    Hi Instructor,

I have been a white label client with Lime Cellular for seven months and I can't say enough good things about them.

They have all the usual features you'd want in an SMS marketing platform, including scheduling of messages, text2win, polls, questionnaires, WAP coupons with built in tracking of views and redeems, a WAP ad builder, multiple lists, etc. I spent several months researching providers and decided upon Lime for several reasons.

First, I've been able to deal directly with the owner of the company, and he has been very responsive and usually replies to emails within a few hours, even on the weekend. They also have regular webinars for clients about how to use the platform and new features.

Second, unlike others, Lime isn't competing with their White Label partners. They are strictly a developer and own the short code, but they don't go sell the service on a retail level. They want to work with marketers like us, not compete against us.

Third, they are continually developing the platform. The developers log on their website always has one or two updates every week, and they are always adding new features.

From the admin panel, you can log into each of your client's accounts to manage them. You also have the option of giving them login access to manage their own accounts. It is a very easy system either way you want to do it. The integration with my website is seamless so if you decide to give your customers access, they will never know it is Lime's software and not yours.

I think Lime Cellular is the best white label SMS marketing platform.

I am looking into Trumpia right now. I've signed up for a free 30 day trial so you can see how their platform works. The offer an all-in-one marketing solution. Their reps are pretty helpful and they have offered me monthly pricing. There's a $500 set up and $299/mo. If you want to add their email platform, that's an additional $125-$150/mo. I was given the option also to purchase credits in bulk, starting with 100,000 credits for $2200.

          Looking at others as well.

I was told Trumpia is the best one and it seems like every site I find that is selling their mobile marketing solution for small businesses is using Trumpia.

Newbie question but thinking of reaching the offline mobile marketing niche as a sideline hobby.

It seems lime cellular is the winner but Does limecellular only cater to US market or can it work in Canada as well?

Lime Cellular does work in Canada. Here is their list of supported Canadian carriers:

      Aliant Mobility
      MTS Mobility
      SaskTel Mobility
      Vidéotron
      Mobilicity
      Bell Mobility
      NorthernTel Mobility
      Télébec Mobilité
      Virgin Mobile Canada
      Fido
      Rogers Wireless
      TELUS Mobility
      WIND Mobile

I think Lime Cellular is the best white label SMS marketing platform.

Thanks, T J, that info is helpful as I'm again in the market. I have seen mobileStorm often, but did not know that they have a reseller program. I may look into that. I also have spoken with AvidMobile, but am confused as to why they need to charge me a monthly fee to be a reseller. Do you happen to know if Lime Cellular charges? I'm not high on the idea of buying texts and reselling them. A reseller that sells under that company's name, IMO, should not have to purchase it and resell it. Even if you brand the product as your own, I think having a buy rate established by the company is enough - after all, I am bringing them the new customer, why should I be charged to do it? Just my two cents.

Two other questions - do they do QR codes and mobile websites?

I am signed up with one that I would completely NOT recommend, so if anyone needs to know one to stay away from, let me know, as I don't want to publicly call them out.

I don't have the details on them yet. I've spoken to reps at them and scheduled demos for this week. I know there are a few with a free start-up solution, but most have a start-up cost. Best thing to do is sign up for a demo with these providers and talk to the reps. You'll get better first hand info that way. I can tell you that there are several users of Avid and Limecellular here in the WF.

As for websites, again, some do and some don't.

With QR Codes, a few of them do provide generators. I've been looking into QR Generators with advanced features and I'll come back here with my results this week.

          TJ,

I was aware of the forum for a long time, but never really made too much time for it. I was pressured in to it by a few of our partners who actively post on here, ha ha.

A lot of companies offer a ton of different features. If you look at 10 different providers you are going to find 10 different things you really like that the other providers may not offer.

Obviously this holds true for pricing structures as well. When you speak to rep's ask them to show you a performa so you can evaluate long term pricing of not only that given company, but the competition. When you take in to consideration messaging prices, keywords fee's, etc, you will get a better understanding of what company will be the best fit for you. As I stated before this is a decision for the long term and you are choosing a company you want to grow and expand with.

          A couple responses here;
I know Lime and AvidMobile have a mobile website platform. From my preliminary walkthrough of both AvidMobile's looks far superior.

A comment on the idea of high investment to license a real platform. Well from an investment standpoint, there is very few businesses in the world that you can start for $300 per month. Go open a hot dog stand, and you will invest more than that!

If you go with a company that has good training, and can help you ramp up quickly, I don't see how in the first month of selling you couldn't close 5 or 8 clients.

Let's say you close each of 5 clients for a $50 setup and $40 per month. That is $90 per client x 5 clients = $450 return month 1
Many businesses take a year to recoup your money. This business I could see myself being profitable month 1.

If there aren't 5 businesses in my city that wouldn't want to do mobile coupons, database building, and have a mobile website for that amount of money, then I don't really know what the heck i could sell that would be better.
This appears to be an easy choice and great opportunity.

Perhaps those that couldn't close enough sells to recoup their $300 per month weren't following the right sales model, priced their services too high, or simply were lazy and didn't make the calls and set appointments.
I don't really know, just talking (*or typing) out loud.

Great list! Thanks. I admit I am new to this, I looked at most of the companies on your list. I am still really happy with AVID. We are in the second tier great block of texts included and per text overages are great price too. We are a small two person office so I have to pick my focus. I am going to focus on Real Estate Agents with a monthly of $40, $2 per listing and 5 cents a text. Do you folks think that is a good price? I figure I have my monthly fees covered with 7 agents. Also they are having a convention in Sept for Real Estate Agents I am thinking of going and showing this new app... anyone have luck with agents?

    Jason,

Every company charges you a monthly fee, it is simply a matter of how they access it. They could have an upfront fee you pay from the beginning, or charge you per keyword. Each mobile marketing provider is paying the fee to own a short code (or long code) and these are not cheap to possess and are also tedious to maintain (making sure all of your resellers are compliant, stay in good standing with carriers, etc.)

Obviously the more clients you place on to a short code, the quicker your availabity of keywords diminishes, resulting in you having to license new codes and absorb more cost. Also depending on the size of the company, they are continually paying to advance the capabilities there platform has as to keep up with the ever changing technology advancements, and expand support so they can continue to satisfy your needs. For example a company like ours has both marketing and technology support both, which means our company has to pay an abundance of support agents to be there for our partners, helping to ensure their success.
It is a hard decision to make and a life changing one to say the least, hopefully this helped you out a little bit.

I'd just like to give a quick testimonial to James and Avid Mobile. Many comments from competing companies to Avid use the same canned response, "ABC Company doesn't compete with you". Yes Avid sells their own product to end users but guess what, the also share challenges and responses to the challenges. They use their own ad builder and site builder. They know the difficulties and benefits of it from the reseller viewpoint. Esentially they are one of us. They are in the trenches with us. When I signed up for a demo with them it was short...couple days I think. James Hutson was my SM/AM and he traded eamils with me over the weekend and late into the night getting me started. At first I was put off by the short trial period but I realized it was excellent marketing: show your best, give them a taste of it and wrap it up and ask for the sale. Do we want to extend the sales cycle out forever or ask for the sale while the prospect is excited? I too have been able to correxpond via email with Rob Clifton, CEO of AvidMobile and he is very responsive and seems to like taking action. Full Disclosure: Lime has called me up or emailed me a couple times from when I was looking at them before and they have some sexy stuff and I am tempted to consider, but the bottom line is they dont have a marketing background, they have higher prices. They have a sleek sexy interface but I can do exactly the same with Avid. Avid has stepped up to do all the IP stuff and Patent rights to protect us from some legal issue that may or may not arise, I like that they are leading the fight rather than taking the wait and see.

For me, AvidMobile is the total package. They do what it takes to keep me as a customer and treat me as a VALUED customer. I dont have anything negative to say about the other providers but I can tell you AvidMobile is a great partner for me. I have a meeting with a potential client Monday @ Lunch. YEAH!

I wanted to throw the company "Trumpia" into this mix, just because I didn't see them elsewhere in this thread. It has been a while since I seriously considered a SMS sideline, but when I was looking, Trumpia was the one that stood out to me. I also often get emails from them on special deals if I were to sign up for their white label program, so maybe a thing to do would be to get them your email, and then just see what kind of deals they might pitch you.

Lime sounds pretty awesome too, though, I must admit!

I chose Trumpia white label platform because it does not have a monthly fee. I just purchase credits and I use as much as I need. However, AvidMobile has much more education on mobile marketing and they teach you how to sell the service to offline businesses.

From what I understand they are referring to the viral sharing component. Basically you can setup campaigns where someone gets the initial message, then the offer to share their unique code with X more people and get either a bigger discount, freebie, etc. If it was 5 more people, once 5 more people text in with the code and subscribe, the first person gets whatever they were offered. At that point the 5 people who were referred each get a message with a unique code offering them their own reward if they get 5 more people to text in with their code, wash, rinse repeat.

For the record, I own it but I can't vouch for reliability or anything as I haven't really pushed it very hard to be able to tell. It is owned by Dave Iago here on the forums.

Edit, it is twilio based, using long codes.

Just received an email from an Avid Mobile Rep.

he stated Avid's Loyalty Program can do what DanielM nicely described.

Someone dredged up my old thread. Very timely since I'm on the verge of FINALLY making a decision.

Does the loyalty program cost more? What's the total upfront and monthly going to be?

Thank you for starting this thread Instructor. I have tried a couple of companies as well and all seem to fall a little short somewhere (customer service support and user friendliness) ....Really wish I would have came here first! So the toss-up seems to between Trumpia, Avid and Lime Cellular....has anyone tried AnchorMobile.net yet? They seem to have the most user friendly mobile-website builder just a hefty start-up fee leaves me still debating which one will be best, with the focus being a good white labeled back office that integrates well on my personal website and not a pre-made template and good customer service. Anymore suggestions or feedback on AnchorMobile would be so appreciated!

Very objective question, probably best thing to do is sign up for a free trial and work the sales / support team at each respective white label provider and see who you feel the most comfortable and confident with. Currently Trumpia differentiates ourselves in the marketplace by being an all-in-one provider with a focus on not only SMS mobile marketing, but also email marketing and social media.

Trumpia also differentiates themselves by sitting on this forum and constantly tooting their own horn. All the other SMS providers don't need to do it because others are talking about and recommending them.

But not Trumpia... they need to sit here and constantly do it, and have been for the last year.

I live in Canada and looked for a reseller/white label sms platform about 11 months ago to use here. I tried trumpia, and avid and they were expensive as hell, and then I tried galaxytext and they're great, I'm still with them now. You need to make sure though when you call these guys to not get suckered in the hostings and extra stupid costs that are bullshit. Avid was a headache to break away from and out of respect I wont mention the prices. At least with galaxytext they dont shove upsells down my throat and it's not a dumb credit system.

I'm not sure why you think a credit system is dumb. I wouldn't want to build to 3 million a month on an unlimited plan because I know they would not be making money and therefore I could lose my service.

A local fast food chain had that happen. They were on an unlimited plan and got too big so they got cancelled.

I'll explain and this isn't an ego or a "I think I know it all". I worked with 2 other partners on this for 11+ months 24/7, I've seen it all in MM, I know all the companies out there who offer MM. I've tried it all as well, and I blew a lot of money and lost A LOT of prospects, but just to make a point about credit system, when you see a client, it's tough enough to make an appointment and an initial pitch. Then you finally have the day of the meeting with the client, finally when you explain everything and they LIKE IT, then they go, ok, so how much does something like this cost, and when I was using the credit system I didn't land ONE client because convincing them mobile is here and people text is hard enough, then you need to explain for every text you send out it's 3 credits and blah blah blah and then you get objections and rebuttals. It's enough 80% of clients are not technically savvy(even the corporations with marketing teams are idiots), then explaining how pricing works confuses them even more and you get the old run around, "Ok great thanks, can I have your business card?", or worse, "I need to talk to my partner". If they weren't sold on it, you think they will convince or even care to explain their partners, and when their partners ask how much it is and the initial partner doesn't even really understand the credit system(even though it's simple),... well you get the picture.

With pricing up front it's easy. I never offer unlimited text ever unless I know the style of business. We both know which industries are perfect for text and which aren't. If someone comes to me and I know it's going to be high volume MT I price accordingly. I only offered unlimited texting ONCE and it was in real estate because I offer 10 keywords at lets say $30 per keyword. Well I know each house will only get an opt-in rate of 10-15 people. So if I say text is $.05 and there's 15 people per house opting in that's 150 x $.05= 7.5 bucks for those texts. Instead of confusing them with MTs and MOs and all that jargon, to land that client I will say it's $30 per house, everything included. I try and simplify the process as much as I can. In MM when I see a business model of unlimited text just pay for the number os subscribers(opt-ins), it disgusts me because these companies know there's low opt-in from customers so they bank on that and YOU LOSE. I can go on but that's my input.

I've been with Avid for about 6 months.

They have the best per sms pricing in the industry. If your clients, in aggregate, will be sending out tens or hundreds of thousands of texts per month, then the monthly license fees become irrelevant and the per-sms fees of paramount importance.

Also, you have room to grow your business by bringing in other resellers (organization level) or even resellers that manage other resellers (enterprise level). Other white-label services I've looked in to do not offer this.

If you plan to bring in large, multi-site businesses as clients, you need this flexibility.

Sorry but I have to say this is the biggest load of crap EVER and the same shit Avid told me when I signed up with them.

Let me ask you Gene, how many clients do you have? Are you sending out over 1000 texts a month? How many opt-ins with how many keywords? Believe me I will tell everyone reading this now that you will not be landing clients or businesses like you think. I have been doing this full time and I know the market and business from A to Z. Avid is in the business to sell to suckers like Gene and me. Of course on paper it looks good to save money on text messages in the long term, but don't be an idiot. No one or business WILL EVER SEND THAT MUCH. I have very big clients and you know how many texts they send out? Not much. So I was paying the retarded expensive monthly license fees until I realized that I was losing so much money. Sorry but Avid are crooks and I will be glad to debate this with anybody here or Rob at Avid. Please find me a business, a corporation that is sending millions of text messages.

The money to be made in Mobile Marketing are from resellers and white label business, not from the actual technology. Want proof? Why does Avid push the reseller and white label? I got sucked into it. They make money off people like us, not actually businesses. People need to really get their elbows dirty in this business before they make posts on here.

Well... if you go directly with Avid, then you better have a plan to recoup your costs.

I think I read somewhere that the average white-label SMS reseller takes 6 to 12 months to really learn the biz and start getting clients.

However, if you know someone who is an org-level reseller for Avid, then he might be willing to work something out for you so you can get in the biz without all the high fees...

What about it Kefka... want back in?

Gene, just to mention don't take my comments as a personal attack, I am just voicing my experience with Avid, but I need you to answer my question about how many clients you currently have and how much MTs are sent each month because you must either work for Avid or are a reseller.

I was with Avid, it was extremely expensive to start up with ZERO return and believe me I pushed really hard, I didn't sit back behind a computer like most people want to do on here and wait for clients. I'm just saving people the time and money when there are so many other companies at a low investment to start up. This knowledge and wisdom will save a lot of money for a lot of people.

As well to read a study that says resellers typically take 6-12 months to get customers. It's very accurate, and applys to any offline business really which anchors my point even more. You will be paying an arm and a leg for the first year and even 2 years before you break even. I'm using someone else now, I'm not with Avid anymore so I don't need to get "back in". I don't have to sweat my balls off praying to break even anymore, I can take the small losses.

I don't think I hid the fact that I'm an Avid reseller... I've been with them for 6 months.

It's true that a more cost-effective route to getting started with this business might have been to go with a low-cost alternative during the learning-curve time.

But, had I not learned about the Avid platform, I would not now be in a position to offer the features & pricing required to close several national organizations with a combined 80 or so locations between them. The projected volume of texts for these two customers will eventually reach a million or more per year.

Furthermore, Avid's CEO participated in the sales process by hosting a customized Webex presentation.

My vision is to grow my text marketing business by specializing in multi-site organizations and working with resellers.

I have a team of telemarketing agents in the Philippines grooming databases for me and generating leads. I'll probably end up referring all sing-site leads to resellers that work with me.

I also have educational/training kits under development for a variety of sms niches. I'm still undecided as to how they will fit in with the overall strategy, but they will be an important asset.

If anyone's interested in repping the Avid platform as a reseller, I'll make it easy for them to get started- just contact me.

Exactly my point, so why the heck would someone pay insane high prices from the start only to get a customer or two 1 year later?(and the profit you make is peanuts by the way) This is offline marketing, not online. That means you need to get off away from your computer and go into meetings and call people.

With that said, there are PLENTY of companies that offer a very low start up with a shared short code, as low as even $20 a month with a certain amount of MTs. Want to start out then do it that way, test the market and if there is potential think about a dedicated short code and a full attempt into SMS. I made the mistake of jumping into SMS with retarded high prices. I know better now.

        hi

just found this discussion and i jump in as i am researching the same thing since the past 7 days. I am from Europe.

I have a classified website where i want to integrate sms payment so my customers when they post an ad they pay via sms.

I found a few solutions however all the companies i found have a strong brand like their logo is everywhere and i do not want to advertise any of them for my customers who are signing up on my site.

I am looking for a white label reseller solution for taking sms payment on my website perhaps reselling the solution for other website owners under my brand and if there are options for sms marketing solution in the same white label package would be great.

does this company or solution exists i described above? and supports countries in the European Union?

No need for that. Had an atrocious experience with Avid. Would NEVER recommend them to anyone. So please move along.

I have to agree with you for most part @Markmobiler!

When I fist got into mobile years ago wanted to control everything, meaning having my own platform on my own server. This is just the way "I use to be".

But as my business grew + more and more features demanded by clients I learned that the amount of time invested maintaining was not worth the effort.

Started by using an SMS plugin sold here (WSO) and soon found the author answered his help desk tickets when "he had time". Well my clients did not operate by mine or his hours so it became a nightmare. Lesson learned...

$300 (or even $600) a month for a solid platform is a very small investment for those wanting to run a real SMS business.

If you want to "dabble" go host your own or get one of the platforms that answers your issues in 24 or "so" hours. If you want to run a real business and sleep at night, invest in a real platform

Terry I have followed your footsteps through the years on this forum. I have seen you involved in almost all the same products and services that i have gotten involved with. I understand your feelings on this and agree with you. To date I have found many self hosted platforms that to date I have no issues, Then again I have been in your shoes with other platforms that where nightmares and sad support! I know the plugin that sold here which you spoke of and had the same problem. I still kinda use it for small clients but move them to other sofware platforms if they need other services.

Not everyone starting out has the capital to go to and get a real system so dabble they do LOL.

I respect your word as I know you been around this as long as I

Hey Joe! Yes I can tell we have been around the same block a few times I only hope you have not stumbled as many times as I have, lol.

Many times when I start a new project and especially businesses I do not throw funds at or into it without dabbling first. It does not matter if I have extra funds sitting around (normally not the case for me), I still go the cheapest route which is "do it yourself" 99% of the time.

Once I have turned a profit and have done so for 6 straight months, time to start looking for ways to lighten my burden of do-it-yourself.

In the case of my SMS business I sold off all self-hosted clients, the platform running it and 6 months of support to new owner. This turned a very, very nice profit. I then turned around started building another SMS business but this time choose the hosted version where someone else handles backend issues.

My biggest issues these days is age and health. In the younger days I could run for days on end with 4 hours sleep per day. Loved to dabble and do it all myself. Now I fall asleep after working 4 hours, LOL.

    Talk soon my friend.

    Terry

I do like Lime but my research has proven the platform by easymoneywithmobile to be far better for me. They offer a do it all for you or do it yourself format. They offer a $1. trial too which I like.

Protexting used to offer sms private label solutions, but on a higher level with licensing the sms platform, monthly fees for all of the apps they offer. If you are seriously trying to enter the sms marketing field, you'll need to take your time and research all of the companies out there. It is very competitive industry now, not as it used to be.

The only people promoting Avidmobile are Avidmobile employees. Save your money and look for a different company. Lime Cellular is the best solution if you are looking for an all in one platform and they actually own/create the technology they sell...unlike Avid.
