I've been to Freelancer, through Google search results, all kinds of websites, and even here at the WF, but no one seems to have a straight direct answer to my simple need: I want an app that can be loaded onto any mobile phone that can display it and that simply goes to my own website when the phone user clicks on it. How hard can that be to answer? All the programmers out there wont talk to me unless I commit to a project. How am I supposed to do that when I haven't a clue about mobile apps or project prices or even what I need technically? App needs to be cross-phone compatible (IE, any mobile phone capable of supporting it can use it); mobile phone user loads app, sees app icon on his/her phone screen, clicks on that icon, is taken to my website! How difficult can that be to answer? No one will give me an answer without a commitment to a project. I'm frustrated. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

I think what you need is just an app that will launch mobile phone's browser and then open your website. Should be simple.

Okay, obvious question: Why do you need an app for that? A bookmark to your site will do exactly what you are describing. You know you can make custom bookmarks for phones, right? If you must have an app, Google "turn your website into an app". |

I'm not familiar enough with the technology but some phones don't use browsers, preferring instead to use SMS, etc. So I'd need someone familiar with all the platforms for communication to make an app that detects the existing phone software and exploits it.

Exactly. Its all in the reason why a user would want to add an app like that to their phone. If I fleshed out that reason for you, however, you'd probably drop your jaw just like I did.

I think you need specify a detailed specs. Here is what come into my mind.. what phone you will target: high-end mobile phone (that has browser) or low-end mobile phone (that don't have browser) ? what the platform you will use: Android, iOS, Windows Mobile, Blackberry, Symbian, Nokia OS ?? Not all phone can be installed apps. You said that some phone don't have browser.. that kind of phone might not be able to install apps.

Then I need either PhoneGap or DXHTML to make it available as an downloadable cross-browser compatible app. The thing is, I would need to learn how to use html5 as well as PhoneGap/DXHTML. I can do it but what a learning curve. It will take me months. Anyway, thanks for the suggestion.

I think You should make a mobile verison of your website., So when anyone clicks on the link of your website through mobile, it'll land on that version.Put redirection on your website for it. I think it'll help. |
