Hi guys. Just got an Android recently. I had an iPhone before. I’m wondering what browsers you Droid guys are using. I’ve tried Chrome, Opera, Dolphin, and Firefox. I can’t get Gmail to display properly in Firefox or Opera, and unfortunately, they are the two I prefer. Dolphin seems a bit bloated and fugly, and I can’t stand the way the deafault browser switches tabs. I would be happy to use FF or Op, if only they displayed Gmail properly. Does anyone know of a way to get Gmail to display the proper modern mobile interface in Firefox or Opera. Or indeed, does anyone know an alternative way to switch between tabs with the default (“chrome”?) browser? Thanks in advance. |

I don't have an Android phone but being that it is a Google operating system, surely they have an app for Gmail so you don't even need to use the browser?

Hey thanks for the reply. Yeah they do have a gmail app but I like using gmail as part of much bigger browsing sessions. Anyway I tried a few more browsers and eventually came across Boat Browser which works just like Safari on iPhone, and displays gmail properly so I'm chuffed. |

There's a ton of good browsers coming to the Android. Whichever you choose, make sure it's secure, as the number of threats that are coming to the Android are going to be on the rise. With that being said, I love my Android device.

I like firefox. I don't understand what you want with gmail. The gmail app is a must have. I personally prefer to use my android to read my gmail instead of my pc or laptop. It works great. Just click on a link to open the browser or open the browser at the same time and you can switch back and forth.

I too like Opera. But I don't use the Opera browser for viewing GMail. There is email and there is GMail. In Android, there is a difference, and you can use the regular email app to view GMail, but I use the GMail app that came on the phone. On a whim, just last week out of curiosity I logged into my GMail account using the Opera browser. Yuck! is all I could say for a few minutes until I went back to the app. |

I think it should work well in opera browser, as it does well on my android phone. If you are not satisfied with it then try using UCweb browser. It might help.

As a long time user of Firefox I wanted to use it on my Android. But it was slow loading and clunky. I'm using Opera mini- very fast and never have to FC it.
