If you already have one or not, which one would you rather have? Most of the objective polls are about even with preferences, but places that are slanted to one side or the other often favor that side. I'm just wondering about the good folks on the Warrior Forum. Personally, I still have an unlocked iPhone 3G, and am just about to be out of my contract with T-Mobile. I was able to get a really, really cheap Android LG Optimus to try out (I know it's not anywhere near as nice as something like the Samsung Galaxy S II), but I still think I prefer the iPhone. I will probably be switching to Verizon to get the iPhone 4S. |

Really in the end it is what your happiest with using. So many people get iPhones because of perceived value however these days Android provides some great alternative services. Having used both iPhone 4 and Galaxy 2 there is very little difference in performance. If you are a mac person then obviously the ability to link everything is great and that is its main advantage. I personally just like the android system from a business point of view as I hate having a company putting so many controls on me that apple does. So I am leaning more towards Android these days. Q |

Funny you say that, because there are some things about Android that I totally love - like the GPS app as a part of the stock setup, the functionality of some of the things like email, and being able to do a little more than you can on an iPhone. Plus, Android is constantly pushing the envelope, and releasing meaningful updates and new features. I guess for me personally, is it's sort of like when you compare all kinds of cars to a Cadillac. It's fine to say that a Toyota is as good as a Cadillac, but if what you really want is a Cadillac, you won't really be happy with a Toyota. I just need to use some of the newer Droids before I make my final decision, and see if I want the 4S for myself, or if an Android would fit my needs. The last thing I want to be doing is regretting getting one over the other.

I had a choice between getting an iPhone or an Android phone. I ended up with an Android phone for a few reasons. The one I chose was the HTC Thunderbolt. The reasons for me to not get the iPhone. 1. Screen size was too small. 2. I hate iTunes 3. Not very customizable. 4. Must pay for most apps. The reasons for me to get the iPhone. 1. Screen is very crisp and bright 2. iPhone has good reputation for not crashing or any problems. 3. Lots of cool aps not found on Android 4. Most accessories (boom boxes, cases, even automobiles) are for iPhone The reasons for me not to get the Android 1. At the time, Android was still fairly new and untested 2. Android is more open source so less quality control for aps 3. At the time, Android wasn't the status symbol that iPhone is The reasons for me to get the Android. 1. Screen size on the HTC was huge and easy to type on and see 2. Android is very customizable with aps and widgets 3. Android has voice recognition for anything. Great for texting in the car. 4. GPS and navigation is built in 5. Lots of aps and many are free 6. Google is a huge company and is very innovative....much like Apple. 7. With the HTC Thunderbolt, I was able to use 4G LTE and I'm also grandfathered in for unlimited data (for both hotspot and normal use)...where others must pay extra past 2 gigs of data. But I think two of the main reasons I went Android was because of the large screen size and voice recognition. I just love talking to it when texting and searching instead of having to type in everything. However, if the iPhone screen was bigger, though, I may have went that route. Mike |

Having been on a Blackberry for the past 19 months, I can tell you - don't get one. I'm leaning towards the Android myself, because of the screen size and association with Google. I am a PC user, so I don't need to synch Apple to Apple. |

I used to have a Samsung Galaxy S(hit), which was also my first smartphone. After a week it started bugging, and I've had trouble with it ever since. It was slow, duplicated my contacts etc. and i consider myself to be a real techy. (Which was why I didn't get an iphone in the first place. I love google, as well as felt an iphone would be too mainstream and simple for a techie like me) Anyways, it got stolen after a year, and I got an iphone 4. I'm extremely satisfied, and will probably never go back.(Unless Apple starts to be less innovative without Steve Jobs) |

I have an iPhone and it's my preference mainly because I've been an Apple user since the late 80s. I guess I have some kind of loyalty for some reason.

Android all the way. I don't like that an iTunes account controls everything for the iPhone. Well, I guess you do use your Google account for contacts, etc with Android, but all the apps, etc don't run through that account. I'm not necessarily against Apple or the iPhone honestly. My wife has an iPhone and I like the two cameras (front/back), the better screen resolution, and some cool apps that are iPhone only. On the other hand, if you haven't seen the Droid Bionic, it totally rivals the iPhone in screen resolution/crispness. It looks freaking amazing. And the screen size is bigger (very good). Plus the freedom that Android offers - not being tied to one company, Apple - is what I like. Just by $0.02. |
Doubt everything you believe.

If email is the only thing you are concerned about then I would still recommend using a Blackberry. For me they are much easier for email than any of the other smart phones I've tried. I much prefer having a physical keyboard and I just prefer the simplicity of their email interface. Obviously if you are someone who wants more out of their phone then a Blackberry is probably not going to be the best phone for you. They were never designed to be the type of phone an iPhone is. Although they are trying to catch up they will never match the features of an iPhone - but a lot of Blackberry users don't want those features and are fine with a nice simple phone that does the job it is supposed to do.

I will re-state that I'm leaning towards an Android for personal use, but still slightly interested in an iPad for presentations... which would strongly suggest I use an iphone for the synch capabilities. I'm not super interested in the Blackberry Tablet to synch with my Blackberry. I guess the jury is still out in my case. (thinking android though)

To be honest with you though one of the things I actually like about the Blackberry I have (Bold 9700) is that I can surf the Internet if I REALLY want to but because of the screen size, etc, I would only ever do it if I was looking for some information I desperately needed. This means I don't play around on my phone as much as most smart phone users probably do which is great because if I'm away from the computer I like to be away from the computer. I don't want to be tempted to sit their mindlessly surfing the net or playing games.

Apple tends to value their exclusivity that it won't 'mingle' with other apps and software. (I'm still scratching my head on why Iphones won't allow Flash Adobe.)

I'm a Droid user because of the open source for apps. The only thing i hate is you can get rid of factory installed apps i never use like Amazon mp3(I have an app for free mp3's i can turn in to ringtones). You can Root your phone just like Jailbreaking an Iphone then you can get rid of the factory apps just haven't tried yet. Has anyone rooted their phone? I'm to cheap to use Apple, I have an Ipod Touch and have downloaded songs on my Droid then put them on my Ipod for free can't do that with an Iphone can ya? Also as an app developer what would you rather have a one time sale at $2 or run ads that pay you again and again? How many ads can you show someone playing Angry birds for an Hour?

Having owned multiple Android Phones: the G1, Acer Liquid, and The Aria, before finally trying the iPhone 3Gs, I have to say that the iPhone is my favorite by far. I feel like there are more business oriented apps available and at a cheaper price. None of them have a good battery life, but it seems like tghe iPhone has a longer stand-by time as well as a faster recharge time.

What it comes down to is, with Apple, iOS is just polished and just.. works. Though iOS 5 has had some annoying quirks/glitches that I hope they patch. With that said, stock iOS is boring. I always jailbreak to have the full customization of pretty much anything I want. Like for example... with Apple they only allow you to make a folder and put 12 items in it, if you have a bunch of games or business apps you'll have to keep making folders and they also don't let you put folders in a folder. However if you jailbreak you can make say, a game folder and put all your games into that folder and even organize into other folders like action, shooting, puzzles etc. Vice versa for business apps. You can customize the hell out of iOS, but you have to be jailbroken. Android is customizable right out of the box, and it's gotten a lot better, especially with the new ice cream OS coming out. But the thing holding Android back, and it's a fault with being open source, you have tons and tons of phones and app's and it's like a fractured system b/c with the phones being all different regardless of the OS they can't makes app's that work 100% across the board for everyone. You can have app X work great on one phone, and then not work on others or be glitchy/crappy etc. The other thing is there are a lot of app's in android market, that just don't work as well as their counterparts in Apples App Store. In the past I would have said Apple w/o a doubt, Android wasn't even remotely close, it just wasn't a smooth OS. However, now they've made excellent improvements and it's pretty much right there with iOS for "smooth operation." I may grab an Samsung Galaxy 2 as I didn't upgrade to the 4S b/c there's no jailbreak for it yet and no info as to when it could be released, so it could be next week... or it could be months from now. |

I won't be able to fairly answer the question until I see some reviews of the Galaxy Nexus. The iPhone 4S has more than adequate functionality and aesthetics and I'll definitely always be jealous of iPhone owners, but at the end of the day I'm all about the specs.

I am now for Android. I got a Samsung Galaxy Sii, and it is amazing. I came over from an iPhone 3G, and was on the fence about them both. The iPhone is pretty much the standard in smartphones, but for me, going head to head with the Samsung Galaxy Sii was the deciding factor. The things I like more about the Galaxy (and Android) are: - significantly larger screen - much thinner - much lighter - screen - it just POPS on the Android - functionality and customization you can do on Android I thought I'd be disappointed by not having Siri, but I found that the Galaxy has some pretty beefed up voice recognition programs. I can't ask something like "is the iPhone better than the Droid", but I can say "text my wife I love you and will be home at 6:00", and it does it. I can also say "navigate to Papa John's", and it will open up the native GPS app and get me there. I can say "add note to calendar" and it does it. I'm mucho for the Android. A guy I work with was using Siri today. I showed him my Android, and he was PISSED. He liked mine a LOT better. |

I love, love, love my iphone. The feature I would love to have is an actual keyboard in conjunction with the touch screen (I know weird) For me as a mac owner it's great to synchronize with the mobile me, apps and the calendars with my online booking system. Yet, I'm very seriously considering getting a super TINY phone and just using an ipad instead, seems like ipads are the same as the iphone without the calling features. But with Google Voice is it? Hope it's not to off topic. |

I used an iPhone 3G and I am currently using a Samsung Captivate that runs on Android Gingerbread. I really like both the iPhone and the Android. I can make my Captivate run a lot faster than an iPhone because I overclock the phone. I also like the fact there are tons of custom ROMs and kernels for the Android. I am due for an upgrade in 15 days so I will be getting the iPhone 4S for a few reasons. The Android browser and other browsers like Dolphin and Opera Mini aren't very good. There have been tons of times when I touch the screen and the browsers move a bit and make the wrong selection. Another thing is that the iPhone has way better apps than the Android. Last major issue with my Captivate is the battery life. The battery life is horrible compared to the iPhone. I know that the iPhone 4S has been having battery life issues but Apple will iron them out. I will get the 4S and wait for another two years to see how far Android has come and will maybe consider switching back. Until then I have to go with an iPhone. |

I have a film that protects the screen - you can't even tell it's there but it supposedly helps keep the screen from getting scratched. And I have a nice case that I got on amazon for about six bucks. Pretty protective, not as bulky as something like an otterbox, but I definitely feel like it's keeping the phone covered without adding bulk or weight.

My wife has an android and I have seen Iphone users. I say Android because android is like the pc version of windows, it is universal. Iphone in my opinion is on the downer. Samsung galaxy has now taken over Iphone in amount of sales. Android has many more apps now. With Iphone your stuck with apple products, With Android you can get many other brand phones

wow I am happy to see that more ppl would choose android before iphone I personally use android devices(HTC evo and an asus transformer tablet) and I am very satisfied with them. I had an iphone for a while but it is definitely nothing special compared to the other competing android devices like the htc or samsungs galaxy and such. |

Battery goes with video use. Fast. However it lasts all day and night if you give it a break once in awhile. I have charged full one day when new, then once a day... if used all day. Power off at night, full battery in morning without a charge. I'm happy with the battery life with this being a SMART phone. |

I posted this in the IPhone or Blackberry group, thought it might help those looking here as well. Cost was a factor and like someone said in here already, The IPhone is more a status symbol when comparing what both do, The Android appears to do everything an Iphone can do but Android can also do Flash. So I guess it boils down to what you are looking to do with your phone. In the Mobile Marketing arena, I intend to use it for pictures/videos too, so the camera on the phone is an important choice in choosing the phone for me. Because multimedia can be so draining, battery life is also important. I like the Atrix because of the lapdock, it will give me access to the internet anywhere I have service, so being able to bring up a 10.1" screen on the fly for a customer is another important feature. Let alone if I need to send out a long email or message, the bigger keyboard will make it easier. Anyway the post is below and there are links to check out reviews of the blackberry and Atrix 2, The Iphone on ATT didn't have reviews yet. I will be investing in my first smart phone when this contract is up next month. I have been looking at the Atrix 2 and the lapdock. It seems to offer more options for mobile marketing. The lapdock solves the problem of typing. 1 Ghz dual core. The camera has 8 MP and video at 1080p. Display size 4.3 in. Memory is expandabe with 32 GB microSD (Which means I can carry more micro SD cards and store more data-especially if taking photos/videos for a potential customer) 8.5 hours talk time with the battery. Blackberry Torch only a 3.7 screen. 5MP camera/720p, 6.8 talk time Iphone comparable to Atrix, but the memory is internal, so you get what you get. and display is only 3.5 So my choice is the Atrix 2 - Android OS Hope it helps! Suzanne Below you will see that comparison, they pretty much have the same things so you will have to compare specific items. such as camera Apple iPhone 4S - 32 GB | BlackBerry® Torch (TM) 9860 |MOTOROLA ATRIX (TM) 2 Overall Rating N/A Included Features BLUETOOTH® all have Camera all have GSM/GPRS all have International all have IPhone is quad band 3G all are also 4G Capabilities Text Messaging Video Messaging Wireless Email Specifications Size: inches4.5 x 2.31 x 0.37 inches 4.72 x 2.44 x 0.45 Inches 4.96 x 2.59 x 0.40 Inches Weight: ounces 5.0 5.0 5.0 Digital Talk Time 8 hrs 7 hrs 8 hrs Digital Stand By 200 hrs 334 hrs 382 hrs |
