Sample Mobile Web Contracts.

Hello Warriors,

Since I am very new to offline marketing, I have been trying to come up with a good contract to use when i go to meet a customer to do their mobile web. Can anyone share some example of contracts?

Thank you

Yes, great info. However, I do suggest that people always customize each contract to each specific project. I don't use contracts, even the one my lawyer made, with design clients. I literally list out in a simple to understand "this and that." Matter of fact, I do monthly marketing services, and I have not used any contract what so ever, except a simple, "I am providing you a monthly service and I request 60 days cancellation notice. However, we are both ethical and agreeable businesses, so if there is an issue that arises that needs attention, please contact me and let's make it a win-win situation." That's pretty much what I use with all my cleitns, plus a little more about expectations, etc. It's all very organic, and I'm happy to say that in 6 years, I've never had legal troubles, and only maybe 5 clients i can think of in those years, down right screwed me out of money. But, I was glad to be rid of all 5 and it was in the beginning when i was taking on clients that were abusive because i was desperate for money. ALL of my clients have told me they appreciate simple and clear terms, and that my "contracts" make them feel like trusted partners and not children. So, my advice is go for simple and clear. Really, it's about spelling out expectations on both end. Even if you write a 10 page contract, keep it simple and clear language. Most small business owners get nervous over legalese, and the smart ones will hire a lawyer over a dense contact, and the smarter ones will just look for someone who isn't just trying to look like a big agency, when they're not. Sure, protect yourself, but in a simplistic manner.

My opinions. Thanks for the thread.

Be well,

Lane

What about sales letters, web or print based. Would you advise hiring a copywriter for that?

I would keep away from using the word contract as it can scare a lot of businesses off.

We provide a quote to our customers so they understand what each of us is doing and then issue an invoice.

We only use a contract if the work is over $5,000 and there is an ongoing fee involved.

I totally agree. The moment you say "contract" the other side thinks they need a lawyer or attorney to review the contract. For small jobs like building web sites, I use the word "agreement" - and I tell my customers/clients I just need the agreement to justify charging a credit card, to take care of hosting requirements, etc. And I always let them cancel within 30 days, too. It's just an agreement - and never a contract!

Hello UniversalExcuses,
We use a one page agreement that simply states the terms and indicates its a month to month and breaks out the services to be provided. When making the presentation we offer to build a demo mobile friendly website at no charge for them to compare what their current website looks like versus their mobile friendly website. We also show a breakdown on our website for each of our plans and what they can expect in regards to set-up fees, ongoing monthly fees and usually that solves the issue about CONTRACTS....which we agree with the others that say convert the word to AGREEMENT... Good Luck, UncleChucke

I have used the PDF document on this page and it covers most of the important points on a web design contract.
