WP mobile redirection specific question I have a wordpress site and I have created an Android Application version of the site for download. I will have an iPhone app soon as well. So what I want to do is if people come from an Android phone that they be redirected to a page that gives them the option to go to the app download page or continue on to the page that they were going to. This could also be in the form of a pop up. So can anyone help me find a solution via plugin or something else to detect Android, and give the option to either download the app or go onto the page they wanted to go to initially. |

If i where to deploy an app in this manner i would possibly suggest adding in a javascript alert too giving the user an option to go to to the app or not... Alternatively you could use useragent detection and jquery to show a button too.. there actually several ways of doing it come to think of it... hope that helps |
Re: WP mobile redirection specific question I would avoid any use of popups and especially javascript for mobile sites. You simply need to redirect to a page which gives the 2 options. I can't see why you would want to do it any other way. |
Re: WP mobile redirection specific question @int_corp we wasnt talking about validation or building a mobile site, javascript alerts work perfectly well on both android and iphones which the OP is targeting and is different from a popup window. Providing they have javascript enabled which i would pretty much say that accounts for 99% of them... if they dont i doubt they would bother with an app... i would have done a mobile site and then first reviewed the stats and seen if there was really a need for an aoo... @OP in all honesty why exactly do you need an app in the first place? just curious? as i said before there are several ways you can approach this |
