.

If you are talking about re-selling SMS services to your clients and helping them to build their own list, you can either use a single advertiser account and manage the service for your client. Or, you can white label a platform which will allow you to give each of your clients their own login information and manage their own accounts.

Is SMS more Customer oriented?

Is that a good way to do business?

We like to know what we are doing before doing it as as a company to make news turns cost us money and doesn't allow us to adopt any sound strategy.

Business is all about metrics,

That's a problem in this industry right now, everybody has no metrics and there is no real metrics around.

I own a daily deal website.....and yes I would like to offer text features to my customers.

But, I also own a marketing company....so I would love to offer sms services to my clients.

I think SMS advertising is a great idea, it lets the customer respond in their own time and avoids the inconvenience of a phone call during a busy time. It is personal however as they can receive it where ever they are and easily refer back to it later. From a marketing perspective, I have a lot of good reviews about sms advertising. All the best!

Anyone in the UK offering these services? I've only just looked into it this morning and seen txtlocal (no affiliation). Need to look round more, but if anyone in the UK does SMS campaigns for their clients do you have any recomendations to use?

I like Chad Plugin. It's simple and easy to use with a plain wp blog. For small businesses it's a workable option. I actually like the initial release and have chosen to not upgrade. I use it in conjunction with my own software and it works like a charm.

I think you meant to say "like Email" But you should also remember that email is not illegal nor does it violate CAN SPAM as long as you are connecting with those who have subscribed to your list and there are unsubscribe options available. The statement that you need to use a short code is a bit misleading. Whichever program you use needs to follow the CAN SPAM set of rules to be safe. Unsolicited email or Unsolicited text messaging is the problem not the delivery method when it comes to CAN SPAM. Follow AWeber's business model and you are OK.

No it's not frowned upon. What I think is happening is that a lot of people want a cheap solution. Like a $17 this is the hot stuff type of thing. If it works for them, then it works for them. You always get what you pay for.

Hey Guys/Gals, I was searching around and comparing dozens of different SMS services, and I ran across this one that looks like the best deal I've found so far Mobile Autoresponder - #1 Web to Text and Short Code SMS Autoresponder so was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with them?

The market for sms advertising is growing exponentially, I think it's becoming a commonplace method. It's great as people are so on the move these days and love easy accessibility and quick responses. However I think it is important for people to be able to opt out of the service easily such as by texting stop to no longer receive the sms's and for the business not to go overboard with the amount of sms's sent.

Yeah, I have looked at them but it seems you have to build an app to integrate it into ,and I want something that I can just run with.

My suggestion is that you start with an outsourced partner or vendor, and see if they can achieve the goals you have set for this project. But be sure to learn how things work and what are the challenges along the way. When the time comes that you are more confident in doing it internally, then implement it with the right and competent professional.

	I think Lime Cellular is the best white label SMS marketing platform.
