Does anyone have any experiance or ideas on how to make money in the mobile marketing field OTHER than creating and selling mobile websites to clients? It seems to me that designing and selling mobile websites is a natural extension if you already have a web/design/hosting business etc, is this something someone without an exisiting webdesign business could be successful in? |

I think that there are a few other mobile marketing type services you can offer or bundle in addition to mobile websites like SMS, consulting, custom QR codes, full responsive site design, even facebook page design could be considered a mobile marketing service. Still, I think mobile ready websites are an important service for any mobile marketing type of business to offer or have a partner to direct interested clients to because many of the other "mobile marketing" services one could offer would probably benefit from being paired with a mobile website. For example, we started out very niche with custom branded QR codes but quickly learned that not only were our clients begging for mobile websites, it was also an easy upsell that was beneficial to our clients.

I believe what we're seeing is the next wave of popularity in web site design business, partly due to mobile and partly due to affordable design services. I couldn't hire good people when I started. They told me the market was a tough one in our area because the market was saturated. Changing the ad to "Mobile Marketers needed. 40% commission on new services" was the way I found around that. I do lead generation and changed the opening to "Does your business have a mobile accessible website? Most times they don't know that their web site needs to be scrolled for clients to find their address and a map. Basically, the mobile web site is a great hook for new web design business because it opens the door for a large percentage of closed door prospects "because I already have a web site" I give a mobile site free and a QR code. My business has increased by a huge percentage. |

"Mobile Marketing" Example; Consider the Travelers/Tourists checking into YOUR local Hotels/Motel this afternoon; These people; 1) Are Hungry 2) Have a Mobile Phone with them 3) Have Money So...what if you could tell a local restaurant (or 2 or more) that YOU could ....bring these people to THEIR Restaurant! And...what if YOU could tell these Restaurant Owners that THEIR CUISINE would be EXCLUSIVE! ie: Only ONE Mexican Rest....ONE Chinese....ONE...etc Do you think these Restaurant Owners would; 1) Want to Listen to what YOU have to say 2) Once they understand how the program works and how THEY can have an EXCLUSIVE (for their Cuisine)....can you see where they would want to PAY YOU for your "Mobile" program? So...."Mobile" is where it's AT! It's just a matter of WHAT you are offering! Don Alm....idea-guy |

Are you talking strictly marketing via ads to mobile phones....like using admob? Another way to make money is developing mobile apps for iphone, android and windows phones....like App Code by Amish Shaw that was launched a few month ago. In a nutshell, you can develop apps using online free services....submitting them to the app app store for all 3 devices above and get downloads and have ads within your apps so they show up on the end users phone....and if the click on the ad..you get paid...like adsense but for mobile. I've got several apps ...6...in all 3 stores....so 18 total....and the payout is small .....but hey it's another way to make money with mobile. |

Also....one other area to look at is; INDEPENDENT Motel and B and B owners. Almost every one of these in my area (SW Oregon) has a website BUT.... NONE of them are "Mobile Ready"! Run any Motel or B and B site thru a Simulator and whala....you have to scroll all over the place. Their sites do NOT fit on a Mobile Device and...you can easily SHOW them. Then...get their permission for you to make a "Mock Up" and....Whala... Sale! Don Alm |

Mobile marketing should be sold as a "package" that will increase the number of new customers and repeat customers. A mobile website, a mobile landing page, a QR code on the advertising materials, SMS text messag, mobile apps, etc. - all together make a difference, not just one service by itself.

Business owners don't give a crap about a mobile website, seo or anything internet or mobile related. They only care about making more money. Can you do that for them? Can you educate them on how what YOU DO will help them make more money? You need to laser etch this in your brain. |

I echo what Rhurst said....you can outsource the design and other aspects of the job. By going down this route, you must shop around first to find out how much it will cost you to outsource. This way you can determine how much to charge your clients and your profit margin. One rule of thumb, don't mention to the client you are outsourcing the job. There is no need for them to know. One highly credible and trusted outsource company I highly recommend which i use myself is Odesk.com |

With all due respect I think you're off base a bit. Yes, you're right ... More $$$ is the bottom line BUT, HOW that is achieved is pretty important too especially with small business owners.

Making money is easy if you have a product that is easy to use and flexible. I offer a specialized on demand service to my clients and they prefer it over traditional sms marketing for a variety of reasons. Mostly it has to be cost effective... People hate credits. You need something special, not just your average bulk sms blast campaign. End-Users want the information when they choose, not necessarily when the company wants to send it. By sending data only in response to user initiated requests, their is no fear of spam. It also eliminates the need for maintaining huge lists and simplifies the process. The SentBy.Us system does not harvest phone numbers and takes every step to ensure to privacy of the End-User. I cater to the needs of every single client, I don't outsource American Jobs such as support or sales, and I will always spend more time delivering on the promise than on selling the promise. I make money with on-demand mobile marketing solutions for companies nationwide. I have a built a nice sales & support call center which currently has 20 seats. I've hired Independently Contracted sales agents nationwide in strategic regions. I'm more than just a website. And I've gotten more business simply because people can speak to me directly or visit my office. I'm ready to expand again and am talking to a few savvy investors about maybe buying a new building and putting 100 people to work on outbound sales campaigns. Also want to upgrade our servers and refine our processes. But hey, our clients love us and we work hard to give them a good deal. |

heloo.. Well if you are interested in knowing about business related to the mobile websites then the online marketing. i.e search engine optimization for the mobile is a very good idea. The websites as we all know are different for mobile devices and if you optimize for the phones then the traffic would increase as a result of which you can make a lot of money. |

Business idea that worked for me in the past If you have technical skills, help offline clients make use of mobile messaging for appointment reminders, as well as billing balance reminders. Automate it as much as possible, and then sell them a monthly retainer. |

2) Toll Free Numbers do not allow for future Marketing Efforts 3) Toll Free numbers are 10 digits long rather than 5 or 6 digits and harder to remember 4) You can't link a website to an 800 number There are many more reasons SMS Marketing is superior to a simple precorded 800 message.

But how long do you think they find it still cool when that top position doesn't yield them ant new customers and they are paying $300- a month for that service... i think you will get canned soon enough... all these services we offer are only interesting to local business owners if it helps their bottom line, period.

Here are some of my ideas: overall mobile marketing strategy consultant, designing mobile coupon campaigns, creating QR code campaigns, putting together mcommerce sites and strategies, Mobile SEO, sell a product which tells people how to build their list, specialize in text mesagging (what text messaging provider to use and how/when to send messages). You could even white label a text messaging service and offer it as your own.

absolutely. In my opinion, mobile websites are cool but its a limiting factor to maximizing your income from a client. i look at mobile as more of an upsell or part of a package deal. Currently i'm using mobile for a city wide groupon concept with restaurants. Residents get 1 deal a day from a local restaurant via text. i charge the restaurant for utilizing my list to send out their deal. #2 i'm building V.I.P campaigns with restaurants. Basically i'm creating in house campaigns for restaurants and charging a monthly fee. The campaigns include 2-3 in house blast per month, marketing material (signs and table tops). Since these clients understand the power of mobile, my 2012 move is to sell them mobile sites, mobile apps, and other social media tools. this is why i say only leading with 1 tool limits you, unless you have a plan behind your offerings to expand upon your services. |

yep. Trumpia is a pretty good service. the benefit i like about them is cross channel marketing with broadcast, text, and email. The only down fall is lack of long codes and its not super intuitive. only 1 text provider i know of can parse consumers info by either speaking your name and email or texting your name and email to a number. this service will automatically input this info into the respective campaign. trumpia says they plan on rolling this feature out in march.

It is a cold reality but a reality anyway. Customers (especially offline) are really anxious/nervous to make a buck. All they want to see is another lead/client. Mobile technology can really enhance an overall strategy for brick & mortar biz. Restaurant is an example but not the only one. With push messages you can SHAPE your crowd at the time and day you desire. Etc..it is an interesting topic but I woud not bank on this tool as the only tool.

Hate to burst your bubble ther rusty but.... 1. Price is offset by your CPA and I'm sure there are cheap solutions for bootstrappers and shoe stringers 2. If you offer you prospect a free report/guide sent to their address-BINGO (won't even get into having a sales rep on the end of that Toll Free number) 3. If your copy/offer is any good this won't matter at all 4. Nope but if you capture the lead and have their details/make a sale through your rep that won't matter either A text vs a phonecall? hmmm I know which would make a greater impact on a customer ![]()

Regarding your big question how to make money with mobile withOUT selling products to clients? You could readup on the subject watch a few videos and then post a WSO and call yourself a Mobile Guru like a lot of these other guys do. Or if you have photo shop skills you could buy some mobile graphics from a stock website and then create bunch of ready made marketing tools i.e. business cards, brochures and flyers to be used by mobile consultants and sell that on the WSO as well. Kind of like the guys who made a fortune selling picks to the gold miners. But if you really want to make some money, you need to be selling Mobile sites to offline businesses. Everyone has their opinion on what works for them. I suggest you find you three things. 1. An easy to learn Mobile designing system that let's you manage all of your clients on one system. Hopefully with a built in QR code maker. 2nd. A really good facebook fanpage creating system. 3. A kit with pre made Mobile marketing templates for example marketing flyers, business cards, tested email sales letters, client agreement contracts, etc. 5. If possible hire someone to show you how to use all of these tools with the one main objective and that is to bring more customers to the business that is going to hire you to handle their Mobile marketing campaign. 6. Get a crash course on Google places and basic SEO strategies. You will need this for the big picture but not required for in order to make money with Mobile marketing. It just makes since that a restaurant for example would want to work with a company that can do it all rather then pay you to handle Mobile and another company to optimize their website. Now you can go and buy a bunch of different programs and use the hit and miss technique like I did until I found the perfect set of products. Or you can pay someone for their 5 months of research and get everything handed to you on a silver platter for say around $1000. Turnkey instructions. This way you come out the gate running and if you are a good learner you could possibly make all that money back in two or three days with a little luck and a lot of ambition. If you are interested, give me a call and I will connect you to such a person. Have you up and running with the latest in Mobile technology in no time. I can just about guarantee that you will be happy with the service. Anyways that's my 2 cents on the subject. To answer your question. Yes, you can be VERY successful with Mobile marketing without any experience in website design. Especially, if you Mobile product is package correctly and offers features that are state of the art and ahead of the curve. With that said... I would like to wish EVERYONE a Happy New Year!! 2012 Let's make some money!!! (smile) Sincerely, Team NBAY

2,3,4 Thats a LOT of "IF"s While both have their strong points, SMS is going to be more automated and less cost...just the way it is. Additionally a Toll Free number is harder to remember at 10 digits where a shortcode is only 5 to 6 digits. People are often in noisy environments or are in a position where they cant make a phone call. SMS resolves those issues.
