Selling mobile websites to clients not from your own country
Share on:

How do most of you sell your mobile website creation services, is it mostly via face 2 face. phone, email or a combination of these?

Say you are from Country A and you want to sell mobile site solutions to country B, how do u do that?

Is it possible to close them via email + skype? or to close them purely by email?

I'm considering to start a mobile site creation business and I'm currently located in Asia, and I want to target Western countries like USA, Australia, UK and Canada. How much of a challenge would that be?

I live in Turkey and I made mobile sites for businesses in other countries such as the UK and Canada. I contacted them via email and it was not so easy to close the deals because people don't trust foreigners at first. However, if you work hard and prove yourself then it will be easier as you proceed. And once you start getting referrals, it will be much better.

Start with making some samples of your work so that you can show a portfolio to people that you contact. Make at least one real mobile site for a real business, free or paid, could be a local one, so that people will know that you are real.

So you managed to close them just by email???

Yes I guess I gotta build at least 2 or 3 samples as portfolio....and need to create a professional website specifically to market my mobile site services....and create a mobile version for that as well!

I'm glad this question is being discussed. @ Nail, do you handle payment via Paypal?

I was just wondering this myself as it seems the UK market might be easier to target as their mobile exchanges/prefixes are simpler and easier to find unlike here in the US.

That's true. But I didn't continue emailing businesses, because it was taking a lot of time and I had other things to do.

Yes, payments via PayPal. I guess most of the businesses in the developed countries have a PayPal account but make it clear to the business owners that you accept payments via PayPal before coming to an agreement.

Just get an agent in that other country and do a JV

We now have agents in 24 countries and expanding.

Hey Quentin, I would like to build my own sales team. Do you have any advice on how to set up JVs with agents, particularly how to find people who will bring deals to you on a consistent basis and more info on how you set up the JVs? If someone would write a course on this, this would fill a much-overlooked void. Very needed advice...

I am under the impression that mobile marketing is most effective in the local market, that is to say where you live.

So cool that you are venturing beyond that...I enjoy seeing entrepreneurs go beyond the boundaries, speaking here physically and in business.

As Quentin pointed out you may JV with someone within that country to become your agent...

This would prove to be extremely helpful as, who know the people in that country than someone living there?

From personal experience, in dealing with peoples of other countries, communicating in the person's "heart" language is most effective, which is what your agent would do. Plus culture plays a major role in the language communication...

You may want to close the sale but your agent in that country knows just how to close the sale and when the timing would prove most effective, to ensure the customer stays on...

Followup by your agent, will make that customer relationship that much stronger too.

Best wishes.

Good advice. Still could be some regulatory and tax issues for the parent company.
