WP Mobile Redirection plugin

Hi everyone.

Wanted to share my wordpress mobile redirection script...

The WP Mobile Redirection plugin allows your Wordpress site to redirect to a url of your choice if a user visits your site with a mobile device.

== Description ==

WP Mobile Redirection, using php code detection from the MobileESP open source project (The MobileESP Project: Easily detect mobile web site visitors).

== Installation ==

This describes how to install the plugin and get it working.

1. Upload the `wp-mobile-redirection` directory to the `/wp-content/plugins/` directory
1. Activate the plugin through the 'Plugins' menu in WordPress
1. Go to Settings->WP Mobile Redirection, and choose the full url (with http...) you want users redirected to

Hope you find it useful :) I welcome all feedbacks

Eric

Hi Eric,

Does this mask the redirect url?

Cheers,

Adam

I installed it, but when I try it on my phone I am getting a 404 page error.

Anyone else have this issue?

Try again and put the full URL and and save settings.... with http: // (example: http://m.google.com)

That will work for you.

If it's a local (on same domain) redirect... you can take away the http://domain.com/ and only input: subfolder/mobilesite/ or subfolder/?view=mobilesite etc.

Hope that makes sense.

I would like to add.. since my WP Mobile Redirection plugin use the MobileESP open source php library, it's very powerful and do the job pretty well for (detects) most mobile devices.

I'm planning to post a standalone php redirect and javascript version that uses MobileESP as well here in this tread, just have to test them a bit, and clean up some code ;)

Yes it does. I just made a test myself.

I will come with a small update later today for the plugin - a php5 fix.

I also will publish the standalone javascript and php version.

Thank.

Eric...Will the plugin update from within wp or will we have to come back here to get a link for the download?

Thanks for asking. You don't need to update this plugin very often, but if you check this site every 3-6 months it should be fine: WP Mobile Redirection Plugin - Wordpress Mobile Plugin

Please note I have updated the main post with stand alone versions with JavaScript and PHP code of the WP mobile redirection plugin

Soory for my dumb question, but just to be clear, I install this plugin on my Main website and not on my Mobile site, is that correct?

That's correct, you install this where you have the "desktop version" of your site.

Hey Eric,
Great share but since I have several sites on my ONE wordpress, how is this redirect code going to work for each individual site if I am only putting the required code into the main index file? hope it makes sense.
Thanks.

Hey thanks for making this available for everyone and keeping it updated!!!

Maybe an idea for the future... on the download page could you add revision numbers or dates of the latest updates? It would make it easy to determine if we need to download the plugin again or we already have the latest updates...

Thanks for considering!

Re: WP Mobile Redirection plugin

Eric,
Here's what I am up against. I installed and used the EZMG and now have 3 mobile sites on there, since I am hostng the mobile versions, when someone goes to say...www.abc.com (the clients original site) how would I get the mobile site which I host to show up on the smartphone instead of the clients original site?

and the same for all the other sites I have hosted?

Okay Eric long story short, below is an incompleted site which I am doing.
http://mobilemarketinggonewild.net/?...stparkresearch

As it is right now...if mobile user's went to their actual site it will look awkward, huge and hard to nav. but that's understood.

No I want that site that I created to show up instead of their Big awkward site...

How should I set that up?

Keep in mind that I have more than one of these mobile site on my single wordpress site and soon they too will need the same results as stated above...HELP!

Thanks

What I would do is using the standalone scripts in a subfolder for each of the additional (clients) "http://mobilemarketinggonewild.net/eastparkresearch/" sites. That should work. And use the WP Redirection plugin for one main mobile site on your wordpress install. Make sense?

Re: WP Mobile Redirection plugin

Hey Eric,
Once I created the sites I don't see a subfolder for that site I just made. For instance that site I just did for eastpark any idea where that might have been placed by the EZ generator? also I tried the link in the iphone tester and it's not showing up. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks.

Re: WP Mobile Redirection plugin

Hi Eric thanks for the plugin very much appreciated. I am just getting started with mobile and know very little so this may be a stupid question, do i need to make a mobile version of the desktop site and redirect there or does it converter the desktop site to mobile.
