"HOPPY-OLOGY!" Hi folks....the time is 3pm in the afternoon of Weds, Dec 7, 2011. I just entered my Home Office after feeding my "Pet Wild Turkey with One Leg" (See photo below) I live on a hill overlooking my small town of Roseburg, Oregon (pop about 20,000) and....Deer, Possums, Raccoons, Many Species of Birds and....WILD TURKEYS visit my front and back yards. Last Spring, one of the dozens of wild turkeys that visit us in our Front Yard....showed up with a Broken Leg. We named HER...."HOPPY" and....I started feeding her a Special Mix of Sunflower Seeds in my BACK Yard. Well....as I was looking at this "wild" turkey this afternoon (she's almost ready to eat out of my hand)...I thought; "Ya know....here is a WILD animal that is normally AFRAID of humans and yet....it is almost ready to eat out of my hand. (See Photo Below) As she was munching away I thought, "Ya Know....it's the SAME with SELLING! Ya gotta give your "Target Market" (whether it's a Wild Turkey or a business owner, professional, dentist or medico)....a REASON to DO what YOU want! How did I get a single, wild turkey (with a broken leg) to; .... Leave the Pack of a dozen or more of her group...who eat in my Front Yard...to leave the Flock and fly OVER my roof....to my Back Yard to a Special Feed Area? It's called, "enticements"! If the "enticements" are STRONG ENOUGH...you can get...even...WILD TURKEYS to...."do YOUR Bidding"! So....my point is; Offer potential customers, clients....a High-enough REASON to do something and....you "Got Em"! Don Alm...."Hoppy-Ologist" |

Re: "HOPPY-OLOGY!" You sure it is not luck that wins a new client? Putting it in prospective with the turkey, the turkey was lucky he found you and even more lucky that he survived the Thanksgiving feast. :) So maybe it is luck that gets a new client. Just something to think about. Michael |

Sure, the Turkey could have gone elsewhere and found it's own food but because it was much easier for the Turkey to come and get a guaranteed meal, it had no reason to go elsewhere. This is exactly the same as real life sales. Give the business owners something they need (more customers and more money) and you will have a client for life. |
Re: "HOPPY-OLOGY!" However.....on "Turkey-Day" eve....I overheard the 2 Neighbor kids talking on their front porch...'Hey! Wouldn't it be cool to have T'Day Turkey this year with ONE Drumstick?" So....on the day before T'Day....I did some extra special watching on Hoppy. And....sure nuff....at noon on T'Day....Hoppy showed up at her Special Feeding Spot in my back yard....alive and well and....HAPPY when she saw me coming out the door with he favorite bag of goodies. Thus....as goes Hoppy's life WANTING to be fed with GOOD FOOD....so goes small business owners existence...WANTING to be FED with "Customer/Client"..... "Food"! Something I've always said; "SHOW them how YOU can Feed Them with GOOD FOOD..... and...they will Come!" Don Alm...."Feeding" small biz owners |
