The State of Mobile Integration

If there are still any doubters about mobile, consider this report from Mobile Marketing and Forbes Online:

Today’s Cyber Monday sales data might be impressive – but for a real statistical whopper, take a look at the mobile payments data:
  • Shoppers in the U.S. purchased nearly two and a half times as many items via eBay Mobile this Black Friday when compared to 2010.
  • Correspondingly, PayPal Mobile announced a six-fold (516%) increase in global mobile payment volume compared to last year.
  • GSI Commerce announced a three-fold (254%) increase in U.S. mobile sales on Black Friday.

Granted, percentage is the friend of the small, and mobile payments are still only a blip in terms of overall Dollar volume. But year-over-year growth like this is one more indicator for the longer-term trajectory of mobile payments.

There is no doubt in my mind mobile is going to take over. Everyone who has a smart phone, i am willing to bet uses the internet more on their phone than a pc or LT. Especially business people on the go.

Yes. Everything is moving mobile.

Once payment wallets take off it will be interesting.
