Ed, I have been successful in both! It really depends on who you are selling to. I sell a lot better face-to-face and therefore I try to hit businesses that I can walk into and talk to a decision maker. The companies (corporations) that I know I cannot reach the decision maker by walking in I will call...usually 10-15 times before I get an appointment with someone (usually still not the decision maker) that has the ability to get me in front of the right person. Either way I always end up meeting with them face-to-face with very few exceptions which are typically referrals that already know what they want and that they want it or are too far away to make the trip out worth my time. I really think you should look at tailoring your approach to what your more comfortable with as it will make it easier for you to sell because either way you can be successful. b |
