Clients for mobile sites?

What has anyone found to be the most effective way to get clients for mobile sites?

A lot of the experienced sellers say that by having a face-to-face mini-presentation with the client has HUGE conversion rates ( some claim 60% ).

But it's very time-consuming!

Intimidation...I am 6'4" and 230 lbs....they are scared to say no...

That might not work so well for you though...

Ok, I am being facetious but also making a point...

What works best for others may not work so well for you.

Some people excel in person and others don't....just find what works best for you.

That's very true,
I think we should try all methods and find the only we are the most confortable with, then we can perfect that method so that it becomes YOUR best method ;)

Someone posted on this forum earlier that they would select 15 businesses that didn't have a mobile optimized version of their website, built mockups of their sites and sent them a postcard with the url of the mobile website. It's simple to do this with a mobile CMS, and if you do this everyday, spending 30 minutes or so on each site, adding in a logo, copy and pasting important pages text, etc I think it's more than worth it.

The guy said he would get 2-3 sales immediately and then follow up on the others that would generate 1-2 more sales and he was selling them for a few hundred a pop.

Sounds like a solid plan...some people need to be shown a comparision. Some people need that to close a sale. Show them how it is so much better to have that mobile site and easier for the end user.
There is nothing better than putting it on the table and asking them which one they would rather use or which looks better. No one in their right mind will say their desktop site as compared to the mock up. I would think that would be the answer to a lot of closing the sale issues....
Show 'em whatcha got and be proud...worst case they say no, but more than likely you are going to hear back from them...so always be nice, shake their hand and be genuine. It sometimes is all about them feeling in the position of power and that they made the decision and they called you back and it is on their time as opposed to being closed then and there.
All depends on the personality type. People buy people. Be real, keep it simple and build rapport! Best of luck to everyone in 2012..!!!:D:D:D

Hang them upside down over a cliff by the ankles and shake them. Not the best of tactics, but it worked for my ancestors.

Did you try emailing? When I first started selling mobile websites I had some success with closing deals on emails. But in my experience it has a lower conversion rate than face-to-face meetings.

I like to get away from the traditional business market that you see every one targeting.

Mobile websites for Manufacturers is a good example.

I found this to be very true. It is very time consuming, especially for me when my ticket price is much less expensive than some of these guys charging $400+++. I need to find loads of online leads, but how?

Good point Quentin, I just saw QR codes on the bananas my wife bought. Not really the same as manufacturers but the same concept. I think there should be QR codes on every replacement part ever made. They should take you to a mobile site with instructions and videos!!!! You know, for idiots like me.

I didn't use a list, I went to some local business directories and contacted businesses. I believe there will be less competition if you go after such business directories.

Hahaha, yeah, so true. I also think a business inquisition would be great as well. You would think that demonstrating the iron maiden with one business would be good enough, but nooooooooooo, I have to go and bring out the pendulum. If they don't buy and die first, you at least know they're not a witch. Just don't drop them in the water to the bottom of the sea. If they float back up, you'd be wrong and you won't get the sale.

I agree, face to face or over the phone is ALWAYS better if you are really convinced about the product your selling, it comes through your emotion and the way your speaking.

If your more certain than the prospect, your always going to win them over.
