Hey I was just thinking, would I be able to give out existing coupons that are already available on the net, for example in Google's Places. Because I was thinking of starting a local SMS campaign, and capture leads without setting up meetings and agreements companies to get their coupons, as majority of them can be found on the net. Then later on, I would approach companies and offer them a service with a big list. So regular coupons. Thanks. |

Interesting concept. Hugh |

Interesting idea... But here's the problem I see with it. How are you going to get opt-ins to your list? If you were to go to the local business first, explain what you are doing and have them put up a flyer or promote it to their customers, then it would build your list and establish a relationship with the business. It's much easier to go into a business and pitch them on putting up a flyer or table tents or business cards in exchange for a free text blast to "test the idea" in a few weeks after the flyers were put up. Then the business owner then has already made a commitment, once you send the blast out they will have proof it works and will be very willing to pay you to send future blasts out to your large list. What business owner wouldn't want to be able to "Order up a busy day"? |

I agree with Pete - and there is another small problem with your plan. If you use their coupon you will be driving traffic to their business. . . They will think they are doing great and won't see any need for your service. Why should they pay you when sales/profits are up? Working with the business, even if they don't end up being your client, is a better plan. Good luck, Jim |
