My first sale

Guys and gals, I am happy to report I had my first meeting and my first sale today. I was on cloud nine. What a rush!

It was a salon that I got from cold calling. The guy was very interested to meet with me. He's a younger, hip guy that put together the main site and admitted it was quite a chore that he didn't care for.

Anyway, we have Quentin's course and my wife has become very proficient at using it. So, we built him a one page mock up of his site that mirrored the main site. It looked fantastic. We then created a simple postcard and printed it from home. The post card had my logo on it and said 'What do your customers see when they look for your business on their mobile phone?" Below that was a standard QR code with 'Before' under it, and a custom QR code with their logo in color embedded in it with the words 'After' next to it.

I came in and we got right down to business with a simple demo. He loved it and proceeded to ask me several questions about what was possible on the site. He basically sold himself. Price didn't come up until the end. I quoted him $299 because I knew I could get it the way the meeting was going. I didn't want to lose it so I played it safe. Heck, they sell a single package at their spa for more than that. I think I"ll start at $399 on my next visit.

I also told him he could host the site on his own account and I'd do 3 maintenances, one per month up to an hour each. We hashed out the changes he wanted to make on the spot so I can deliver it 95% complete with one round of final edits to his liking. Lastly, I pursued sms marketing for him. He was gun shy about it because a bigger firm quoted a really big fee. I didn't ask how much. We'll get this site done and revisit the SMS topic. His Facebook Fan Page needs help too.

Sorry for the long post. I would just like to sincerely thank Quentin, WillR, Jay Moreno, ScottH, John Durham and others. You have all been such a tremendous help to all of us on the forum with your wisdom, insights and products. Today is a day that changed our family's future and I could not be more excited about it.

Yeah, this is excellent. It shows that cold calling does work and as you mentioned John Durham's his posts on the offline threads are brilliant.

Great work Huskerdarren

Way to go. This stuff is actually quite easy when you just get out there and take action, right?! The great thing is you will get more and more confident the more you sell and it just gets easier and easier. When all is said and done don't be afraid to leave him behind a few postcards he can hand out to other businesses if he likes the job you did for him. Word of mouth can play a big role in offline marketing if you encourage it.

Make sure you also use this case study to help sell your services to future businesses. Once you have REAL examples and results you can show others it becomes an even easier sell.

Wicked ... so just a 1 page demo @ first works eh... good to know..

I guess to make it easier you could ask for their email account and show them the sample there.

Congratulations for your first sale! Can you tell how many calls you did before to get an appointment. Do you have your own website .

Good luck for your business.
