It got me thinking. Surely we are not the only two people who much prefer to call a restaurant or business to make a booking rather than filling in an online ordering form?

I've talked to several offline marketers who have told me the client they are working with wanted to integrate some type of online ordering system into their mobile website. I have always advised them against doing so for small local businesses as I think taking orders over the phone is much easier and gives the business owner a chance to upsell each customer on the spot.

So, I'm interested to hear what others think.

As long as I can use the coupon codes of that store I always order online. And of course, if the website is mobile friendly, I use my asus transformer to make most of the orders, even if it is a pizza, order from subway and so on. Basically, I place 2% of all my orders over the phone and the rest is all online

Same happened here. Ordering on my phone made me go through too many levels to get what I wanted. Ended up calling

third option for me really depends what it is your ordering...

if its chinese by phone - if its pizza usually online

on a different note i utterly hate dealing with voice verification when paying bills over the phone, they dont cater for people with accents... ie i have an English accent and live in the US, i have the same problem with drive thrus!! GRRRR lol

Depends on what it is. If it's food, I always order by phone, but if it's something like books, electronics or clothes, I order online.

Third option for me too.

And I agree - it does depend on what exactly I am ordering. Something like pizza is usually by phone. Electronics, books, appliances - online. You do spend time to choose in such cases while for food you usually know what you want.
