Do you have any success selling mobile website to Business that have Flash based website? As WillR mentioned, business that have flash based website is an easy target, since flash is not supported on any Apple product (iPhone, iPad). I agree with this as it make sense.. you show to business owner that their website can not load in mobile phone, while your service can make it happen.. most likely they will buy the service from you. So I just want to gather some feedbacks on this... Do you have any success selling mobile website to Business that have Flash based website? |
Re: Do you have any success selling mobile website to Business that have Flash based website? I have read other posts that seem to indicate this is a tough sell in some areas.. a little bit easier in others. Those selling mobile website products (that seems to be the product dejour on the WSO forum) make it seem like it's the magic wand and businesses will be tripping over themselves to get a piece of this revolutionary technology. There are plenty of people on other threads that are not meeting with those results but rather find it frustrating that business owners are so "hard headed". In part it also depends on who you target apparently. Restaurants are likely to benefit more from mobile websites and at the same time that seems to be where everyone is focused so competition is fierce. Success in this endeavor as it is in just about any other business, will come from persistence and laser focus. No matter what we set out to do, there are a bunch of people heading in the same direction... it is survival of the fittest. |
Re: Do you have any success selling mobile website to Business that have Flash based website? I honestly don't think it's "Dog Eat Dog" in the "selling mobile website world"...YET! ;) Only about 5% of all websites are mobile friendly at present...so, I GUESS at LEAST half of the remaining 95% are businesses that would consider a mobile site added on to their present site. That means MILLIONS of sites WILL go mobile. :D Right now...in the "PRE-Mobile Boom"...it's SHOCKING how absolutely IGNORANT so many businesses are of how mobile can and WILL help their businesses! THAT is what's making it tough for us to sell to them! BUT...Once these people DO catch on, and see those around them using mobile...it's going to be a Global MADHOUSE RUSH to get their sites Mobile Friendly! Like Dennis Miller would say, "I don't want to go on a Rant here...but, that's only my opinion...I could be wrong!" :D Ruben James  |

Selling is all about finding those people who are in desperate need of your product or service. The more desperate the less convincing you need to do. It's obviously going to be much easier to convince someone with a blank screen thus why I recommend people use this trick. It does work. Just because it doesn't work for some people does not mean it doesn't work. It's a tough lesson for most people when it comes to sales. Don't blame the product or service or even the client because often the reason why a business owner does not purchase is because of something you (proverbial you) did or did not do . |

Re: Do you have any success selling mobile website to Business that have Flash based website? Hi, Willr is correct in his post. Just proving a point to a customer can get the sale. If the customer is still declining, just ask them why? (are they not going ahead). There is always a reason not to do something, and as businesses have a myriad of sales people coming to them everyday, it can build a "block" to dealing with "you". As a last resort, explain in short form, what you can do for them etc. If they still do not want to do anything, use a low whisper voice saying (words to the effect of) " Mr Smith/John, I am perplexed as to why you are reluctant to go ahead. Is there something I have not explained properly or is there some other reason? Please let's be openly honest with each other, as I believe that I have done my best for you, and If I have not, please tell me". Don't accuse the customer of dishonesty, or blame the customer. You are trying to find out why they are not going ahead with the decision. Notice I did not mention money, otherwise they can use that as an excuse. Sometimes it will be true, but a good business person always has some form of financial reserve for "just in case". Hope to have helped Mark |

Re: Do you have any success selling mobile website to Business that have Flash based website? Sunburn... EXACTLY!!! :) Back in 1998 I worked for an ISP TRYING to sell businesses on the New-Fangled Flash-in-the-Pan FAD called the Internet! I remember a number of times pointing to a UPS truck parked in front of the business and saying, "See the URL on the side of their truck... UPS.com?!?" :D Their answer, "Weeeelllll, I don't know. I think it's just a fad that we blow over in a month or two. I think I'll just wait and see." Jeez! Ruben James  |
