Does Admob work? - PPC Mobile Marketing for Local Business
Share on:

Has anyone had any long term success providing PPC mobile marketing services for local businesses?

I've tried several times to use Admob for local businesses, without any success.

Here's what I've done. I set up a mobile optimized landing page that gives details about the local business and what they offer, with a strong call to action (phone call).

The display ads I'm running are not blind ads. They specifically tell the viewer what the business is and to click for more details.

The problem I'm having is that with Admob I get plenty of clicks but get NO phone calls to the local businesses, which I find hard to believe based on how the campaign is set up.

For example, I'm getting 60 clicks a day for a local realtor and NO phone calls. Why would people who are interested in a realtor and looking to sell or buy a home click on the ad and then not call, not even one call?

Plus, my daily budget ($10) is used up by 6am in the morning. Maybe I'm missing something but that doesn't sound good either.

If anyone has an experience they can share related to PPC mobile marketing for local businesses it would be greatly appreciated.

I have never heard anybody having success in admob. I have however heard more stories of how people have burnt their fingers by blowing money over there. The problem with admob or any other mobile ad networks is low buying intent of the user to whom the ad is shown - imagine seeing an ad while looking for an app from app store or browsing for some content. You may or may not be interested in the offering shown in the ad in that particular time. Whereas in search engines when people of search for something they really want it - a doctor or a dentist or home addition contractor etc., So the buying intent of users are very strong in search engines than in content networks where mobile ad networks advertise. Having said that content networks are good for branding advertisement rather than direct response types.

If anybody has any success in admob then they can post their experience and mention what different they did to make it work.

Yes I definitely agree that the buying intent is not near the same as on a search network.

I'm trying to think why people who are using an app or whatever, would click on a banner ad for a local realtor if they had no interest at all. Yes, some would click just because, but for all clicks to be of this low caliber makes no sense to me.

It very disappointing.

Does anyone have any experience in PPC mobile marketing for local businesses?

It IS working for local businesses. The best way to use mobile for these companies is to go for a "click to call" solution and let the sales team close the deal. You have to target very well so you don't get lots of clicks/calls from LA when your business is in NYC....
Hope this helps!

Are you personally doing this for local businesses? If so can you tell me what network you're using to get clicks?

Yes, it's important to make sure you have the correct target area selected.

Yes can you please get me posted on this aswel?

I do believe you can have a very good change of success if you offer to use ad mob and such to make a commercial effort for local businesses to put there deal/offer infront of an potential costumers face like a extra traffic resource. But immidiatly conversion...? Like a PPC CPA offer? I dont believe in that when it comes to Mobile Marketing. So does the "The best way to use mobile for these companies is to go for a "click to call"" <--methode really work?

I got burned on mobile PPC with Google. I set up pay per call and had a tracking number on it and Google would show 8-10 clicks/calls and my number would register 1/2 calls. Now I am sure some people accidently hit the number, but my numbers worked out to be 25-30% actually were calls.

With a lot of mobile users searching localized, consider the "tagging" feature that is available on most map directories. IE Trying to get to the top of the generic search or be a standout in the results.

Would like others said opt for the CPA vs. ppc sure the cost per lead is higher but there is more of a qualifying contact other networks such as offermobi.com and neverblue.com have worked. And via google they too have a action on ad ad model too.
