UK Pricing for mobile sites
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

Hi guys,

Was after your thoughts. There are a couple of threads here regarding mobile pricing and willr has a great thread on the subject.

I have been approached by an seo company for a costing as they want to offer mobile sites. Now the potential for me is to get some business from them as they will offer it to all their present clients and new but where do I pitch the price knowing that they will want to add on top?

I was thinking £150 as a starting price. They have already commented "Obviously you need to look at their main site first before giving a price" so that's a help.

My friend uses them for his own seo and pays them £125 per month and I know they normally charge£175 per month for this so I don't think they would be surprised at a reasonable price. I'm even thinking that £150 is cheap!

Would you give the option of hosting to with a different price?

Any ideas appreciated.

Cheers

Vince

I price mine at £97, the reason for this is that after research I found many mobile site offers in the USA to be offering them on average for $197 which in uk is around £120 so I thought I would price mine just slightly below.

Hi Vince

It's always difficult to price on this kind of basis but as I've commented previously on other threads I think too many are under valuing mobile web design.

In my opinion there isnt a 'one price fits all' in terms of offering a fixed costing as it all depends on the functions required by the client.

My pricing starts at £165 for a click-to-call mobile marketing landing page with a 'thank you' page and links to the main mobile site (if they have one) and a link to the desktop version, obviousely I include setting up the mobile switcher on their main site.

I havent found any resistance to this pricing policy and for larger sites I charge £699 for 10 basic pages and discount the per page price after that.

Hope this helps

The MAIN thing to consider when charging for anything...including Mobile Sites is....WHY? WHY? Should a biz pay YOU ....whatever YOU are asking?

Well....I found a "REASON" why....local biz WILL pay $150/mo and more!

My "REASON" is....they will be the ONLY "Mexican" (Chinese, Italian, Deli, Greek...etc...restaurant...or Dentist, Chiropractor, Medical Clinic, Roofer, Plumber....ETC...ETC)....in my "TOWN MOBILE SITE DIRECTORY"!

With ALL my promo programs I KNOW that....offering "Exclusives" is a way to PUSH biz owners to WANT to....Join...whatever program I am offering!

I learned looong ago....the difference between providing Business Owners with something they ...."Need"....to something they ...."WANT"!

EX: A "Vehicle" to get around town;
EVERYONE in America...NEEDS some way to "go get Food" (most don't want to Pay to have their Food delivered)...or ....go to Work....or meetings...or visit friends...etc.

Options;
Have someone with a vehicle....drive you
Walk
Ride a Bike or Motorcycle
Drive a 1962 "Bug" they can pick up for $200 at a local Used Car Lot
Drive any "Used" vehicle
Drive a "New Vehicle"
Drive a "Maseratti"

There IS a difference here....in "Needing" a way to go get food....as compared to "Wanting" a Maseratti'...to go get it!

So....the same with our Modern Method of letting potential consumers KNOW....about....OUR business.

Pay to Create a Website....Pay for SEO so your website is Top-Ranked!

Which is all well and good...however....we are NOW in the "Mobile-Phone" Age!

Ask yourself this question; DO....the businesses that have Paid to have a Regular Website....WANT....to have their website.... SEEN.... on Mobile Phones?

Or....do they NEED....to have their websites....SEEN...on Mobile Phones?

It doesn't really matter! ...with the "Need" question....Yet!

BUT....when I ask a biz owner....IF he WANTS a "Mobile Website" that will be seen on a "Mobile Site TOWN Directory"...as the ONLY biz in HIS Category.....can you see the difference?

It's called...."Sales Psychology" 101

Anyway....I hope I've helped someone her see the difference between "Need" and "Want".

I am pricing at £99..... and struggling!
I even did a mock up last week and offered it for half price and got the response 'Sorry mate, its too expensive for something that may be useless'
Some people are unreal, but I suppose I have to try and do a better job of selling if I am to get any clients.

Re: UK Pricing for mobile sites

Sorry....just offering, "Hey Biz Owner...here's something I concocted fer ya! If ya want in...it's cost ya X$!"

Holy Schamoly! NO WAY does what you (and LOTS of others) are doing to "try and Sell"...whatever you're selling....produce Sales!

That's why...."guys like ME" are ALWAYS able to just "walk into" any.... "Market" area ....or ANY "New Biz" idea.....and ...walk away with MONEY!

For 2 Reasons; WE know how to make prospects HUNGRY! And WANT...whatever it is WE are selling!

My goodness, Man....GIVE PROSPECTS A "REASON" to WANT...what you are offering!

Reminds me of my FIRST Ad Program. After a divorce, I was in Colorado in a small town (Glenwood Springs, pop 7,000) I did NOT want to "Look for a JOB" so...and I saw a "Placemat" in a restaurant (in the BIG Town of Grand Junction, CO pop, 50 mi away (at the time was 50,000)

I looked at the placemat in front of me and thought, "Hey! What if I produced a Placemat, like this in restaurants in MY Town?"

So...I grabbed a few mats and went home and made up a Sample Mat for a restaurant in my Town....went to a restaurant and go their permission to accept MY Placemats. Then....went to local businesses the restaurant owner had suggested I call on (I told him I'd RATHER put your Regular Diners on these ....instead of "strangers")

So....when I went to these local "Recommended Business Owners" I did NOT....plunk down my Sample Mat in front of him and say; "Hey Joe! I'm makin' up 10,000 o dese here placemats. You kin have a spot fer $190! Ya want in?"

Excuse my "Pigeon-Inglish" but....that sounds like what you (and most other "salespeople")...sound like when you try to "Sell" whatever you are selling!

My goodness man! Do a little thinking as to WHY what you are selling will BENEFIT your prospects! WHY....whatever you're selling will BRING HIM MORE BUSINESS!....and....GIVE HIM A REASON FOR JOINING...RIGHT NOW! NOT tomorrow (Hey! Thanks for showin' me dis! Giv me yer Card and I'll "run it by my Guru"! (Wife, Partner, etc) an I'll git back to ya!)

Again....when "I" go in to present...whatever I'm trying to sell....I....in MOST cases....walk out with DOLLARS!

Not to brag BUT....I PAID MY DUES! I LEARNED....How Get Prospects to "Give Me their OK"!

I'm sorry BUT...responses like this;
'Sorry mate, its too expensive for something that may be useless'

Tells me INSTANTLY....you did NOT...."Tweak His Twitter"!

You did NOT...."Make him HUNGRY" for what you're offering! You did NOT show him HOW your program can BRING HIM MORE BUSINESS! You did NOT...give him a REASON WHY he would WANT to be IN your program!

So....ALL is not lost and I appreciate your presenting this. When you know that....."Guys Like ME" can go to similar prospects and....GET SALES!...it means that....there is HOPE...for YOU! Just takes a little more "Studying, Research, Tries...etc" and ....THEN....when you HIT IT! You realize...."Hey! THIS is GREAT!"

So....my point is to NOT be discouraged! If others can walk into the same prospects and walk out with Orders....YOU CAN TOO!

Don't give up! It's WELL WORTH the effort!

Hey Steve

Don is making some very good points here bud...everything on the planet is 'sold' one way or another and no matter how good a product or service is it needs to be sold to the end user.

I could easily sell my mobile sites for the same money or higher even if they were less professional in terms of design and functionality because I focus on creating the 'need' first and then provide the 'solution' after 'price condtioning the client...just mobilising a site isnt enough but show them how it can get more sales, fill more seats build instant offer communication to their customer base and bingo they'll be snatching you're arm off.

Seriously it works but you still dont want to be giving it mate...

am currently starting negotiation at 299 quid then discounting from there

the whole point is to sell the benefit in terms of leads - do you want more leads or not?

it is also a great door opener for other services

go for small businesses with less than 10 staff really

Neil....above....hit on Something...although he sort of "skimmed over" it.

What Restaurant Owners WANT to hear is;
"just mobilising a site isnt enough but show them how it can get more sales, fill more seats"

What they REALLY...WANT to hear are the words;

"I CAN FILL YOUR SEATS!"

So....you provide restaurant owners with a WAY to do that and...you will NEVER hear....'Sorry mate, its too expensive for something that may be useless'

My goodness! When I...walk into a nice restaurant and show the owner the "Display" I am putting on the Front Desk of local motels....that provides TRAVELERS with a QR Code that can be Scanned with the Phone they are carrying....and....on the Screen of their Mobile Device comes a Listing of "Places To Eat"....with HIS restaurant being the ONLY entry for HIS Cuisine....you kidding me?

The guy is gonna "pee his pants"....WANTING to get IN on this...BEFORE his competitor's!

When I show a program I NEVER get;
'Sorry mate, its too expensive for something that may be useless'

I ...."suck them into my "Funnel" such that....they will not only give me an Order for my program...they will also give me...."THEIR NEXT 2 GRAND-KIDS"!

Appreciate all the words on this guys and it is all being taken on board.
I have got to say though that I am new to selling and have alot to learn, but learn I will.
The product is there and is an excellent one, but as you say, they need a reason to buy and that is what i am not getting through properly.
I WILL get there! :-)
Cheers

always available for advice on sales anytime you wanna chat

sorry for giving a very short answer before I was under pressure for time. My partner is even better at re-framing the sales process and we offer only very basic mobile websites at that starting price.

If they want all manner of fancy add ons we charge more!

I repeat "sell the benefit" and that is more sales or rather getting the sales you should be getting from your website but are losing because the viewer cant see the info

make your customers understand that and they will buy

I would say £99 is way too cheap. We do £299 as a start. We offer discount for Video Testimonials and referrals. £129 is our minimum.

Best of luck

Come on guys and girls value what you know value what you do, or reconsider being in this business.

Minimum £347 + VAT for a 5 pager and thats still cheap cos I have multiple backend upsells and monthly development subscriptions

Hey midasman09

Youre right!

Everything is SOLD in the world!

I never sell a MOBILE SITE conversion for less than $600. and a new one with logo no less than $1200.

my sales team have a rent to pay.

At ELOOKMEDIA we never undersell anything!

Dont sell them a SITE sell them the BENEFITS!

Nobody want a site mobile or not! But they want the clients and the cash in their pockets!

Show them that if 23% of the traffic is coming from a mobile, not having one is like closing down your shop for a day a week.

Can they afford it?

And im not counting the damages to their brand!

hope it help

We're actually redesigning a Manual for our sales associates right now since the mobile changed everything!

A Town Mobile Site is a good idea but having a directory with just one business in a certain section isnt much of a directory is it?
What if other businesses want in?

I Got 1 site done from odesk the other day for one of my friend who sell on Ebay. We had a good deal after negotiation, for only $190 we have a nice looking and fully functional website. Trying odesk have always given me good pricing and mostly quality

£99 is very cheap. As I read this thread there is 1 thing that I gather and people are pricing themselves and their business way too low. Some of you will have to sell 3 or 4 sites to match what others are charging for 1.

This service is a value-added one and you deserve to get paid for it!
