Mobile Compatable Sites Vs Mobile Sites
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

I use the carrington theme with my Wordpress sites usually in conjuction with a Studiopress theme, I get my clients offer and Phone number to the top of the page, now I know there is no click to contact button on a mobile hybrid theme like this, and I do have access to a specific mobile site builder.

Question is this, as the mobile hybrid does a reasonable job of getting clients (especially for my Locksmith Client) is there a massive benefit in a fully mobile site? I've been around a few years and I know that I should, can anyone give any advice on whether I should continue using mobile hybrid or go for a redirectied fully mobile compatable site?

Ps I use a Samsung S2 and it seems screens are getting bigger, I can easily see normal sites on my S2

I would go for a separate mobile site instead of a hybrid, it doesn't have to be fancy at all, especially if your client is a locksmith... they don't need regular updates and latest news and stuff like that, just 2/3 pages will do... a service page, a contact page maybe a about us page... if you're clients has a service where the customer has to visit them like a car mechanic you could ad a direction page....

Ad a big tap here to call button on the site and your done....

You can make the "TAP TO CALL" feature on any site, by using a hyper link and enter this as your link tel:5554445555.

lol.. wonder how many people know this simple concept. Funny how some WSOs tout this as such a big deal.. like their mobile plugin is so special because it has this feature.

Hi John,
I would always go with a Mobile site, they are cleaner and easier for the customer, if you use a decent platform you can do your SEO on the sites, add in Youtube videos, Directions,(especially for the small business man like your Locksmith who rely s on getting his customers from the person who is using a mobile device) they need to find him, or at least know where he is. and with a separate mobile site you can tailor your content for the site.
Your content should be in small bite size chunks, because the mindset of the mobile user is different from the person sitting behind his computer at home, they want just the relevant info needed.
Another note, use a .mobi domain name and you can boost your rankings in the search engines for your customer.
I use WP Mobile Pro , and have found it very clean and effective for mobile needs, it is a product of Jason Flaidlins. I'm not an affiliate, just a satisfied customer.
Enjoy your day.

On autoblogs (my network of feeder blogs) I usually just go with WP Mobile Pack plugin. My money sites get a separate .M website for SEO purposes. Sometimes these end up being simple mobile landing pages with just an optin form with a headline and a photo or simple graphics.

I also use a redirect script on the main site to make sure mobile users land on the proper page. I also am a fan of WP Mobile Pro!

I just want to make sure that my clients get the best sites to ensure that they keep getting clients, never really looked closely at mobile sites, however a thought hit me as my locksmith customer is an emergency service, his customers are likely to be locked out and only able to use a smart phone, so I thought I would seek some help from the Warriors here, the themes are redirected to carrington mobile when accessed from a mobile device, but this is a hybrid so it is limited as to it's capability on mobiles, so I guess I know everyones talking Mobiles, but as the search data shows such a limited amount of searches via mobile (increasing all the time though) I wanted some good sound advice, where else but the Warrior Forum - John
