"Tap to Call" Cash!
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

OK....I've been working with Pizzerias....placing a Special Card in Motel Rooms so that "Hungry" Travelers can see a picture of a mouth-watering PIZZA....and a QR Code (and the URL to the Pizzeria Mobile Site)... and....up on their Mobile Device comes info about the Pizzeria, a sample Menu and....a "Tap To Call" button.

So....just by clicking the Tap-To-Call button...they can be connected to the Pizzeria and place an order to be delivered to their room.

Now....my program is Free to Motels (I won't mention why) and....I have been charging the Pizzeria a "Monthly Fee" per room...and....orders have been coming in (Funny thing I discovered; The cheaper the Motel, the MORE Pizza Orders)

I've been reading about setting up a "Phone Program" such that the "Tap-to-Call" call goes to a number I control....then...without the customers knowing....the call is transferred to the Pizzeria.

I'm thinking about charging Per Call....instead of "Per Room Per Month" because some of these motels are producing an average of "2 Pizzas a Week...8 Pizzas a Month ...PER ROOM @ $15 each = $120 A ROOM PER MONTH!

And...in a 50 room motel...that's $120 x 50 = $6,000 A MONTH GROSS!

So...my question is; What do YOU think I should charge the Pizzerias if I'm bringing them an extra 400 Pizzas a Month??? 8 Pizzas a Month per Room?...@$15 ea?

Thanks much,

Don Alm

I think charging by call would be a great idea but you need a good way to track your results otherwise charge the pizzaria a monthly fee probably 10% of there gross sales from your leads. that would be $600 monthly based on your model.

May Success Overtake You!

One issue I see - how do you know they are actually ordering when they call? Could be asking about specials - delivery time etc.

What you could do is route this to a Twilio system and Voice Recognition OR menu system .. then pair this with a IFTTT system to push this as a voice message / email or text to the pizza chain, so you 'manage' the order automatically and you therefore get the orders.

If you didn't want a full ordering system handled by Twilio you could set you a simple menu item:

Press 1 to order (route call to pizerria)
Press 2 for hours (list) -- if it's closed you overide all options and just tell them you're closed.
Press 3 for menu (list)

R

PS; if this is useful information as I don't live in the US -- and can't compete with you Midas -- I'd love to hear how you handle the agreement with the motels -- could you email me? pizza at xmpapps.com

Thank you

"....how do you know they are actually ordering when they call?"

I use a Certain Price for each pizza ordered....so that when THAT PRICE shows up on their Register....they KNOW it's from MY program!

However....by using a Phone # I control I can break it down into;

"X # of calls" and "X # of Orders".

Also....I was talking with a local Dentist at a Breakfast Meeting this morn and he, being a new dentist in town...is looking for a way to get "New Patient Leads".

So....I thought...."I could set up a "Interceptor Phone #"...and....
...charge X$ for each Call
and
...X+$ for each Appointment.

Only problem with this though, unlike the Special Priced Pizzas...there's no way to tell whether the Phone Call was just an Inquiry or an actual Appointment.

A few years ago....I set up a "Welcome" program where I'd send a PostCard (with Before and After photos of a mouth)....offering "FREE TEETH WHITENING". I created an Extra Page on the dentist's website where I had the Before and After Photos showing and...a Form which people could fill in to be Called by someone in the Dentist's Office.

With that one I was charging $35 for EACH Form that was filled in and submitted to the dentist.

That worked pretty good because I KNEW....each and every Form that was filled in and submitted.

I also set up a Special RED Phone in a Car Dealer's. Every time that phone rang...I got $15....sale or no sale. And...because it was a phone I controlled....I knew exactly how many calls came thru.

The GREAT THING about setting up a "Money-Making" program like this is... I charge a one-time Set Up fee and X$ per Call per Month....and once I get the "Ad Program" set up so consumers know WHAT PHONE NUMBER to dial....I can spend the rest of my time....FISHING....or TRAVELING...or, whatever!

I get paid on EACH PHONE CALL!

So....I know there's a way to set this up using MOBILE PHONES...and that's why I'm presenting the idea....here....in this Forum!

Any suggestions?

Thanks much,
Don Alm

If they are coming to your website and clicking on a button to make a phone call, why do you need a separate phone line? Why not just count the amount of people that are hitting that call button on your server, and skip new phone lines all together? You will be able to show your data to the business (what time call was made, where it originated from, etc) proving the call came from you, and you cut out the expense of new lines.

Or is the sample menu you were talking about not a website?

On second thought - maybe better to control the number. That way if the pizza dude leaves or don't pay - forward it the next pizza dude.

I have no clue what the profit margins per pizza are, but I'd work on getting a cut of it. Something like $5 each?!? Is that greedy?

I was raised in a motel, generally the deal we as front desk would get is 50% off our orders... so, there's obviously some margin to work with there..

If you get a cut of each pizza sold, you could maybe make a deal with the front desk staff to give them half of your commission for each pizza sold that they recommended. I guess the tracking becomes quite difficult there. But, we used to get calls to the desk all the time asking about which is the best in town, despite the pamphlets in the rooms.

Just some ideas...

Thanks,

James

Hi, Don

I think a straight percentage of their margin (or the retail -- whatever's easier for the pizza parlour owners) is the simplest way to do it. These guys don't want extra hassles.

Plus, making your fee come out of "money in the bank" makes it risk free to them: If it doesn't work, they don't pay. That strengthens your pitch to new pizza parlour owners, too.

As for the logistics and control issue, take advantage of the "I'll set it all up for you. I don't need access to your site or anything. I'll set it up on my end, you set it up with the special prices on your end, you add it up at the end of the month and send me a cheque."

Now, what you do is create a mobile website called www.SuperMegaPizzaSpecial-a-roonis.com and do the following:

* have the logo on the home page and a message saying "Oops! Looks like you forgot to add the last part of the URL. Please check again and enter the full web address. For example... blah blah blah"

This ensures the hotel guests are going to the exact page on your flyer/card.

* Then you simply create a mobile-friendly single-page menu including all the prices in various sub-directories, e.g. .../benitos

The reason you want to include all the prices is so you can track conversions reasonably accurately without having to do anything more technical. How? Your web analytics package will tell you how many people hit the page. If all the info is there and they "Tap to Call", they're callin' to order in 99% of cases, surely? So >>> Number of sales / Number of visitors

* Add your "Tap-to-Call" button and you're good to go.

This way, you control the whole process. So if you've got dozens of cards/flyers "out there" and Il Duce doesn't want to play ball anymore, you just redirect the .../benitos directory to another directory, e.g. .../silvios, which is another pizza joint nearby with whom you have an agreement. The end-user won't even notice in most cases.

Hope that helps.

All the best,
TheNightOwl

You could market it more similar to groupon but call it Pizzapon. And actually take payment via CC for the pizza discount. Then settle up w/ pizza shop daily/weekly for their cut. Control.

Here is the key:
"The GREAT THING about setting up a "Money-Making" program like this is... I charge a one-time Set Up fee and X$ per Call per Month....and once I get the "Ad Program" set up so consumers know WHAT PHONE NUMBER to dial....I can spend the rest of my time....FISHING....or TRAVELING...or, whatever!"

The more involved you are the the more work you have to do = less fishing and that SUX!
I think I would give a little $ away to get more free time. I think I might make it a monthly fee for the pizza place and work on expanding it both to other hotels and other cities around me. maybe ad on a wing place = a chinese place etc.
