Hey Warriors I have a recording artist that I am trying to sell a mobile website too.I have already done my mock ups and and will show him a snap shot off his website on the W3C mobile checker. I also want to include a completed QR code that leads to an artists site maybe a rap group, rock band or hip hop i does not matter. Any warriors out there able to supply me with this so I can pass it on for my potential client. |

Hey Mark I am not looking for a QR code generator as that will be something I work on after I have the client sold to the idea. What I am asking for is if any of the warriors may have already done a QR code leading to the mobile website of an artist that they have as a client. I just want to be able to take a snap shot of it and send it to my client with the rest of my proposal that's all. |

If you already have a mock up, then just generate a QR Code leading to that site. If you are trying to show someone else's custom QR Code leading to someone else's site, then you are being a little misleading with your client. Which can leave them feeling like "bait n switch". Don't risk it. Either go to warrior forum warriors for hire section and find someone who can do what you are looking for or find a free generator and generate it yourself. Suzanne |

Hello Suzanne I beg to differ on the misleading part all I want to show them is the QR codes functionality and how that by having a QR code leading to a mobile website is good business...the bottom line is they have to be ok with my own design for there site before I ever generate a QR code which they will see in it's entirety anyway so I really do not see how showing them an example is a big deal. |

It's simple. Just find an artist's website you like - an example could be Elvis.com as they have a nice looking mobile website. Then go to a free online QR code generator (http://zxing.appspot.com/generator/) and create a QR code pointing to that website. Print out the QR code image and you are done. Now you can show the client the QR code which they can scan. To save you a few minutes, here is a QR code image all ready to go for Elvis.com.

Will: When you use the QR code generator that you mentioned above, do you select MECARD or vCard option? (And what is the difference, or does it matter?)

A quick search on Google might tell you what those others options are for. Or maybe someone else reading this thread?

I think vcard automatically becomes a contact for the person scanning it. Not sure about mecode.

The difference between the two QR codes: The ME-Card will populate the contact details (such as the name of the person, their address, name of business, website info & e-mail address). The V-Card will generate for whatever text would be posted in the box. Go here to generate your Free QR Code: The DMC vCard & MeCARD QR Code Generator (i.e. Business Cards for Geeks) > DMC, Inc. > Blog

What they all said. Plus you need to make sure to educate yourself on terminology and on the can's and can not's of QR Code design and usage because there are some quirks that can make them unusable... especially when you go from a black and white, squared old fashion QR Code to a custom colored, shaped, logo inserted one. Just say'n. :-)

Does anyone know of a QR code generator that allows you to have text about your site plus a clickable URL? I was looking into this last night (weird I know) and could only find ones like above. You can either have text with your link that isn't clickable or just your URL which goes straight to the website. Are there free/paid ones that allow you to have both a bit of text info about the company and then have a clickable link to the website if the person wishes?

The reason the QR codes ask what type of QR code you want to generate (phone number, vcard, URL, text, etc. is because what format the alphanumeric code is meant to be interpreted to is hardwired by the top rows of the QR itself - i.e, the code is hardwired. I'm not aware of any QR format at the moment that does both in one QR. I like this site for generating QRs because it gives many options for file type and size. QR Code Generator, 2d Barcode Generator, QR Code I am not affiliated with them, heck they are technically my competition, but they made a pretty awesome QR generator. |
