Mobile sites are built in exactly the same way as normal webistes, just in smaller dimensions. If you can create a normal website in Dreamweaver, you can create one for mobile using DW also. I believe Microsoft have a HTML editor program that's free to download.

Similarly, you could use a blogging platform to create your site such as Wordpress, Drupal or Joomla. However you need to be well versed in customising the templates.

If you're looking for an already implemented "template" for mobile websites, Quentin and WillR from this forum have some great options available to purchase. You can then put these templates into Dreamweaver or any other HTML editor and edit it to your liking.

Seriously though, you need to use the search function this forum provides, or do a Google search for "mobile website templates". You'll find loads out there. Stop being lazy and waiting for people to bring the answers to you. Which I effectively just have done.

As above, if you do a search on the forum there are some great templates and packages that help you build your own sites.

You should pick up a few of them and have a play with them to see which ones work best for you and then you can move forward.

JToneyUK pretty much summed it up. If you know how to design and code websites, building a mobile website is no different.

Personally, I'm a fan of Dreamweaver for the fact that it has several ways to preview your site in the dimensions that you set for it. That way, I can see what it would look like on a phone as I am putting the site together. Once you start building sites and getting the hang of it, you'll eventually begin cranking them out faster and faster.

If you are comfortable with HTML/CSS etc. then take a look at the mobile site templates at Themeforest. They are professional and look awesome.

If you're interested in a hosted solution, let me know. I'm using a combination approach depending on the needs of the client, and I found a hosted solution that uses HTML5 (that was important to me based on Google's directives), is reasonable, and the sites look great.

Looking for a user friendly program too, not a cheap looking theme, but a real nice slick one that clients will pay bigger $$ for.

How do you edit these themes once they are uploaded? Have only had experience with WordPress so am used to the WP dash and tweaking things from in there. Is there an admin panel?

Failed to upload a recent mobile theme via FTP, it got in there but the apache page loaded rather than the theme.

Really am surprised there are no WordPress friendly themes made specifically for mobile that has options and such. Of course am aware of the plugins and free WP themes for mobile (carrington) but hey suck quite frankly.

There is someone I hired from fiverr to adjust the zooming on my regular website to open up correctly on smartphones like iphone, blackberry etc... for relatively cheap like $5 per page, I had about 8 pages on my website....

Web Easy 8 is what I use from Avanquest. It's a cheap software.

I am using wordpress now as well as my normal mobile package because it is a content management system.

Using wordpress is good because the client can login and change their info so is good as they pay hosting fees.

I'm using Dreamweaver for about a year now and I'm very happy with it. In the past I used several online mobile site creators, but they aren't seo optimized (although many claim they do).

For wordpress there are both free and paid plugins to make a mobile site. Also there a few products here on this forum where you could make both Facebook Fan Page and a mobile website.

And if you do a Google search you will find a lot of different mobile site builders.

Use either search function on this forum or Google.

Will's php templates that you can adjust in minutes, and Quentin's WP ones should take care of 90% of your needs. And you can get both for below $50. Special cases like ecommerce, complex graphics can be outsourced, some to members of this forum.

I've tried four of the top programs and I'm not wholly impressed by any of them except one that costs more than $1,000. I've was so disappointed by this that I decided to create and offer my own. I'll be releasing that sometime in March/April of next year. It will be inexpensive and even cooler than the mobile landing pages we just started offering!!! Standby.

The key is to do your research and go with the product that best suits your needs with what you plan to offer to your clients.
