Just a heads up for anyone in the U.S. looking for a cheap smartphone with equally cheap mobile service. A new wireless company called Republic Wireless is offering unlimited minutes, text, and data for only $19 a month. They only have one phone available so far, the LG Optimus (Android OS). The catch is you have to use a Wi-Fi connection most of the time.

Republic is a subsidiary of Bandwith.com (operates Voip for Twilio, Google Voice and Skype). The cellular service is handled by Sprint.
