Anybody use anything special to track QR codes, I see there are a few companies out there that provide a service for this but there must be some other way to provide this service as maybe a upsell without using a third party...

One way is you could go to the Google URL shortener, http://goo.gl/, and create a shortened url for your website. After it's created, you can click the "details" link and it'll provide you with a QR code associated with the shortened link, so whenever someone scans the QR code, it'll be tracked on that page.
